  • @AustonHolleman brought out a great topic about the situation with #passportbros and the situation that is occurring. African American men traveling to Africa (instead of Dominican Republic, Brazil, or Columbia) are getting hated on in my honest opinion. When you go into Facebook Groups that are Passport Bros related, you will find A LOT of Hatred towards women from Africa.

I’m also a Cameroonian woman married to a black American man. We do marry each other. Then again I grew up in the DMV. My parents never had a problem with me marrying a Black American man but I was turned of to dating some of them because of the cheapness, anti-blackness or colorism they perpetuated towards me. Historically black men in the states have always been called out for not being attracted to Afrocentric features. They’ve always been known for chasing white girls and dating out their race so I definitely think African woman would be on the bottom of their list. They will look for a white Spanish girl or a mixed looking girl instead. Also african woman don’t really find American men attractive for marriage because of the cultural differences. African woman are more likely to marry Caribbean black man then an American western black man

African women don’t go for a Caribbean man if they are trying to date outside their culture they would always choose a white man first. Secondly I don’t think Ados men have an issue with Afrocentric features or whatever that means. I believe they are not attracted to their women bc of how their women are as a culture. Notice how most men in America don’t want an Ados woman. I’ve never lived in America I’ve only been there for a bit and I could understand why Ados men don’t want their women in marriage anymore. The women there lack so many skills & I find it weak that they blame it on features & color. Who thinks like that? Like what?? Most men just want a traditional woman no matter what the woman looks like and like I said Ados women don’t have the skills they had once

True but it's not just in America. According to WHO, there's an epidemic of skin bleaching in Africa with Nigeria having the highest rate. I've seen several African women on CZcams complaining about their men having a preference for light skinned women, Ethiopian women, etc even though these men are themselves dark skinned.

I’ve only watched upto minute 6 but I wholly and absolutely agree with Tina’s take on the problematic passport bro culture. I totally dislike the commodification of women by these kind of men, and it pits women against each other. So for example, as an African woman, am I supposed to feel ‘better than’ my black American sisters because I’m supposedly ‘more feminine’? Also, it’s a healthy breeding ground for a ‘pick-me’ attitude.
Also, Self-hate with these passport bros is real!! The so-called problematic American (black) women birthed these same men and are their relatives. Why hate your own or prefer other over yours? And yes Oshay, colourism too

Life has always been a competition. It's not wrong for any gender to seek the best qualities they can get in a partner. If alot of men find those qualities to be more prevalent in African women than African American women. Then that's just their preference. It's not about explotation or pinning anyone against anyone. Life itself pins the strong against the weakest. Men have always known this. And operate accordingly to try to be the best.

Please don't take what Oshay says as gospel -- this is just his opinion. (It would have been nice to include some stats.) BM-WW marriages have the highest divorce rate of all marriages, but BW-WM have the longest lasting marriages -- even longer than WM-WW. I think a lot of Black men today are just confused. They think whiteness/proximity to whiteness is feminine, or that such women are "malleable" as Oshay says, but obviously Black men are misguided in this view, or divorce rates between BM-WW wouldn't be the highest.
It seems Black men have been brainwashed by western media -- the standard of beauty and femininity is the white woman, and Black women, particularly darker Black women, are at the opposite end of that color spectrum.
Given the number of "Karen" videos online, (def not "malleable"), one would think Black men would see the fallacy in their reasoning -- but they don't.

    • @loriannrichardson7644
      @loriannrichardson7644 Před 10 měsíci +2

@@sammajor2075 You're missing my point. Long marriages between BW-WM, I would posit, is because they marry for love of the person -- it's not a fetish. Whereas many BM-WW marriages are the result of a fetish. Many of those BM are marrying a color, not the person, which results in a high % of these marriages failing.
Re divorce, Black women as a demographic are educated and are highly represented in the workforce, and therefore are capable of supporting themselves -- divorce doesn't frighten them. Also given that most Black women, by far, marry Black men, it's Black men they're divorcing in large numbers. The common denominator in WW-BM and BW-BM divorce rates is Black men.

I think some men go to countries where their reputation is not ruined, already.
Some people may be dating due to stereotypes of women, but totally ignoring that they need that unequal perception/reality for it to function. Certain dynamics between the two parties come into play.
There is always "need" or desperation on one side. Is it still "attractive" to a passport bro, if the lady in D. R is akready doing well?
Is it the "well to do" Brazilian women from wealthy families they are interested in?
Not sure how likely it would be, that they would be interested in those upper-class, educated, well travelled and accomplished circles in D. R, Thailand , Brazil, Mexico etc. The dynamics would be different.
Also, black American abroad is actually an American-black.
Their race is minimised because what is important about them, when abroad, is rather their nationality. Dollars=access="success", basically.
It's not even wrong to prefer something different, traditional or "exotic", but it's unhealthy, if you need to have active unresolved issues, to do it. Also, if the lady imprives her lot in life during the relationship, would these passport bros feel threatened by it? I don't know.
    Life is just too short.

TINA IS THE SH1$! ONPOINT! ON THE MONEY! I saw one of these Passport Bros and the brother was in Cuba talking about how he lives like a king. Then he talked about the women and how Latin women "claim" a man as theirs after one date and become angry and jealous if he gives other women his attention. He was trying to be respectful of the women, but there was no other way to view what was going on. He can have a different woman every night of the week. He's either a Ho or couldn't get enough play in his home country to be a Ho, so he travels to poor Latin countries and pretends to be prey for the prey. He's got money, he walks in a room and the most beautiful women in the world give him the look that let him know, it's okay. That can be any woman in general, but it became clear that when you have mixed cultures or even a darker Brazilian or Dominican with silky hair it's okay for a woman to want you because you can make their life easier with the money you have. As long as it's not a black woman that's trying to find a man of means. These black men are too good for black women. Most of them don't have two degrees and one doesn't make you a genius. Who can't travel on a dime with small savings, frequent flyer miles? How many of them have actually married any of these women? Not that they won't, but how many of these Passport Bros have married any of these women? Austin is right. Those black men don't like who they are and who better to blame for them being black than the black women that brought them into the world. If these women know how to treat a man it's because they have all the time in the world to work on it. They don't spend their days and nights working to the bone trying to take care of a family in countries where the cost of living keeps you behind the curve even when you're not trying to do it by yourself. Besides, the work opportunities aren't there for them. Those brothers are delighted that "they" are the work opportunities for those women. They'll make a man their whole world, especially if he can get them out of their countries. Black people in America, Europe, and Africa have to work hard to make it in this world. I don't care what race or nationality of women any of those men want. Don't take your issues out on black women. Every time I see strong black women express themselves on shows like this one, As an African American woman, I know that we as black women come straight outta Africa, because as different as we are, we are so much alike it's obvious, we didn't still any of our uniqueness, beauty strength, determination, and take no bullshit attitude. Those black men are the ones who will try to assimilate into the Latin culture in America before they realize America doesn't want them. They can't handle a black woman. ONLY A REAL MAN CAN DO THAT.!
