Heck with the deck...you can be creative! My point and the major point is....the aluminum tunes!!!! If you run into a situation where you get a Split or slice in the tune itself...where sinking is at hand. One of our instant fixes, and this happened trying to get out of the ice in Wisconsin...was to always carry, three bicycle inter tubes, a plastic bag of shipping peanuts, and a small tube of liquid weld! The ice is what cut the hole...might I say. We pulled the pontoon to shore after the breach...blew up the inner tubes inside the breached section and packed in with the shipping nuts....we used liquid weld to seal...that fix got us back to the landing for extraction...8 miles from the breach! Hope this helps! Cool project! Yet, be prepared...oh yeah, have an air compressor on board! We did pier, dock, and salvage, so we had the extra gear.
Its great to see a video from you. The one thing that I notice is that you have a great work ethic, as in you are willing to put in the hard work to keep accomplishing to the next level. Too many people your age expect things to be handed to them and they want the top of the line. Kudos to you buddy. Good luck with your schooling.
I think you done good!! Your all ways up grading!!! You all so have two angles for parents!!! They sure are patient with you an your hobbies! PITA III is my vote for a name! LOL Good luck with your build! An as all ways, Thanks for taking US along!!!
This looks like it will be a REALLY interesting series. The boat is presently such a mess but I am sure you will do a nice job on it and I can't wait to see what you do with it.
You bought a Honda that came with a boat. If I were you, I'd look at aluminum under decking. It's lighter than 3/4 plywood. I'd add an axle to your trailer, just makes it easier to back up and more stable at hwy speeds. If you can find a pontoon log you add it to the center to help keep you out of the water. Don't do vinyl flooring, it gets really hot in the sun, burn your feet hot. Boat names: Jenny , S.S. Minnow, Bubba, twin logs
Great Job! Great deal! Here are a few suggestions: Check into an aluminum floor. It may be price prohibitive. However, you may be able to find second hand aluminum floors from wrecked box trucks, etc. Also, you may need a tandem axle instead of single. Otherwise, you have a great project. Good luck!
Hey don't worry about taking a long leave from CZcams, you've got school to do as you said, just so long as it isn't a permanent leave I'm happy. That said if you can find the time to make more videos that would be great because I love them! Also FIRST (I think).
Looking forward to the project. Just a heads up if you havent figured it out yet... the 50hp Honda 4 stroke replaced the 45hp in 1995 so your motor is pre 95. Likely mid-late 80s. Id be interested to find out if you learn the exact date. Good luck with the build.
I really enjoy all your videos Kenny! But I'd really like to see some more bushcraft subjects from you. You're bushcraft vids are some of the best out there Imo. Btw are you planning on going to the Pathfinder gathering this summer? I'll be attending my first one, it'd be cool to meet you in person! Take care Steve
+Explorers Of The Wild I agree with you man it is time for some more bushcraft videos. It has been a while. I guess I've been on a wild hair to do this kind of stuff lately but I plan on doing some backpacking this summer so I'll be needing to start working on my pack again. I'll definitely get some videos in the can for you on that subject soon.
+Explorers Of The Wild Probably not buddy. Kind of disappointing in the turn out the last 2 years I've gone. I don't really want to drop another $600 bucks to do a trip up there if a lot of the guys I like seeing aren't going to be there. Honestly Dave didn't give me much a conversation last time I was up there either so can't say I'm pumped to go again.
Here is a suggestion for a name for your pontoon boat, how about calling it Probation. If anyone was looking for you someone can say Kenny's out on Probation.
hey you gotta start some where and you from what I see you got this!! I love seeing today's youth actually doing work to get what they want! Go thank your parents for me. And reach for the moon!
Yes we miss you , however education first. You are going to be busy with that pontoon boat, I know you will get it done. As far as a name.. Shangrala or Xanadau spelling may not be correct but you get it.. Always nice to see your videos Kenny.
I have always thought a good name for a boat would be POGO - that is an anagram for Put Out or Get Out. It would have meaning for a boat or the passengers.
i used a honda four stroke 2,5hk for like 10+ years now. never been in need of any repairs atall. and it dont drink much gasoline either ..actually very very little. mine is aircooled tho and its very loud. hope u got the watercooled one
Also, I think you got a good deal if the motor turns out to be good, which sounds like it is, and it floats, you did good for $800, especially considering only $100 net came out of pocket due to the sale of the other one.
Next boat will be a Nitro Z-9, haha! I'm wishing I wouldn't have sold my truck but driving 300 miles every week for college wouldn't have been so much fun with 15mpg. I got a canoe last year and I don't really have any way of transporting it unless I just walk with it. What are you going to college for? And I've been subbed to your channel for years now and I'm sure you'll do some great work on that boat Kenny! Take care brother!
+Brennan Jones - Bushcraft and Survival I could never sell my truck! There is no way I could function on a weekly basis without it. I commute as well and the 14 mpg is not fun but you can't have the best of both worlds. I am majoring in Construction Engineering. Thanks for the support buddy, I appreciate it!
+BraveTheWilds I'll be looking to buy a new one before too long. Hopefully I'll find one by mid fall. And good luck with college bro. I'm going for Photography right now at a community college. Not sure what I wanna do afterwards but so far I love it. Take care Kenny!
+scykindaguy They're a new pair of Justin's that replaced the old pair I had warrantied. I might mention them in a couple months when I've gotten some experience with them.
My sister and I took our kayaks out river fishing yesterday.Caught some nice Smallies.I hope to get my wife and granddaughters out on our inflatable kayak this summer.
Actually I do know how much they run. Btw for the price that he stated they'ed go for new is not what they'ed go for used no matter how well cleaned and oiled. No one is gonna pay the same price for a used item that they would for a new one. Items such as cars and boats depreciate in value over the years. You don't know me well enough to tell me what I do and don't know. I understand the boat he has is a project piece but lets be real, for all the work he's about to do on it he's basically building the boat using the foundation. Aside from a few good parts everything else is junk. Yes this is his project but 800.00 was too much.
I know you took my response personally and now ur asshurt. better yet prove me wrong. Prove that everything ive said in the last comment is wrong. If you cannot do that then I suggest you stfu. Please don't come with feelings come with facts.
***** Dude, he can sell the boat for 3x that much but way after it's redone, the boat in it's current condition isn't worth. It's as ifyou do not see the boat in the video at all! Like i've said before, aside from a few parts that are currently on the boat now which can be saved including the motor he is rebuilding the boat using the boat's foundation. In short he's scrapping 85% of the boat right off the bat. Also fact is vehicles depreciate in value over time. In fact, buy a car or boat, drive it off the lot then bring it back within 24hrs and the price has already depreciated. If he cleaned that motor up extremely well it still wouldn't go for the price its going for at a retail shop like cabelas, None of us are gonna know what condition the motor is in until its functioning in the water. Can you debate a topic at all? You were asked to prove what you said, I just prove why I think 800.00 was too much. Lets be real, this is the internet, you can't make anyone cry like a bitch anymore than I can make you stfu. At the very least before you go insulting someone's intelligence at least prove your point, present your argument.
+Squatting Bear seen the same motor go for 1900. 800 was totaly worth it. dont argue with 28 years of experience and the truth that is out there if you try search for it. yes the one that got sold for 1900 was in better cosmetic condition but 1000+ is not hard to sell for. and he have a fun project. BUT it all depends how the engine runs....might be a reason it was that cheap:P jsut becasue it starts in a barrel it doesnt mean it runs good
Take that four stroke off and sell the damn thing. A two stroke 45 will perform far better for recreational use. Four strokes don't make anywhere near enough rpm to be practical for skiing/ tubing etc.
Heck with the deck...you can be creative! My point and the major point is....the aluminum tunes!!!! Name it Brave the Waters. Love the videos. Welcome back, and keep up the good work!
You're wise beyond your years! Been a sub for a while now. I like the path you are on. Keep it up fella.
+SleepyHollowOutdoors I appreciate that. Thanks
I think you done good!! Your all ways up grading!!! You all so have two angles for parents!!! They sure are patient with you an your hobbies! PITA III is my vote for a name! LOL Good luck with your build! An as all ways, Thanks for taking US along!!!
Nice find man, excited to see you get started on the project.
This looks like it will be a REALLY interesting series. The boat is presently such a mess but I am sure you will do a nice job on it and I can't wait to see what you do with it.
Good to see you again. Very cool boat
Hey guys Lilly's here! Everyone cheer for Lilly!👏👏👏👏🌲🌳🌳🌲🍂🍂🌻

