The home pair were leading Miyaura and Sakuramoto in the final set of the match when the rally began. More than three minutes later, after a jaw-dropping showcase of athleticism and perseverance, Tan produced a well-disguised drop shot, which Sakuramoto could not reach, to seal the point, bringing an incredulous crowd to their feet. The home hopes then went on to seal a 21-17, 18-21, 21-19 victory.

At that level, it’s goodminton.
Godminton 😂
😆 spot on
nah, it's greatminton
BasedMinton
HA
To put that into context, the average rally for elite women's doubles is about 10-11 seconds long with average 9 to 11 strokes. In the olympics 2016 in Rio the longest women's double rally per match was around 51 seconds long with 56 strokes.
So playing for 211 strokes for over 3 minutes is utterly insane, remember this is the third set and they already played for about one hour
this record is also insane: Playing WD match for 2hours 41 minutes
Thanks for that context says it all!
1hour + not 2hour
@@durienthyme5947 He didn't said 2 hours tho
Not to mention there were dives and jump smashes as well
She missed out of pure exhaustion. Hat off to all 4 ladies for such an epic battle
I witnessed this rally in front of my eyes, that was the most amazing rally that I've ever seen in my life.
thats a story
I was there. I was the racket
@@Aquablecs I was the net.
why lie to strangers on the internet? is it an attention thing?
Me too! I was that ladder the ref climbs on :)
Amazing determination from all 4 players. The drop shot was genius.
It was not just a drop, it was highly deceptive one, caught the opponent flat footed
Which one? Lol
If you watched the video, she had only been playing drop shots the entire rally, she was too tired to ever smash. At that moment it would have been difficult to figure it out - but the Japanese players could have treated every return of hers as a drop shot.
easy sport. hence why they can rally so long. the birdie travels slow, so easy to defend.
@@nofurtherwest3474 the fastest tennis serve speed 253 km/h, fastest badminton smash 493 km/h...
Their teamwork is almost as amazing as their endurance. There were numerous chances for confusion but they always knew who should take each shot.
I get breathless just watching this insane rally. At times, both set of players were ready to give up but for their willpower.
This was in the ending stages of the third half in Malaysia. This level of endurance is out of the world.
does that mean this was in overtime? I don't follow this sport.
@@bmac8322yes, the third set is played if both sides have won a set each. This was nearing the end of overtime, making it incredible
Not it’s not. The mass of the racket is low, and they barely even move. This is not tennis or socer
@@xl000 Don’t speak on a topic you clearly know little to nothing about. Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world, with intricate fast movements and anaerobic plymetric activity mixed in with aerobic fitness. Badminton players have been tested and show the same fitness levels as Olympic marathon runners, look up Marcus Ellis being tested on the Olympic CZcams channel.
@@xl000 Its not about the weight of the racket or long runs. The micro movements, sudden changes in direction require a lot of agility. Plus the shots require incredible balance and footwork. Its hard. As someone who swam and played football, I can tell you playing three sets in an indoor stadium during winters is taxing. Specially at this level.
When Guardian sports post such clip it means something special!
My thoughts too.. 😂 and I agree this is definitely special. Epic is the word. This should go into book of records. We salute both pairs for engaging in this wonderful rally that became talk of the town!
Hats off to both pairs... 🙌🙇
So? What does it gona make difference?
@@wongwendy4325 Talk of the world*!
@@littleman787 Yes, you are right. The whole world!
Most underrated sport ever exists, i have seen kids frequently playing this game in Denmark 😊
speediest game in the world.
its denmark national game 😅
Are u people from Western alien to badminton
I love this sport but its not as easily accessible as other sports.
not that it is not accessible but because westerners do not excel in this sport except denmark and UK.
So this sport is under rated and many westerners are not keen and interested as the money prize isn't much.
Westerners are bigger built, they are less likely to participate in this sport, so the media do not promote it.
Doesn't matter if westerners aren't interested as long as Asians are able to dominate it.
It doesn't cost much to build a badminton court. In malaysia many schools have badminton and basketball courts. It depends on the govt whether they are keen or not. There a cheaper version rackets used by students.
You don't need a professional racket which is pricey as students can't afford to buy.
