    Nondestructive testing or Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a wide group of analysis techniques used in industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage. The terms Nondestructive examination (NDE), Nondestructive inspection (NDI), and Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) are also commonly used to describe this technology.
    Industry has an ongoing need for these technologies and techniques that can accurately locate, quantify, characterise and size flaws in a wide variety of materials, components and structures, and TWI has an undoubted and proven track record in the research, development and application of NDT and supporting technologies.
    With every technology in use, industry has a responsibility to employ trained, competent and qualified staff to operate NDT technologies in order to use them safely and accurately. In many industrial sectors qualification and recognised certification is enforced by law or by the associated applied codes and standards. Recognising this, and using its expertise in having driven major developments within the NDT field, TWI has been best placed to design and develop its comprehensive programme of related NDT training, covering Conventional NDT courses and Advanced NDT courses.
    TWI runs an NDT training programme designed to introduce newcomers to the most commonly used means of non-destructive testing. TWI has been at the forefront of inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) of fabricated structures for more than 40 years. The NDT Technology Section is a multi-disciplinary group of over 60 engineers, consultants and technicians dedicated to the development and successful implementation of the full spectrum of NDT technologies.

      Nur zarifah salib Nondestructice Testing is an excellent career. And the world is in need of technicians. The way I got my foot in the door to NDT is I started working at a manufacturing company for airplanes. Then I talked to them and told them I was interested in being an apprentice maybe 2-3 times a week for a few hours in the ndt department. I always recommend everyone to start working at an aerospace company or refinery and ask if they will be willing to train you for ndt a few times a week. It worked for me, and I got the hang of it quickly, they changed my position to a full time ndt inspector apprentice. It took me about 2 years total to get all my certifications, but well worth it. If I were to pick one to start off with, I would say penetrant inspection, or magnetic particle inspection. They're both the most common type, and to me the easiest. It's simple, penetrant inspection is used for surface indications, magnetic particle inspection is used for surface, and near sub-surface indications in ferromagnetic materials. Hope this helps and good luck!

    • @KingHalbatorix
      @KingHalbatorix Před 7 lety

      Shane Stoner right, you clean the part by spraying the cleaner onto an identical part next to it and hope the part to be tested gets the right idea and cleans itself
      It's surprisingly common how often people think a cleaning product is supposed to be used on the part being cleaned, but obviously you can clean a part without getting any cleaner on it

    • @frillinho
      @frillinho Před 6 lety

      Or maybe he means that the cleaner is sometimes sprayed on to the cleaning cloth and that is used to clean the part, and not onto the part itself to ensure that there isn't excessive cleaning products that can conceal the surface cracks. Notice how he says "indirectly", that doesn't mean cleaner won't get on the part, just doesn''t get sprayed on the part directly.
