- Part two on parting out my rusty 66 LTD into my new, less rusty 65 Custom 500. Part 1 - • 1965 Ford Custom. Will...
My 66 got this 5.3 LS when I realized the ol' FE was burning a hole in my pocket with how much I spent on gas daily driving it. Now, it's getting passed on to my 65 (instead of its 289 and 3 speed transmission). The engine is from an '02 Avalanche that read ~300k on the odometer, it's paired with a junkyard AR5 5 speed out of a Chevy Colorado. This was the cheapest way for me to get decent power and fuel economy and amazing drivability. I'm astonished by how well this swap has held up, it even paid for itself within the year on gas savings. It's no Ford, but for now, this Chevy engine will do. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This channel feels like primitive technology(the youtube channel) meets the roadkill show. Cant wait for more
Oooh, i see u r a man of culture as well
Excellent, enjoyed again. Graffiti Town was apocalyptic and wonderful with the V8 soundtrack. Wonderful.
This great sound remembers me to the Mustang in Bullit. V8 and shifting gears, perfect!
I really like your vídeos, i learn a lot from them , and the best part is that they don't have those boring song and conversations.
Unbelievable mechanical talent. That little drive reminded me of the twin cities, more like St. Paul.
Setting that harness on fire was so freakin' AWESOME! 😂😂😂... Don't know why I thought it was so funny. Good work on the swap though.👍🏿
I was feeling a bit disappointed that you did a boring LS swap but then I read your description above and I understand the reasons now. The new 2 door is a fabulous thing. We only got the 4 door sedans in Australia, nothing as exotic as the 2 door. Really enjoying binging your videos. 😊
Thanks for taking the time to read the description and understand my reasoning. One day I’d love to ditch the LS setup
Respect is Due.😎
That fire was expected.... :D i was watching and was shocked when you light it after spraying the flammable cleaner :D
Mmmmmm yes....Cathedral ports....
Old time hot rodding in the year 2024:)
audacious, creative and smart... i like it. you do good work.
The one-man hood removal technique! Approved.
That 289 engine would look real nice in your Falcon.
Like your style, subbed👌
Sounds great, I presume it's a worthwhile conversion?
keep a fire extinguisher handy you never know
Simon, I think you may need a shop in the country? So good. Excellent videos
Great job Simon (not the Fire lol) the Engine sounds good 👍
That was epic. 😂
Beautiful work! Would love to get a small v-8 into my 92 Toyota Shortbed pickup when the 22RE finally dies cuz I don't want to give up this outrageously simple vehicle for the junk they're forcing on us today. I can offer room, board and all meals while you're doing the job lol.
GOOD JOB
Exceptional
Ford tough with Chevy stuff 👍
10:51 don't worry be happy!
Simon, safety boots?😮
🤣🚒🔥 Seus videos são otimos! seus carros melhor ainda! parabéns!
Great video, made the swap look easy. What exhaust manifolds are you using? Did you have clearance issues with the steering box? I'm thinking of doing this to my 65 as well.
I used these cheap ones off Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KSKGKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It looks like they're unavailable, but if you look up headers for an LS swap into a chevy S10, you should find some. They fit perfect, no steering box issues. Let me know if you have anymore questions on the swap, I'm happy to help.
Eargasm!
I understand the LS swap, I am no hater. But it does feel better to have a ford in a ford, Chevy in a Chevy.
I would have considered a 302 out of a late 90s exploder/mountaineer. They have the better flowing GT40 heads, efi, and can be found dirt cheap from salvage yards or as a complete donor. And you get a 8.8” rear with disc brakes and optional LSD.
what are those seats out of?
Greetings. Why did you take the engine from the 4d4? That car looked in better shape than the 2dr. Thanks
The roof on the 4dr was rusted out due to it being a vinyl top car, it also had lots more rust overall.
Hi Simon, question: Is the Southdale Mall closed yet in Edina? Thanks for your videos. Out.
They're still bustling
@@SimonFordman What I thought, but thanks for confirming. Out.
Nice swap, and bitchin' car.
I like your videos so much
But why are you doing the swap? The donor car looks in much better shape than yours
The ONLY thing I DONT like about this video is,,, you got your Monkees shirt dirty !! That should be reserved for car shows and such 😁👍🇺🇸
Looks like an ex police car in its making the efi should be sufficient for the weight of this project 2 doors hard to find
🤗❤️👍💯
If you ever end up with another FE, you might consider the "Carb Cheater" that Thunderhead289 created. For fun, he put a lawnmower carb on a Ford 302 and it ended up with amazing gas mileage (although the lawnmower carb robbed a ton of horsepower):
czcams.com/video/FwhMz2kR4pw/video.html
He has tried this on many different carbs and it seems to have a positive effect on mileage and performance.
Yea, I saw that video a while back. It really boggles my mind. I'd have to try it for myself to believe it. Definitely would be interesting to do.
@@SimonFordman Kind of makes me wish I was still driving something with a carb. I honestly think EFI is the default, not because it's necessarily better but because it was easier for the car companies to meet emission control requirements and mileage targets. Carbs work well, but only when they're adjusted properly. EFI works great until it doesn't. Then you're hooped.
yuk on the ls motor
He found a LS swapped w/manual 4dr post donor-driver for a parts car my man. What would you rather run? That clapped out 289 w/a leaky, slipping auto? C'mon man, it's a driver not some rare trailer, Queen.
@@Pedroisanickname i'm a ford guy..so LSstuff means nothing to me
I don't like breeding them. But it's not mine. The 289 would have made it worth more but again not mine. The car was a stick before junky Ls swap not mine again. He does a pretty good job I've liked most of his posts this one was ook.
What a waste of classic Ford machinery ! 😆
