Thanks for watching!
"You looked didn't you." ... "Ok, I'll tell you the story"
Haha, sorry but I couldn't help but laugh.
Muscle Castle hahahaa
The motel clerk is so half assed lol.
He wanted him to look
"free pretzels"
"out of pretzels"
+Kathikay It's a damn shame.
Katharina pretzel are good
"There's a room next door to yours. Don't go in there."
"Why would I even do that?"
lol
This is one of my favorite scary stories ever. It's short, simple, easily retold to friends and sends chills down your spine.
I don't get how this sends you chills! I mean the story is alright and the video too, but it's not at all scary to me...
MrMummy15 It all depends on how you feel about standing 3 inches away from a ghost staring back into their eye :)
Yeah I suppose I would be scary if it happened to me personally. I just don't fel it in the clip - which doesn't mean that it is bad at all...
Understood! There are a few things I wish I had done differently, but overall I'm proud of the vibe of the piece!
I told this to my teacher
1:18 He sets his bag down and leaves it there? Okay.
Yep. Did it on purpose, made the decision to speed up the shot to keep it smooth. When we rehearsed and he had to pick up the briefcase it looked unnatural so I kept it this way.
Brandon Christensen and he never turns the key? he does the hand movement, but the key head never turned cuz it was not fully in the lock? That entire scene was a bit... lacking but everything else seemed smooth, well edited, good acting.
Here, take a look:
czcams.com/video/8598jBzz4AM/video.html
He did take it
annnnd hardly put the key in the lock before turning the knob haha
The motel clerk at the counter is creepiest thing out of the entire film.
Holy shit. I must say. This short film had a better plot an acting than a lot of big budget movies today.
+Raev yeah about that...
Raev ikr
1:25 he left his bag outside
am i the only one who noticed
lol yes he totally did
I thought I was the only one who noticed
MattDJF no he brought it in it look like he left it but he brought it
I don't think I've ever really seen a short film based on a creepy pasta!! You know if you guys did this kind of stuff a lot I think it would get really popular!! Great job!
This was really well done, the look on the guys face when the man tell him about the eyes is perfect. Well well shot, well edited, well acted EVERYTHING!
Holy shit this situation is so awesomely creepy as a whole! And when he realized that the thing he saw through the hole the second time was the woman's red eye, along with that blink at the end... So awesome. I've never felt such satisfactory 'scaryness' in my life. Great job really. 👏
Thanks MP!
One of the simplest horror shorts i have ever seen......oh! And the coolest too...a simple but a little creepy plot and a decent acting. The climax was cool with a good music in the background instead of a normal horror bgm. And the moment the man understands he was peeping to the horrible red eyes was amazing...just brilliant.
Thanks Mo! Appreciate it!
Only horror story where the main character survives
My favorite part of this is when her mouth opens up into a ghostly shriek. It's chilling, mainly because I can't help but wonder what would have happened it someone hadn't have honked their horn right at that very second. It was long enough to be creepy, but quick enough to make it believable that he would have dismissed it! Well done!
I wouldn't let it bug you too much! I really think it was perfect the way it was. In the original story the protagonist (as well as the reader) doesn't really know how messed up the situation is until hearing the whole story from the desk clerk. I think it was creepier for him to not know really get to react to her as much. In my humble opinion of course!
I agree, just for a pacing standpoint...since it is kind of the iconic shot (other than the blink), it would have been nice to give a slightly longer look to her.
Glad you liked it though and appreciate your comment :)
This is short but blowing my mind *AMAZING DUDE!!*
Haha, cool man.
Really well done. The acting direction was impeccable. Very well edited as well. Excellent work all around.
+David Luberger Thanks David, I appreciate that!
that keyhole shot was really well done
"Excuse me, sir! You left- you're suitcase! You're suitcase! Sir? It's still on the flo- SIR. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR SUITCASE OUTSIDE OF YOUR ROOM. IT MIGHT GET STOLE- Oh, I see you must have returned for it in the middle of the night. Very good then."
*your
"Puts down bag and walks inside" "Doesn't pick bag back up"
olan tucker
It's an offering for the motel demon.
I seem to remember the original having just a normal girl with her back turned when he peeked the first time, and he stopped because he was embarrassed rather than spooked. Not sure how I felt about the inserted jump scare, but the blink at the end was the best
PLEASE MAKE MORE! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! You could be the first channel to make live action creeepypastas.