You just create a passion to play badminton starting from young age.
This game used to be a commonwealth game.
Tears to my eyes ...to. the determination... the sweat the focus ... the stamina they beeng hold to.. and ..all thr for they own country ... ..huge respect to 4 players!!
Epic, absolutely epic. You don't even have to be a badminton player to appreciate the skill and tenacity required ot push one rally this far. Wow.
That rally was about 200 shots longer than anything I've ever participated in. Awesome to watch, so many excellent shots and saves.
This is so insane. Both teams deserved that point.
The real winner is the indomitable human spirit exhibited by all 4 individuals.
They are not human beings dude they are f*cking goddesses!!!!
More like indomitable jealousy of women. If it was men someone would have let it go.. or won it quick
I love it when fan are allow to appreciate the rally.. if this was tennis... "thank you, thank you, silence please"
cause tennis is such a pretentious sport. xD
Badminton is more struggle, full stamina..don't compare with tennis..tennis rest a lot
Try and play tennis before you say something
The amount of fitness required for both sports in incredible
Badminton is trash
@@furqanmachinetech7975 😢😂😂😂.
Keep it up girls.we need more talented players like you in Malaysia.
Don’t you guys have enough ? lol
These ladies are crazy strong. I would die if I had to be in that rally
stop it
@johnames6430 commenter might be a lady, so that's OK.
@@johnames6430stop what???
Never thought badminton could ever get this exciting. For the rally to last that long is incredible. And all for one point.
This Malaysian pair is one of my favourite... WD pairs., Very fun to watch... Very animated.. as I have seen the match live so this time.
For most of the i was watching the reaction of Malaysian coach rexy Manicy who is himself is an Olympic gold medalist.
These MAS ladies always seem to have long rallies which is surprising because Thinaah's smash is legit.
These endless rallies usually devolve into both teams trying to outlast each other with clears and are boring. This was endless aggression and quality shots.
John is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will... something you know very little about. He once won a badminton point in 211 strokes!!!
The footage of this rally was so exciting that I forgot to look at the score until the video was about to end.
pecah rekod dunia badminton 1 mata dgn melebihi 200 pukulan🤣😂😂,,giler betull game ni la,,,azam semangat yg tinggi ,,,luar biasa,💪,nk tercabuy nyawa dibuat yer..
hahaha lepas main byk org interview mrk pulak... thinaah dan pearly pun dh kata, tak rasa apa2 skrg cuma nak rehat je dah letih gila dah... mrk masih lagi tanya byk soalan. Pearly dan Thinaah pun sudah tak tahan hahahaha
Doesn't get more hyped than that...the crowd will remember that rally forever.
Truly amazing rally.
I am exhausted watching this...😅
Well done to both sets of players!💪
Great performance by all 4 players.
BRILLIANT!!! And everyone is still smiling 😊😊
Loved to hear the commentary for this.
Outstanding. As a teenager I played competition level badminton, and I find plays like this exhilarating. A great show for the spectators.
If you've played as a teenager, you also know how extremely taxing that must be. They already played 2 sets before this.. ridiculous endurance and stamina.
@sejed3 Indeed. Without exaggerating, I used to lose 2kg during games. All in perspiration. 😅😅. When you make that shuttle travel at speeds of 120km/h, and you play all-out it is a fantastic game. Keeping a play going like these women is exceptional. You have to be in top form.
yes but a waste of time, hit it gently over the net to score
Kind of rally that anyone who’s played sports appreciates & cherishes
The longest tiring rally ever in the world of badminton. Wow!
Wow, the level was amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Epic comeback bravo Malaysia girls 🎉
we should STILL be hearing the THUNDEROUS OVATION from the audience!
Incredible stamina displayed by all 4 players
I was waiting for the rally to end after each shot, perfectly knowing that it's far from the video ending
All of that effort just for a single score.
trully admirable.
Absolutely stunning, the power, control, feints and endurance... just WOW!
Semalam punye game S/F ada 3 kali longest rally dorang buat,186shoot/151shoot/160shoot rasa boleh masuk world recod jugak ni...giler game semalam street set berlangsung 96mnit....
