  • In this video, I separate the clutch from the brakes by using the mower deck lever to turn it into a hand brake! Plus I also rig up the original transaxle brakes as well! And they both work pretty good!

    The brake method will also work if your mower is original and still lifted by hooking up the rod directly to the brakes! Pretty much the same concept!

    I feel the frustration man, yesterday I was trying to get rid of two bolts rubbing my belt. It took me collectively three hours to get them off. I had to reach under the engine from the top and put vice grips on them. Then crawl under to impact them out. It works good now though

    I’m building a mower atm and I thought about getting a drum brake kit but I just bought a crappy broken moped for 50$ and robed the hydraulic disk off of it… I plan on going faster than a mower should so ima need the extra stopping power.. and I had the same idea with a hand break a wile back but never did it I was going to do a “drift” style mower lol… keep up the awesome videos 👍

    Okoffroadmowers did the brakes on the deck lift he's got some of the best mowers ive seen on utoob... It works okay but my favorite is gas and brake pedal on the right and clutch on left.. it feels natural but you want as much force on that tiny band brake as possible tho.. I think the spring in that linkage is gonna screw it all up.. why can't u run a straight link from the deck lever to the brake?

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před 2 lety +1

      Idk, it'll be a lot of cutting and welding. It's pretty fine this way I think and stops pretty ok! I'll check out Okoffroadmowers video!

    did you weld the axels in the transmission if not your only using the break on one wheel. i think?

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Nah the diff is still open and yes it is only braking that wheel, the brake isn't gonna skid the tire or make it handle funny but it will slow it down. It works fine for this but later on it may be changed but idk yet.

    Did you just do a pulley swap to make it go that fast ?

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před rokem +1

      In theory it is a double pulley swap lol. I put a 1:1 ratio from the engine to the jackshaft and a 2.5:1 or so ratio from the jackshaft to the transaxle. So yeah it is extremely pulley swapped lmao!

  • @justusgiraldo3419
    @justusgiraldo3419 Před 11 měsíci +1

    Is there a way to do the pulley swap without welding?

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Unless you get some the bolt right onto the shaft and not weld a hub to a pulley.

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před rokem +1

      Just find the switch, take it apart, use a volt meter to find 12V when power is on and off, usually just look for the 2 white wires(ignore the black)"4 wires total" and just put a jumper connecting the 2 wires.

    I have a band brake setup on my transaxle also, but so far it really sucks, it will grab the tire good when testing it up in the air, but when moving it feels like it does nothing. I basically redid the whole system so it will engage much better, but before I go any further, is it even possible to get them to grab any better than the way you have it?

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Před 2 lety +1

      Idk fully! Unless I somehow mount them on the jackshaft for squeeze some small hydraulic disc in there but that is almost impossible. Also think about it, it is a drum brake designed for a small little go-kart under 30 mph with a simple drivetrain. Not a big huge heavy lawn mower going a lot faster with a more complex drivetrain and trying to slow it down lol.