Yes I agree with you please make more this one was great definitely make another one
Well , I will not be looking into any key holes anytime soon.
You shouldn't be doing that anyway ;)
Brandon Christensen so politely scornful, subbing immediately
Thanks!
@@brandonchristensen2990 true its a bad idea invades privacy and you might get hurt or there could be germs and chemicals on it that may give you pink eye as bad as pink eye from harvey street netflix show has eew
Did anyone else notice that the motel sign in the beginning said "Free pretzels" but in the lobby there was a sign that said "Out of pretzels"?
That’s awesome! I didn’t notice until I saw your comment. The sign also wasn’t there the night before which is kinda cool.
Yes
This was actually put together very well. I actually got chills at the end of it haha. I'd love to see more, you're seem very talented.
+The Oose thanks for watching, oose
A lot of looking and some dumb luck. It took about a year of wandering around Vegas looking for somewhere. I found a couple of places that seemed interested but as things got more serious, they stepped back.
Eventually I gave up and months later decided that it might be best to try outside of the city, away from the 'motels' that have turned into long-term housing.
I Googled some places in Boulder City and found this and a couple of others. I drove out after calling and met them and they were totally into it. It was a really long process.
+Brandon Christensen What kind of camera did you guys use? Please let me know asap.
We shot on a RED Scarlet with Rokinon Cine lenses.
Nice! You guys use any other kind of cameras? Like say Canon or Sony?
I have a Canon C100 which is excellent. All of the Sony stuff is great. Every camera is awesome now.
Sweet! For making a film with this quality, instead of the RED camera, which would you prefer?
"Free Pretzels" "Out of Pretzels" haha nice touch
Loved it
Thanks for watching!
Albinos
legendary my favorite short film ever keep it up boys 👍👍👍👍👍
That was great! The ending in the original just gives you the willies...awesome seeing it in video form!
Loved the tone. I was watching this in a crowded train, and I was still spooked!
+Miguel Zamora Nice, I never think about where people watch these things. Thanks for sharing.
I just read the creepy pasta, and got chills up my spine. Then watching this, I got the same chills, along with that sense of, "No, don't do that, don't look in there, what are you doing!!!"
This was so good. I love what you did with the receptionist character. Loved his atmosphere and dialogue.
Thanks Jack! I really appreciate the kind words!
We are shooting another Creepy Pasta (I guess, I don't know if it was ever put on the official site, but it's in the same vein) next week!
Everything about this is perfect and subtle. I can appreciate the effort that went into it.
***** Thanks! It would have bene cooler if you were actually Morgan Freeman though :(
This was absolutely great. Everything - casting, direction, acting lighting, editing, sound, and lovely script. Thanks!
Thanks Wendy!
AMAZING cinematography and acting, I love this :)
Ha! Fantastic work. That last shot is a great payoff.
Thanks man!
Thanks for checking it out, scoopicman!
I really tried to stay close to the source material on this. Keeping the 'scare' less in your face and more a creepy sense of dread as the credits roll. Tried to capture the feeling I had when I read the story a couple of years back.
Beautifully shot! And I love this short story. So good.
This is AWESOME I connected it to my flat screen and watched it with pop corn and everything it felt like I was in theaters absolutely love it
Loved it! Very well done!
always have a cold shiver running down my back everytime I watch it, best short horror
Juleswhatever mess Thanks for watching, Jules!
The POV keyhole shot was great.
Awesome job!
EYE think my heart stopped*
*dies* Ba dam tshhh
Talk about deadly humor I died laughing
Archangel Raphael She's dead.
FINALLY!A CREEPY PASTA THAT HAS IT'S OWN VIDEO!I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THESE IN LIKE FOREVER!THIS IS THE FORST CREEPY PASTA THAT HAS EVER MADE BEEN MADE INTO A VIDEO!
So awesome
what happened to his suitcase when he walked into his room? He had one hand on the door and the other on the key and you can see him put it down. lol woops
When we filmed it, it slowed the shot down too much (walk up, drop the suitcase, get the keys, put the key in the hole (which he actually couldn't do because it was just taped onto the door...so he had to fake it, the key entering was done in post), turn and then push through. When he stopped the process to reach down and grab the suitcase, it looked slow and awkward. I didn't want to film it any other way, so I just said "Don't sweat it, no one will notice!"
