This would've been a great opportunity to bring back Hyper Sonic. But, perhaps it was too soon.

In fact, Ian Flynn wanted to bring Hyper Sonic back in this scene, but SEGA wouldn't let him, so it stayed that way.

With sega backtracking on the idea of power creep and giving sonic new forms, I think we’ll maybe see hyper sonic again one day.

Then again, they specifically had the new form be something Sonic can't use anymore after he overused it. That could have been a compromise to let them have a new form without invoking power creep. It's pretty much in the same boat as Hyper Sonic now.
@@ZachStone3213To be fair, Hyper Sonic is generally always much harder to achieve than Super Sonic, no matter the situation... besides hunting the Chaos Emeralds, you must take them to the Emerald Shrine alongside the Master Emerald, summon the Super Emeralds, and THEN awaken their power... _one by one._
Sure, the result is an even more godlike Super Sonic, but the Super Emeralds can't stay active for long and unlocking them is a lengthy process... not something you can do in the face of danger, and not something you can prepare in advance.
@Eldoofus Then you don't know what Power creep is. If they bring back Hyper Sonic even once, then that will be the new standard. Nothing else would be cooler, so they'd have to bring Hyper sonic back in every game otherwise the game would be lame, but if they keep reusing Hyper Sonic then Hyper Sonic will be lame. Better to sick to the whole Super Sonic is the final form or another situational form.
@@FowaJCT kinda too late since they introduced Hyper Sonic as this new, awesome form that Sonic can obtain in Sonic 3&K.
Just like SS2, Hyper can be situational like it drains too much from the Master Emerald or that the Super Emeralds break, making it impossible for them to be used again.

Fun fact: the devs originally planned to have sonic use the chaos emeralds, cyber corruption and summon the power of the ancients to transform into hyper sonic in the final battle but they scrapped it off

it's better to save the hyper form for a multiversal threat, like solaris
@@matiasriesgo119Solaris was able to defeat with the help of a super form, so the hyper form will not be necessary. The fact that Ian wanted to bring back his hyper form for the battle against The End is reinforced by the fact that The End is a threat to the Multiverse level more than Solaris.

They literally just swapped models. The particles, and transformation/ transformation sequences was all Sega.

@@HonestJohn_01.19 Yeah and it's brilliant. The modder could have easily just had him go from hyper sonic to normal sonic. But he didn't. He distinctly made sure all 3 forms were accounted for during the cutscene. Mad props for small attention to detail.

I cannot express how glad I am to see a new sonic form for the first time in years.
The only way this could get any cooler, is if the song started playing Doomsday or sky sanctuary bits during the song to hint at hyper sonic's originl, sonic 3 & knuckles. ^^

I don’t know if anyone will see this comment because im late but if you go to 4:21 where the plasma ball is you can see sonic flash from super sonic 2 back to his original form if he’s under a certain ring count

For people who don't know what Power creep is. If they bring back Hyper Sonic even once, then that will be the new standard. I mean super sonic in itself has been overused. Also dragonball is still popular despite the horrid amount of power creep.
It's not because of "power creep" I don't know why people keep saying this it's because of copyright issues with dragon Ball. If Sega was worried about Sonic becoming "too powerful" then he wouldn't have any other forms besides super to begin with

@@HYPERxSONICxFANx2012 Sega doesn't want any more similarities with dragon Ball so they fear that if they use hyper again it might lead to some legal controversies which is just stupid because hyper was before ultra instinct.

Sega has stated that they didnt like hyper and the only reason they added him in the first place is to reward the people for grinding the emerald stages in 3 and knuckles.

I firmly believe that Hyper Sonic could have been utilized in this story, say Tails has this one line saying "We know something about the Chaos Emeralds that the Ancients didn't, the Super Emeralds!" and they work to try find a way to restore the broken Super Emeralds left on Angel Island (As seen in Mania), which Knuckles could help in that department with his knowledge of the Servers of the 7 Chaos, utilizing Cyberspace to transport the Super Emeralds to the Islands and have Sonic go through the trials so the Ancients could restore the Super Emeralds to their former glory but will break again after their use when he goes all out just like the Cyber Sonic form.
The God that the Ancients worshipped likely also was the Creator of Dark and Light Gaia, of which the Light Gaia temples restored power to the Emeralds in Unleashed, so why not have a similar situation with the Ancients?
It's a good way to emphasize that the Ancients have bestowed and entrusted the Chaos Emeralds upon the world and they're being utilized a way that they never had thought was possible, as they had no idea the Master Emerald even existed before their arrival on Earth, so the Super Emeralds is another surprise to them. Its very story heavy and not an asspull.
It's a pity that Sonic team just won't allow it.
He *Was* supposed to appear as part of the final battle. The wiki shows in the trivia section that Sonic would've called out to the Koko and the Ancients' remaining memories and channeled that into the energy to become Hyper Sonic. Ian himself originally pitched this idea, but it was rejected. Proof that Ian understands what the fans want better than the damn higher-ups.
Flynn wanted to give us Hyper Sonic, *but the people in charge wanted the Space Shooter instead.*

Oh but it’s fine here with Super Sonic 2/Cyber Sonic? What about Dark Spine Sonic? Or Excalibur Sonic?
It's just that Powered Up and Cyber are just a power up for the super form himself, and Darkspine and Excalibur are situational forms for other worlds. Hyper is a full-fledged new form as a form of Super Saiyan, so it was abandoned.

If we're at the point where Sega has to power up Super Sonic then they might as well bring back Hyper. There is only so much Super can do. Not saying he shouldn't still be around. In DBZ, we still will always see SSJ1 despite Goku having much stronger forms.
sega always does this, they bring new forms that are only used once due to the conditionals, the only difference is that Super Sonic 2 is stated to be stronger than Super Sonic, or at least, the hidden power of Super Sonic, that's at least is an advancement to the return of Hyper Sonic
