- The truth about car fuel tank capacity. We filled 56 litres in a car which has mentioned 50litres as maximum tank capacity. Also we filled car with fuel and the fuel gauge still showed zero due to the fact that fuelling was done when car ignition was switched on.
Very nice information.... The doubt came today when i filled my pulsar which has 15 litre capacity .. and ended in 17 litres after filling...1st i thought it was cheated... Now its been clarified
If fuel pump nosel automatically tripped down during full-fill tank... that is actual capacity of your tank... never put extra fuel after nosel auto tripped out
Company declared tank capacity is upto auto cut, the remaining space is deliberately kept by manufacturer to avoid any sort of vaccum creation in tank which could impact on pumping of fuel into engine. which could happen if you fuel the tank completely till it's throat. Usually you can fuel upto 10 to 12 % more then the declared fuel tank capacity.
Company declared fuel capacity is up to auto cut...
If you continue filling after that you can accommodate more fuel...which is what the attendant was doing

A good attempt to clear doubts from the mind of the customers. Customers often consider petrol pump dealer and staff as cheats without acknowledging the realities. All dispensing units are calibrated by weights and measures department of respective state governments however none of the fuel tank fitted in the car or any other vehicle has any such certification.

Bhai petrol ya disel sirf cutoff point tak hi daal na chahiye..app ne to tank full kar diya... as per indian oil guidline agar tank full karna hoto fuel gun ko start karke lock karde.. woh ek cutoff point par akar apne aap hi ruk jayega... uske baad jo tank.jagah khali rehti hai woh air ke liye hoti hai..
Bhai apne kha ki auto cutt of take bharwana Chahiye...ye bat to Sahi hai lekin kya auto cutt tk 50 liter aata ye Sahi hai
Duster and terrano car MAI ye problem hai u have to switch off the ignition while refueling

Please have a look at the video again. I think you're mistaken. Both times Diesel nozzle has been picked up