Malaysia boleh! 🇲🇾✨
Thank you, Guardian Sport.
Holy moly! That is like a month's worth of working out for me. Past the midway mark they must have been driving on reflexes alone.
Amazing crowd!
Wow! That was insanely awesome performance!
That was insane to watch and it brought out the best in women's sports.
What an amazing play by this pair 😲
Nice Malaysian team. I really like both of Malaysia player. Keep it up!!!
These are the shots that determines the flow of the competition
The needed aggression and endurance to form a decent attack and defense throughout the rally is insane, had they thrown up a half-assed shot anywhere, the other team would have got the point.
Thoroughly impressed by these respectable athletes
Wow these are the great players. amazing
badminton is a very technical sport. one of the best.
that was amazing, well played to both teams
Amazing how they don't lose concentration. I'd have started giggling after 30 seconds or so
Amazing Physical Condition the players are in....WOW!!
What strikes me is one player from each team fell on the ground and their teamates just doesn't care, lol. Winning that point I would hug my partner like there's no tomorrow !
Wow Bravo to all the 4 women that was amazing to watch what a match !
Congratulation Malaysia from Singapore
I think I’m gonna need a lie down after watching that! Unbelievable entertainment, pure skill, relentless stamina. This resembles what sport is in nutshell.
Thanks!
Wonderful match.
this is the longest rally in badminton I ever seen in my life 👏
The last shot was a drop. Turns out all it takes sometimes is a strategic shot to trick your opponents instead of a predictable smash!
I started watching the slo mo replay when i was twelve years old. I'm now 20.
I never would've thought Badminton could be this intense!
The heartrate shoot to 300bpm. Their heart and vane made from steel.
The talent level of these 4 women is otherwordly astounding!
This is really awesome but I wish we had a better or more dynamic camera angle
It’s Honour to See yours play.
At the end exhaustion win. Great game by both
What a great rally.
These kind of women are what I call STRONG!!!! Amazing!
Hats off...🙌🙇
Amazing rally. They're trying to set a guinnies world record 😊
No, they were just trying to win, plus this was not the championship match and each pair wanted to get over with to conserve energy for next round.
New respect for this sport
Rallies of the century
Absolutely world class in any athletic arena
I am surprised nobody collapsed during the rally. Their fitness level is insane...
Was fascinated watching the last Olympics. Women's badminton was intense and fun to watch.
The most intense sport ever. Every year, you hear people dying after playing badminton in Malaysia.
@@ozzy12390 yes
Lol
@@ozzy12390 Yes, heart attack. Usually after playing doubles. Badminton doubles is very fast. Stressful and physical because it requires full attention and very quick reaction. It’s like trying to play ‘room size’ wack a mole because the shuttercock comes back very fast.
Maybe vaccines have something to do with it.
@@takatukka666 long before there was the Covid vaccine, badminton was rated the most dangerous sport in Malaysia by the rate of people dying on court.
I finished two burgers before the video ends

I want to try badminton. I remember being taught it in PE in middle school
If you listen closely you can hear the shuttlecock begging for mercy😂
Amazing rally....link to watch the whole match?
如果每次都遇到这样的对手 ,少一点耐力和毅力都不行 ,汗水也会被流干了 !!!!
😂😂😂
👏👏👏
Wow... As thrilling as world rally championship..
cant imagine the pain and tiredness in their legs.
Jello leg, same as finishing half marathon or full marathon 😅 imagine in this match they are trailing each other dragging it to 3 set rubber game and finishing it with 107 minutes in total 😨
The shoulder pain is PALPABLE
Epic match
amazing rally. ❤❤❤❤
I'm getting a cramp watching this while sitting on my couch. How could they still go on?
Appreciate the shuttlecock withstands till the end#
In the context, I have a video of me playing a set of singles with my mate, which i won 21-18, it lasted 9 minutes. This rally is nearly half the length, (and i bet at least half my video is walking around between the points.)
Amezing rally...... Olympian's Game
Outstanding!
This is amazing
Wow!
This was mind blowing 😮😮😮
someone tells the Guiness Book, these guys still have a 2010 record of 154 rally in their record
my legs and hands are dead and i m breathing heavily just by watching this
