- In this tutorial, find out how to take a screenshot on your PC and learn how to find the screenshot. Learn about the Snipping Tool and how to use the print screen keyboard shortcuts.
I walk through how to launch the snipping tool and how to use the tool. I also walk through a few different keyboard shortcuts to take a screenshot. Take full screen snips, window snips, rectangular snips, or free form snips. No download required! Take screenshots of your desktop, browser, games, or other apps.

- For the Snipping Tool, you can choose where to save the screenshot.
- Windows + Print screen saves screenshots to C:\Users\(YourName)\Pictures\Screenshots
- Print Screen saves screenshots to C:\OneDrive\Pictures\Screenshots (as long as you have oneDrive sync enabled. Otherwise your screenshot is available via the clipboard and you need to paste into Paint and then save the file)

Windows clipboard and the screen snip tool are a perfect example of how out of touch Microsoft is. How do you tell items apart with the stupid little image from the clipboard without opening another program and pasting them one by one, looking for the correct image? This is what happens when you throw an army of programmers at, what should be an intuitive and simple task. The screen snip tool should have option to save to screenshots folder instead of lame, dinky image, clipboard. Then I can use details pane (with larger image) to review and delete unwanted instead of opening a paint program or whatever! After 35 years of using Microsoft products, I can assure you, they still don't get it! Amazing!

I fell asleep halfway through woke up for the end and then just figured out on my own. Here’s the word of the day, Succinct.
Finally I now know how to take a snapshots in different ways !! initially I couldn't hung up on one!! I tried all the other ways you told and I must say they do work effectively. I tried all the other tutorials but haven't found any one which is as good as this one !! thanks a lot !
I learned more about how to open the snipping tool than I did about taking screenshots

@@exoticcarrots1772 and i have Prt Scr that works, except the shortcut doesn’t. Windows 8 was much better. At least there the shortcuts worked and was easy to assign.

I have a gaming keyboard and I googled how to take a Screenshot. And it was using keys I didn't even have lol. So now I'm here and thank you so much I didn't even know snipping tool was on my computer. I kind of feel dumb for not knowing what's on my own computer. I've been using the Keyboard Print Screen button since Windows 7, and taking the images into other apps for editing. It has worked well for me; however, you have shown me something that will shorten the amount of work I do after the screen shot has been taken. Thanks a Million!

Hi Kevin. I recently changed from a MacBook to a Windows 10 PC and your videos are being very helpful. I'm taking rectangular screen shots, but I have to save each capture I take manually and it takes a lot of time since I have to take a lot of them. Is there a way to automatically save these rectangular captures in a specific file?

What a legend taking a screenshot of a emberrassing pose
Came here for a quick tutorial on how to take a screenshot but there was so much information/so many words in the first couple minutes it was hard to follow. It might work to put all the "options" at the end, not in the beginning. I don't have intuitive IT skills so when so much information comes across so fast it's almost useless and then has to be watched several times to get the jist of it. I did pick up the reminder about using a Snipping Tool, so that was helpful. Thanks

I still had trouble with the Print Screen option and I found this info that you have to go into Settings to enable it:
Why is my Print Screen not working on Windows 10?
Check your settings: Go to your Windows 10 settings and make sure the "Screenshots" option is turned on. To do this, go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > Use the PrtScn button to open screen snipping
Furthermore even after that, for me when using the Fn + PrintScreen button, it didn't save it automatically to a folder. It copies it to the clipboard and then you have to paste it in a photo editing software like Paint. So overall I just use the Snipping Tool now. They've made the PrintScreen option too laborious.
