  • Here's a recent golf lesson with Brian where we employed a loop drill to get him to stop coming over the top. For this we also used The Hanger training aid, something I use regularly on my lesson tee to help promote better wrist conditions, and in this case to help stand the club up in the takeaway and backswing, then shallow it out in the downswing. For those of you that hit a pull and/or slice, this can be a helpful drill and tool!

What I love about the loop is two things. First: it seems to keep your hands more centered in your chest as you turn. If you keep you keep your hands low and just shut the face down from takeaway as the 'pivot and tilt' or 'one plane' peo[;e do, your hands are forced to be low and have a tendancy to get WAY behind your turn. Second: It can be used to get your hands higher, which means when gravity kicks in, you get more speed. And C: when you "lay the club down" at the top of the swing, it flattens out your left wrist, prepping you for great contact. Critics would say it has a lot more moving parts, but I argue that your mind is more powerful than you would know and it really isn't that hard to sync it all up. If if feels hard to sync, try just slowing it down a bit. BTW..this works great for my irons. When I swing driver and woods, I use some different thoughts.

Good stuff I love this drill, great reminder for me to stay connected, big turn and inside out swing.

@@MiloLinesGolf I also have to remember to loosen my wrist to not be tense, have you talked about that lately if not can you relay your thoughts please?

Thank you and I think good lesson for beginner just like me. I feel stay connected during my back swing, as soon as start “sit down “ then feel disconnected especially right arm. Can you imagine what is wrong with this?

Are you still using a what you called an “athletes grip” strong lead with trail hand on the side? For this drill/swing

That's Ledbetter's A swing that he learned from Lydia Ko. Also, as soon as that right arm collapses the body turn stops. Keep the right arm straight longer and the shoulders keep turning.

180deg from what Malaska says. Which is right? Call me confused.

When i do this drill, I push my hands out too far and hit either big pushes or even shanks. How do you keep your hands from pushing out?

I see many try and replicate the loop pattern by excessively circling the arms. The motion is primarily done with the wrists, some forearm rotation, and the change in bends in the spine. I'd have to see your swing to give you more feedback. Have you looked into joining my online academy? milolinesgolf.com

The important question is how to realize this move…
With active hands or wrists, maybe forearm rotation or just via clubhead momentum? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Keep up your great work and cheers from Germany.

The opposite of the inside over the top golf swing.

Sort of, the reverse slot swing is more of an inside to on plane swing. We have a video coming out soon on this. I just like to see the club return in a channel. Many ways to swing the club.
