Great to see you are enjoying the Pico 4 Mark, nice VR footage too. Thanks for the tips take care!
Thank you very much Mark, great video! I'm going to check those settings when I get home from work.
new to this channel, very good update review, excellent pace and clear voice. Lots of valuable tips as well.
Thank you Mark. Your videos are the best and most helpful.
Thank you Mark for all your good advises . Please also note that deleting the nividea or Amd shader cache solved a lot of stuttering issues i had after a card change or a Sim update .
Always look forward to these informative videos and i shall wait before getting this rather Huge Aircraft which I have seen in real and also seen it fly and also read alot about it long ago.
Many Many Thanks Mark, Much Appreciated Sir!! You are the Very Best!!
Long live Apply and Save. I by accident pressed Reset to Defaults. But also then you have to apply and safe. I chose for escape and then you can disregard. Learned something extra today. Thanks for this video again!
Once again, Mark proves why he is one of, if not THE preeminent MSFS CZcams resource.
There's a large number of people complaining in the MSFS Forum about loss of performance after the SU12 update. When they're told to delete their Rolling Cache, Manual Cache, and DX Shader Cache, they get back the fps and frame time numbers they had in SU11. I was one of those people, and learned that it's good practice to do this after every MSFS update, and to delete the Shader Cache after a GPU driver update as well. So far I'm enjoying the new update, and I agree that DX12 seems to be working well so far. Myself and others did notice a couple of things that weren't working well (some rotary encoders' behavior were wonky) but these are minor points that I'm hoping will be solved with future fixes. I was quite happy flying my Bonanza 1,000 ft. over Manhattan getting a very smooth, stable, and gorgeous 60 fps with 14ms frame time @ 1440P with my 5800X and RTX 3090 Ti. Can't wait to dial in my brand new Reverb G2. I finally got my prescription lens inserts from VR Optician installed yesterday. Yes, Mark, I took your advice from another video, and paid the extra $32.00 for the Blue Light filters. 😉
Blue light filters are worth every penny in my opinion 😊
Yes, I picked up the AN-2 also when I saw the price! Low and slow is always fun, also why I picked up the DHC-4 a few weeks back.
I would love to see content creators mention in the video or show notes what airports they are using in the video. Some of the airports look great and I for one would like to experience them myself.
The airport I used in the video was Aspen, Colorado as shown in the video 👍
@0:52 ✈
Thank you for the video
Great points Mark, Thanks'
Excellent information thanks mark 👍
👍
Always thank you Mark for your in depth advices!💪✈🛩🛬🛫🪂🚁🚀
Thanks for the SU12 housekeeping pointers Mark. Definitely seeing improved DX12 performance and details in the rendering. I'd say for me on RTX3060ti around 2fps. Sim loading seems a little quicker too. Trustt you are well and looking forward to Spring and longer days. Winter has definetely been too long and drawn out for me.
It is more or less the same. I am hoping that the next sim updates we see real improvements and VRAM management especially those of us that are running 16gb to 24gb cards.
I need some sunshine 😂 too
All went well this down load pleased to have more helicopter setting
Ace thx for the video❤
Glad to hear the update hasn't caused you any headaches. I always wait a few days before doing the update to see if there are any major hiccups. Please say the update didn't upset your graphics settings!! Thanks Mark.
No they remain unchanged 😊
Maybe not for Mark, but when I tried to install the update it stalled about 3/4 of the way and didn't recover. Now I'm stuck on the dreaded "checking for updates" screen. Going to have to do a reinstall
@Mark, thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!👍
Thanks for the video again. Is at your AN-2 also the image in the outside mirror upside down?
All I know is that I just switched to DX12 but kept TAA at 70% of my 4k res and deleted the shader cache and the performance is a lot better for me. DX12 did help smooth some things out.
Magnífico 👏 👏
Luckily for me the SU12 Update caused no problems thus far, by that I mean the 4 hours I was on the sim last night was problem free. Load up times did not reduce significantly for me unfortunately. Oh well, No biggie as the sim is smooth as ever. BTW I forgot to empty the community folder nd still no problems at all. The FPS, stuttering and general smoothness of the sim is still the same... Absolutely perfect! By that I mean high FPS(with or without DLSS3) Practically NO stuttering! So all in all, though to be hones I can't see any changes from SU11 to SU12 I'm still happy as nothing broke.😂
I envy people with a great internet connection, LOL/Cry!!!!
