    Very nice spot Joe. Last year @ that time in central MN we had 70" of snow. Ended up with 90". Went from winter to summer in 4 days of 90* weather. So I never got any post scouting in. But I just got my new 2.0 Halfline cuz I have work to do for 2 yrs. I really like the simplicity of it. Especially if u end up on the wrong side of the 🌳. I really like the 9mm CRV with the CT & Vergo. Now I can climb up into a spot & clip into the 🌳 with my Linesman. Then I will reposition my paracord so it's girth hitched over the union of the tree & the whole stem of the 🌳. I did this early January on a 30* day. I put a camera up then just 2 feet below my union. Too much friction for MRS but perfect for SRT. Then when I get down I'm setup for a stealthy climb early in the season. Thanks to both u & Scott. My 9.5 Super Static worked pretty well but I need it for some spring arborist work. So I will be able to have 3 climbing lines up now to become more efficient. 😮😅 Without ruining the integrity of this new system. ❤

    Still the coolest method to climb a tree!

    Joe, great video. You make me want to head straight for the woods. I got the foot loop but not as good as you are. I am still using the quick roll with standard hand ascender for my other hand using a hip thrust. I will try to practice more with the foot loop. Keep the videos coming. There is something no one is talking about. That is, if you go in the woods hoping to find a tree to climb and don’t find one, the wearing a saddle is the best way to hunt on the ground. You can hide behind a tree & have a good shooting rest for the shot. This season that is how I started because I did not have a rope. Keep it up guys.

      I have a friend that uses is saddle when turkey hunting on the ground

    How about some videos of you guys actually hanging a platform while SRT climbing. That is the most difficult part especially, on a big tree.

    The biggest issue I run into using a throw ball and line is all the brush on the ground snagging my line, or trying to throw the line underhand when there are briars in the way.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      Yes in tall Brian's that's a problem

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem +1

      Keep practicing, Eventually you’ll hit it 1st try. If your using a line cube it will keep your line from snagging on brush. If you miss. Flake it back into line cube before throwing it again.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      There are some trees that are just impossible to throw into . All they’ll do is frustrate you. Concentrate on the ones you can hit that’ll put you with shot distance. Like throwing horse shoes at first you suck then you get the hang of it !

      @@NYSaddleHunter I have a cube. It helps. But if briars are up to even my shins, the throw ball catches up in them when I rock it back and forth to make the throw.
      I was an early adapter to all the stuff you guy have taught, so I'm not a rookie, but I'm no expert. I'm pretty accurate with the throw ball as long as I'm not standing in a bunch of small saplings or other ground vegetation. Nice thing about presetting this time of year, it's easier to untangle your line when there are no leaves.

      I've had my closest encounters in areas I like to hunt post snow in late February & March. People walk dogs in some areas a long distance from me & end up very close to me. 2 years ago I had 7 within 30 feet of me for 5 minutes. I'm decked out in camo so they they never noticed me. After they caught their breath they moved on. Year before that in mid-May I came back to fix a tough spot. B4 I could climb 2 bucks, one young & one old stopped within 50 feet. In the direction they came running out of. There was a pregnant doe blowing @ them cuz she had a private spot to give birth. These bucks can't afford a fight when they r starting to grow. Especially the larger one which was @ least 4, probably older. It's a great time to read sign & I try to finish b4 turkey season in April. But I always have one spot that needs a little bit of attention after turkey closes. Take care & have fun.

    Are you using 75’ of rope for a canopy hitch with a midline alpine butterfly?

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem +1

      In this video I'm base tied but I cleaned up all the sucker limbs so when I return to hunt I'll use a midline alpine butterfly or maybe DRT

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem +1

      No you can base tie or do what's called a canopy hitch which is done with a midline alpine butterfly . I usually use the canopy hitch when hunting and base tie when scouting
