Would be nice to have an app that you can select all this stuff and when you want to Switch to saving battery mode you can just click it and it changes all the settings for you.

You should be able to find the new assist pad in the online presets. check in the bottom right corner of the settings panel in the STUDIO app. says "online presets", the default preset should have this one (and most of the others) you can then use the copy assist pad function and paste function under the stylus button commands, hover over the icons to see the functions. It's just to the right of the "undo" icon under the "TOUCH MODE TYPES" text.

In the bios there is an option to control how many E cores are active. Disabling E cores and bring it back to a 6-core with just the faster P cores seems to give a lot of battery back, but it not something you'll easily do 'on the fly'.
Maybe with throttlestop you can disable / park cores. Just setting the power limit to 15watt or less there is then also a good idea :). Don't forget to set windows to _always_ enable 'battery saver' when you go on battery. Not just below 20% or something, but there is an 'always' option. Battery-save mode prevents things like search-indexing and windows-update checks or other maintenance tasks.
Armory Crate always says you can't set the GPU to 'eco' mode when using an external screen. You can, just don't open Armory Crate. Set it in eco mode with no screens connected, then close Armory Crate and connect your external display to the top thunderbolt port (that's the one connected to your Intel iGPU, the bottom one is connected to your nvidia dGPU).
You'll see that you still don't have 'nvidia control panel' available when right clicking on the desktop. And if you try to start it through the start-menu or something, it'll complain "there are no nvidia GPUs in the system". So the Nvidia gpu is really disabled :).
I also notice that if I have the battery-charge limit set to 80% in MyAsus.. that last 20% seems to be more than 20% or something :). I can get 6+ hours when 100%, but only 3 hours when at 80%. So charging it fully helps a lot.
Disable E cores, nvidia GPU completely off, silent mode, battery-saver enabled in Windows, lower screen brightness (disable night-light if it's on). Screen backlight can go really low while still being very visible. And don't do intensive tasks 😉

any modern powerbank example from Anker that can USB-C output of 65W and above up to 100W
can sustain the laptop for a while..
Please ensure that your USB-C cable are capable of supporting the high W. not all cables are made the same....

There are many battery packs that have actual 120v outlets. I got mine (called a Chargetech plug) for about $279. I know that's a lot, but I now have all the power I need, for anything I need, no matter where I choose to sit at the coffee shop. It often allows me to sit in the corner that doesn't have electric outlets, where most people don't want to sit. So, I get more peace and quiet.

How long does the battery last with the graphics card disabled?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  Před 8 měsíci

They say disabling the graphics card uses more power not less. But using it in windows mode and drawing for the last 30 minutes it went from 100% to 63%. I’m sure web browsing is less. But honestly I wouldn’t plan on using this thing for more than a few hours without a charging option. If you want it for a few reasons get a cheap 65w portable battery and a cable

Thank you for the reply. I am looking at the 2022 model with the 12900H and 3050Ti to replace my 8250U Yoga with a bad battery, keeping me close to a power supply anyway, so I am used to that limitation. My use case is for light document work, web browsing and note taking. As I don't have a desktop, I like the idea that I could do some pretty serious (at least for me) video editing on this device when needed.
I found a review where they managed to get 6 to 7 hours of CZcams on this model with setting it correctly.
Do you think I could eek our 4 to 5 hours with my light load? If so, at $999 current price, I can't think of a better alternative that will give me that kind of power on the few occasions that I might need it.

slow small tablet vs bigger extreme-performance laptop. I guess two complete different devices for complete different use cases.
Better would be to compare the Z13 2023 model against the latest Surface (not Surface Pro), the tablet with a 4060 in it.
But the answer will always be: Trade in battery vs more performance.