And I will add: Don't forget to update your FSUIPC. Since yesterday I had a big big stuttering issue since the SU12 update. An FSUIPC update has fixed the issue.
What exactly is FSUIPC?
Thanks for the tip. 👍
@@Mr.Martini549 It is a payware programming software to give you the ability to map multipule controls in your sim .
@@trip5003 Stuff the “professionals” use, of which I am not! 😁
Thanks Mark. Any sign of a manual for the AN-2. Couldn't find one in the folder etc. Bit hard all in Russian. Cheers.
Couldn’t find one either 😮
You must have made a phone call to MS/Asobo and directed them to "get it right" on SU12, Mark! Looks like it worked...
I know everyone is crowing about her bigger brother (and for good reason!), but I love these older planes...sort of "stop and smell the roses" kind of flights. Are you flying the AN-2 under a generic controller profile or did you make a custom one?
Cheers!
Using my song;e prop TPM config 😊
@@SimHangerFS Thank you sir!
Are you using just one control axis for BOTH engines, or did you split things out to two controls axes / two engines?
Great video! Are u using Tobii or Trackir?
Tobii for me 👍
Edit: Wishful thinking I was incorrect on the following post: It appears that I was not loading Photogrammetry cities! Plus the Med/High scaling has been changed and I was grabbing a smaller area in High mode. Sorry folks!!! ....... One amazing thing I just noticed about Manual Cache files is that they are a (TINY FRACTION) of the size they used to be!!!!!!!!! (So far they are about 1/10th the size!!!!) I am wondering what that means to normal ground files being downloaded while flying? If they are compressed too like these manual cached files then folks like me have our bandwidth troubles solved!!!! And manual cache is no longer needed? Need to check that out very soon.
Interesting observation 👍
I had 8 FPS with Pimax 8kX, OpenXR. I turned the turbo option on inside the OpenXR and it jumped to 34 FPS. Hope it helps .
What mod are you using (if any). I like the radio stack and the passenger seats :) I bought this AC a few minutes ago and found it did not look like what exactly in this video (still fun to fly though, lol)
Choose the GNS530 model variant…it’ll look the same.
Where can I find the model variant? I have done a search, cannot find it. Thinking perhaps Github?
@@davidcrum1906 it is part of the install, will be in your aircraft folder. It is the AN 2 GNS 530/430 model.
@@SimHangerFS Got it!!! Thx!!!
Hi Mark, I knew about renaming the Community folder temporarily and deleting the Rolling Cache, before installing any update (SU/WU). Your advice to also complete a "clean disk" command (DX shader cache) is new to me and certainly solved now a few "SU12" issues at my end. However, I still get the impression to have a notable longer loading times. We should compile and therefore safeguard all of your advice's in a kind of practical MSFS2020 Update Guide. Being a simmer for more than 25 years, I'm still learning from you. Many thanks!
Any ideas how to get rid of flickering in TAA (2560 x 1440) ? Tried to play around with that AMD sharpening, but its not the solution. Fences and antennas, as well as fine horizontal lines in cockpit are a pain.
I’m having some problems using dx 12 autopilot feature works when it wants to especially doing and I LS flight using the Tbm 930 and the vav button doesn’t work on cesna check 4 citation .maybe you could check it out and do a video on it or try it out and let me know if this is happening to you. I have my cashe file turned off do I still have to delete it if I’m not using it.
DId you notice a lack of drone mode or external freelook with the AN-2? I have drone/slew on the Xbox controller and things normally work fine. With the AN-2, though, if I go to drone mode, it goes to the back only and won't move from there. Pulling the menu bar down and clicking an "camera", in showcase, under drone, follow and lock are grayed out and won't take any input. Out of drone, if I switch to external view, it goes directly to what looks liked a fixed camera position on the right wing and I can't get any other views. I used the same profile on a different plane and things worked perfectly. Just me (binding issue), or have others noticed the same thing? 🤔
No problems my end with external, didn’t check drone mode. Will do today.