You noticed. :)
Brandon Christensen That makes sense i was curious what happened to it. It was really hard to notice, i didnt even see it the first time i watched it, i saw it the third time (which btw i watched it multiple times because i loved it lol), but its nice to know the explanation on what happened to it, thanks for taking time out of your day to reply to my comment!
NOTE : I loved it! I hope you keep making shorts like these and keep up the good work!
TaylorTottss Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. It was just posted on "Chilling Tales For Dark Nights" CZcams Channel as well. Hopefully their 50K subscribers check it out!
Really nice! I also like that they offer "Free Pretzels", but are always out. ;)
If you notice, the "Out Of Pretzels" sign isn't up in the night time stuff...so someone went through their pretzel supply overnight. Typical.
This was so good. Fantastic Job!!!
Thanks Rocco!
the acting and filming was actually really well done. loved it
A very well done short film!
Cant believe how great this is! thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for checking it out!
AMAZINGGG
I really want to be doing things like this in a few years time, just for fun. I would love to be a film maker and director/writer and I love getting tips from things like this, which is perfect for me to get inspiration from. VERY well done, my friend, this is going into my favourites :) I can't stop watching it!!
Awesome! But don't say 'a few years time'...find a Creepy Pasta that you like and experiment. Watch some films and see how and why they shoot things the way they do. Gear is so cheap now that 500 dollars can get you everything you need to shoot a film.
Don't wait. Just do it!
Nike.
Brandon Christensen OMG you're such an inspiration!!! Ah you've given me so much hope now! But, unfortunately I'm still a teenager so I don't have to time (away from school) and money (no job!) to do things yet, BUT I still want to make shorts with the things I've got and go from there! I have a Canon DSLR that I film my videos on already, but I want to make an actual short fiction - if you look at my videos like vlogs and things, I don't really talk on them, I just film things and overlay music, but I want to get into more professional things like you! AH you're such an inspiration to me :) Thankyou so much!! I'll inform you when my first short is out :)
You have a Canon DSLR? You don't need money, you have everything you need right there. Hell, don't even bother with a narrative (since you have to worry about audio). Find a song that you like and come up with a creative way to tell a story to that song.
Experiment. The only thing stopping you is you. Even with schooling, you still have from 3:30p until bedtime to do something. And you have weekends.
Brandon Christensen Yeah I love the camera quality. I have been wanting to make a really good music video to a song where no one is miming, but instead telling a story behind the song in a reslly cool and different way, but I dunno which songs I would do yet. I have a book full of different shorts and music videos I could do, but none are really planned out fully yet, so you'll have to check back with me in a year or so to see what I've done with all the plans! I look forward to showing the world what I can do! Thankyou again so much, I will be sure to thank you for my inspiration at the end of my films :)
No prob. Just...don't think of anything as being a year away. There's no reason not to go out and just shoot something. Plans be damned. Get a feel for the camera, do some tests with framing. Even by yourself, there's a lot you can accomplish.
Uggggghhh this is one of my fav creepy stories ever ;u; so happy to see it made into a short film~
This was amazing! Looking forward to more short films
Thanks a lot!
Loved it!!! Amazing job
Thanks Creepy!
welcome :)
MORE CREEPY PASTA FILM'S! THAT WAS AWESOME!
The directory on this was absolutely magnificent, and in my opinion, added that boost. I am an aspiring director, and I can without a doubt say that it was brilliantly done.
Thanks Shereen!
Brandon Christensen No problem whatsoever! Did you direct this? (Sounds silly but yeah) x
Yes I did. I directed/shot and edited it.
Brandon Christensen What an amazing job, mate. You keep going at it, you'll be up there in no time (if you're not already) because you most definitely have it in you. Maybe we can direct sometime in the future together. Who knows?
Thanks Shereen, that's very kind of you to say.
Are you a director?
AWSOME! The first creepypasta I ever reed turned in to a mini-movie ^^
when the woman opened her mouth scared the shit out of me! Well done i enjoyed this subbed. Hope for more :3
Extraordinary !!!
That was great!
That was seriously amazing :D
This is actually very well done.
Well shot, well cast, damn well acted, and damn creepy. Well done :)
Pretty good. The look on him as he realized it at the end is great. Good actors and cinematography!
So it’s a staring contest you want
Well bring it on!!
Brilliant, a great adaption of a classic Creepypasta
This is great!
Thanks Marshall!