Love your videos. There can only be one name for the boat "BRAVE THE WILDS"
Looking forward to the project. Just a heads up if you havent figured it out yet... the 50hp Honda 4 stroke replaced the 45hp in 1995 so your motor is pre 95. Likely mid-late 80s. Id be interested to find out if you learn the exact date. Good luck with the build.
Very cool project!
You made a great.
I am excited to see this project progress. I want to do the same.
looking good!
good motor!

+BraveTheWilds $600? Wow I thought the tickets where only $150?
+Explorers Of The Wild He has to drive there. I think he's adding those expenses, as well.
you did well keep up the good work
Here is a suggestion for a name for your pontoon boat, how about calling it Probation. If anyone was looking for you someone can say Kenny's out on Probation.

Honda 4strokes have been around since 2000 or maybe earlier. I remember seeing them when I bass fished a lot back then.
Good to see you,Ken. How about "Brave the water/pond/lake/creek" for a boat name to match the youtube name?
Ok, Name submissions: Either "Brave the Waters" or how about "Chapter of the Boat"....lol
Nice project Kenny.
Also, I think you got a good deal if the motor turns out to be good, which sounds like it is, and it floats, you did good for $800, especially considering only $100 net came out of pocket due to the sale of the other one.
Damn, that motor looks remarkably clean.
Next boat will be a Nitro Z-9, haha! I'm wishing I wouldn't have sold my truck but driving 300 miles every week for college wouldn't have been so much fun with 15mpg. nice video but 800.00 in my opinion was way too much.
+Squatting Bear i guess u have no idea how much them motors are worth:P jsut the motor made the price awesome