Might have been an initial start-up anomoly...it was working OK on later attempts. Oddly, though it just seemed to be on the one flight model, not the ones with skis, pontoons and the "simple" wheels...enjoy!
Do you have any information about the world editing which is coming soon for everyone to use to improve airport scenery.
No I am not aware of this.
dont know why but if i delete cache, and apply/save , when i open setting again cache is on OFF position
I've been getting CPU main-thread spikes for a while now that I can't shake. I've gone as far as doing a fresh Windows install.
how come that at the beginning you set a Hungarian registration? :) btw HA-POD was a Polikarpov Po-2. :)
It’s a default reg for this variant in sim.
Having spent some weeks tranferring from XBOX to PC and established some sort of stability in the Simloading process, I wanted to show my brother who was visiting from Scotland, msfs2020, On loading, I got a message telling me I had a mandatory update so i complied. On running starting the sim I am now unable to load flight plns into the sim!! Arrrggghhh! I had moved msfs to a faster pcie4 SSD and it was working fine. Windows uses shortcuts in the original CommunityFolder to access the new drive location.. I think that may be part of the problem. I didn't realise this update was SU12 (why on earth do they not label it as such) nor can I find directly where it identifies SU12 - although I googled the ident issue and discovered the version number loaded does indeed correspond to SU12 - 1.31.22.0. As far as I can see, SU12 isn't even mentioned in the Release Notes. How on earth is a newbie meant to know that this release is SU12?
Hi guys, does anyone know why my rolling cache still won't work? it instantly goes to 100% & that's it, I have to restart the sim & it still won't work, I don't know what to do about that
My helicopter is behaving weird now. I start it up then it just dies. Rotors turning at high speed but no power. :(
I have noticed, on my system, with an I7-10700 and a rtx 3060 I get higher FPS with DX12 Beta
Are you using DLSS?
@@853massey no
I’m a console player, now if I buy the scenery such as an airport. Would I be able to view the inside of the airport or am I just getting a shell with 3d images of the outside? If so I see no reason paying a significant amount for that
It depends on the airport and developer.
So here's what I did after the SU12 installed... I had to reinstall whole the game. To be fair this is only the second time I'd had to do this and the first was probably my fault, so I've had mostly good experiences with the installation of patches... The game wouldn't load and froze at the new activities screen, the sim crashed a couple of times during the installation. Gutted. I did play on another PC I had MSFS installed and the first thing I did was buy the Antonov from the Marketplace. Second thing was trying to get to grips with the DC3, that thing is so fragile on take off!
my entire xbox series x msfs add-ons disappeared one week after sim update 12! I can't believe that!!!!!
Clouds are really grainy now even on max setting after this update..
set FilmGrain to 0 in the UserCfg.out
it helped me
I haven’t noticed that. Will check it out tomorrow.
Same here very annoying
Just GPS, no AP?
I deleted the Rolling Cahce and now whenever I want to start a flight the loading screen just stops at about 80 percent and nothing happens.
Odd. Rolling Cashe is simply a ‘’storage’’ area. Remove the cache completely and rebuild it. Shut down and restart should do the trick.
@@SimHangerFS Yeahhhhhh.... I may have jumped the gun there a little. Today everything is working as it should. So restarting the computer did it. Thanks !
@Marcus, I had the same yesterday as well. Was so fed up with it I did not retry yet. Probably I should. The weird thing is when I’m in 2D mode then the flight loads and starts in seconds. When in VR hung up at about 80% indeed. When I start in 2D, start the flight and then switch to VR all is good though…
Well…. Except it seems server disconnects and switching to off line happens not even after being 1 minute in the air. Sooooo annoying
Since installing SU12 a number of strange things have occurred -- In the Content Manager left column it shows "Installed (272} , the "Not Instaaled"(0)" "Update Available(0) "Installing(0)" are all greyed out -- "Selected" is functioning normaaly. On the main page when I click on my Username in the top right hand corner it shows My Username 1.31.22.0 , "STATUS" Offline but it is "greyed out" immediately underneath it shows "MULTIPLAYER SERVERS" and under this "SIGN OUT" When I select an aircraft and a departure Airport and select "Flight Conditions"- "Multiplayer" is completely Greyed Out -- Live Traffic and Live Weather are also Greyed Out - I apologize for the length of my post but I am completely stuck so any comment/advice would be very much appreciated
Just to update my post - I uninstalled and started again -- this solved most of the problems but still on the main page when I click on my Username in the top right hand corner it shows my Username - 1.31.22.0 . "STATUS" Offline but it is "greyed out" immediately underneath it shows "MULTIPLAYER SERVERS" and underneath that it shows "SOUTH EAST ASIA 108MS but this is also greyed out - I guess logically this is because my Status is shown as Offline - would greatly appreciate any advice as to how I can change my Status to Online - I have a solid Internet connection -- thanks in anticipation
Found a solution elsewhere -- Thanks Anyway!
