This video fails to mention the no.1 reason why the Empire expanded. It was not gunpowder or ships or victory, it was the concept of British Liberty that made people happy with Colonial rule. Lets look at India very quickly:
The Portuguese arrived first and began to exert their authority but were notoriously corrupt.
The French followed but treated the natives absolutely horribly.
Then the British came and this is what they did:
Sir Charles Napier, coming to India and seeing the natives practice the ritualistic burning of widowed women, told the Indians that "This is your custom and I allow it, but my nation also has a custom. When Men burn women, we hang them and confiscate their property. If I respect your custom, you must respect mine" and widow burning soon stopped.
Also, when the East India Company hired Buddhists as levies and gave them guns which you had to load by biting a leather/animal-fat casing off the bullet, the Indians revolved because it was incredibly offensive to their religion. Britain responded by wholly dissolving the East India Company and giving more autonomy to the native Indian Princes under the now-British Raj.
Clearly, the British knew how to treat their subjects: We will respect your culture, if you will respect ours!

While the concept of British Liberty might have influenced some aspects of the Empire's expansion, it is important to recognize that the primary drivers were indeed military power, strategic naval dominance, and economic interests. The British Empire's growth was often accompanied by resistance and conflict, as well as imposition of control over local populations. The idea of liberty played a role in certain contexts, but it doesn't fully capture the complexity and often coercive nature of colonial rule.