Great short. Very professional ! Also the Actor is handsome :)
+arethnea Thanks. Yes he is.
love it
Found your video linked on Listverse. Brilliantly done!
Thank you Steven!
Nice! That's was really good! One of my favorite creepypasta stories
Very good, this little shiver I had at the end when you learn that was a red eye x)
Max Vincenzi Nice! Thanks for watching!
Well done!
Like the blink at the end.
+Leza McLeod Thank you, that was my one big addition to the mythology.
one of my most favorite creepypasta. So well made and great acting! Love it
Chocotok Thanks Choco :)
that was great, aweaome!!! loved it!!
You actually did an amazing job with this! The color correction, the acting, the location... All fantastic! See it's stuff like this that gives me hope that its possible to adapt Creepypastas into something great.
Ryan Heiss Wow, thanks man, that's very nice of you to say. I'll be putting up a new one (Not technically a creepy pasta, but it's a short horror) pretty soon. In post on it now! Cheers man.
I imagined the premise to be more like an old rundown hotel instead of a motel when reading. But still very well made.
chaosinorderrr Thanks for watching. I've read the story with both a hotel and a motel, and I preferred the motel because of the inherent risk of looking into another room when the world can see. I wish it could have ben run down a bit more as well, but after over a year of scouting for a place, the run down ones didn't feel safe enough to bring expensive equipment.
this is officially my favorite short. Just wished it was longer
Thank you!
This was so awesome!!!!
Thanks man!
This was really good, just two criticisms, there were small details they left out of this, from the original CP, like it being a woman at the reception desk, and her playing it off as a storage closet, and the audio cuts were reeealy bad. Besides those things, quite well done.
Yeah, I changed the woman to man because I had worked with the actor so many times that I knew he'd be good there. The storage closet bit was rewritten because regardless he probably wouldn't look in there (Which is why I added the line "Why would I even do that?" To me the idea of looking in another room is absurd).
The audio is my least favorite thing about it...we had to delay the shoot from the date we wanted (it was a long weekend and the motel couldn't let us get rooms to shoot in). This delay put the audio guy out of availability so we just passed around the boom mic on set and it was overlooked. Total blunder.
***** Yeah, that's called room tone. Unfortunately we were rushing through and had to beat the sun (shot the morning stuff first, then the night stuff but had to be outside fast enough so we could get a somewhat-exposed exterior).
Ended up reshooting the exterior morning stuff anyway.
I think there’s different variations of the story. In the one I read, the woman at the front desk just said not to go in the room, she never said it was a storage closet.
That was creapy! Tnx!
Pretzel business = AWESOME! Well played. :)
Very well made! And as a creepy pasta fanatic and a director, I really enjoyed it. I hope to see more from you, very inspiring!
Thanks, I really appreciate that.
Superb.
This should have been a feature film.
Wow! I was really into the story, the first time I read it, and now I see this. Amazing, just like I had imagined it. Great work!
+EmbethJudith Thanks Judith!
Awesome!! I saw the title and new I had to watch this because I had read the creepy pasta!
+Rikki Stewart Nice!
That was fantastic! I loved it :D
Wow! You guys really made that one damn awesome! Make more haha!!
Now this is the kind of horror I love. I was terrified, no jump scares necessary.
Thanks Kristian. The first pass of the sound mix had a jump stinger on the bride and I felt it was too much. I do wish I held on that moment longer, that's my only real regret.
+Brandon Christensen Might've been good, but I think this works really well. It's short enough to not be a jump scare, but it still scared the crap out of me. I aspire to make a few horror movies myself, this is definitely goin in my inspirations folder
Do it! The internet is ripe with short horror stories to shoot. Just try and give credit where you can (I couldn't find the origin of this story to save my life). Get out there and make something.
+Brandon Christensen I've made a few things, mostly class projects. I just finished my sophomore year in film school so I'm just saving up for better equipment and such. I believe this is a creepy pasta, but I'm not certain.
yeah it's a Creepy Pasta, but no real author to speak of. if you're in school, you should have access to some gear. Use a DSLR, just make some stuff...practice!
Great adaptation of the story. Funny and scary.
Thanks for watching!
Bag outside. Dont moving the keys 😂😂 so funny this man haha
This has movie potential
Really well done. I enjoyed that!
tehraptortheo Thanks for watching, teh!
Amazing and really well acted as well! Great job :)
E KatD Thanks much :)