@@NormanHolden hi Norman, just seen your messages. Sorry so many it is easy to miss some. What was the solution? I would have suggested logging out and back in to your MS account?
@@SimHangerFS G'day Mark - thanks for the response - appreciated . The apparent cause for the "STATUS" Offline etc was due to In Sim / General Options /Data / Data Connection / Multiplayer was turned "Off" -- turned it "On" - problem solved - Cheers
Unfortunately my Sim does not stream online data anymore, keep getting bandwidth too low message and the sim crashes, pffffffff.
Same here. 'Glad' to read that I'm not the only one. I have more then 100 MBit (test via Speedtest), but FS keeps telling me 'Your bandwidth is too low for data streaming....'
At least the sim crashes stopped on my side.
@@michaelw.9013 hope we find a solution soon
This is a periodic sim problem, Asobo aware.
Thanks for the info, hope they fix it ASAP
For me the issue is fixed since yesterday, great.
I was making a flight yesterday, after 3 hours of flight, i was on short final and the sim crash to desckty....this can't happen anymore, i did correctly the installation of the update, following a tutorial, anybody experiment the same?
I’ve been okay so far, about 5 hours in-sim, but longest single period about 1.5 hours.
The lights on my Honeycomb Bravo stopped working after SU 12 update. Anybody else had the same problem
Are you using ‘Better Bravo Lights’ . Works better than the AFC bridge one.
Pilot Assistance reset to Easy for me (as it usually seems to). I monitored CPU usage, as well as GPU, on a quick test of the F14B supersonic over Manhatten at 1000 feet 🙂. My 13900K seemed to be maxing out the 8 P Cores on 4K Full Ultra (but not their hyperthreads or the E Cores) so I think DX12 has indeed been improved, or at least is in the process thereof. The GPU was only at about 60% load so still CPU bound. FPS was good with TAA and Frame Generation giving 70ish FPS over this demanding location. Edit: Forgot to say that the GPU is a 4090 TUF OC.
Appreciate the feedback 👍
I don't know if it's just me but i can't get the FPS counter to work in developer mode anymore .
I used it this pm…worked fine? I’ll check again tomorrow.
@SimHanger Flight Simulation OK thanks I switched on developer mode and nothing .
@@jeffreyuprichard3754 did you go to the Debug menu to activate it?
@@stevereddy342 No,please explain I just did the normal.
@@jeffreyuprichard3754 hi mate, so as you did before just enable developer mode then click on debug menu and scroll down to the fps line. Click on that and it will appear on the right top of screen.
Why delete the cache?
It clears out previous shaders and scenery files and allows full space to load up current data, thus in theory faster load and less stutters etc.
Thanks Bro for your video : ) but I'm tired of updates, every time I lose a lot of time installing and configure my settings, this simulator is getting worse and before this last update I was getting better frame rates.,why they don't make 1 version for xbox and one for PC because the performance and graphics for the PC are worst every time 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I understand your frustrations
@@SimHangerFS Hello ! sorry maybe I'm wrong the A320 fenix feels very laggy after the SU12 update because I was using the 737 PMDG and I'm getting same frame rates like befroe this SU12 update.,So maybe the problem is the A320 fenix and not MSFS 2020 Thanks and have a nice day 😁👍
@@cieloaltoa3405 yeah, might need an update. 👍
Before update or after update delete?
Not essential, best before but after works fine, do it before you load into a flight.
Too bad Pico is not sold in the USA
Is msfs only played in the UK? All these videos are from the same kind of people from the UK. Where are the Americans?
