    Motion designer for 20 years now. A lot of my projects rely on tuts like this saving me hours and hours trying to figure something like this out. I have the utmost respect and appreciated for people who share content like this. Back in the day you had to order books and DVD's, or ask an old curmudgeon colleague and hoped they were cool enough to share their knowledge. Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial !! it really helped me understand one way of playing around with cloth sims !! One thing I wanted to ask though, the sim looks really nice but there is something super important in my opinion that is missing, which would really make that sim perfect : the self collision. I tried to play around with it in the cloth tag within the expert tab, but I lose that cool silk feel of the cloth when floating (plus, the self collision in expert tab make the mesh cross each other anyway at some place of the plane) I was wondering if you had any idea on how to make it look nice, keeping that silky smoothnes of the sim while having a self collision ? thanks again for the video !!

      Thanks for the comment Oussama. I have heard that other people have the same problem. The tutorial has some bumps and caveats, but I think the solution to the problem is to use the new and improved cloth simulation in cinema R26. I know that for some people this isn't ideal but in the way that cinema works i don't think you have any other options.

    Hi, thanks for this wonderful tutorial. I followed each and every step exactly the way you explained but my cloth starts slowly goes in the center of the attractor and then the attractor pulls it all in the middle very fast the cloth stays in the middle of the attractor with crazy movements. Please help

    • @lukasthorup
      @lukasthorup  Před 3 lety

    • @gfxtutstips4514
      @gfxtutstips4514 Před 3 lety

      Yes I did and I kept the values of each and every parameter exactly the same as you did. Now I am trying to control it with Attractor force, in start it's value is high and after 20-30 frames I am bringing it down.

    So this may be a dumb question. But every time I try to connect these elements into one object (I just want to create static cloth objects from the simulation) I'm unable to move it. Is there a better way to consolidate all of the elements into something like a static object?
