      Okay so she said she has 38 years in aviation but most of it as a flight attendant. But here is what I like. I think she paid attention very well in those 38 years. Her communication is so precise, so concise. So clear and to the point but yet so simple and well understood. She says it slowly without any attitude without any arrogance. Not too slowly she says exactly what she has to say right when she has to say it. It's awesome to see how calm she is. Instead of coming in with this attitude of "in my 38 years I know everything about flying" and this and that like she's so confident so aware of the situation. It's inspiring to see this positive attitude where someone can learn so quickly and obviously you would if you'd been in that industry for that long. Even without your hands on the controls I imagine 38 years around pilots flying aviating navigating communicating preparing for emergencies understanding the air space understanding the controls understanding the engine understanding the limitations and the weather and all that stuff. But at the same time it's like she simplifies everything so well like a kid could watch this video and think that he/she could a helicopter. The positive attitude incredible I really think that positive attitude you can learn anything if you keep your mind open and you stay calm and clear was very good communication. Very inspiring. I love to see this kind of stuff. Many good things in your future

    Love this video. I am only familiar with the R44 because I have a client that I am searching for one to purchase before the end of the year. We got close with 2 different ones that I found but one could not be sold after all and one just went under contract today. After seeing this video, now I want to learn to fly one! If anyone may know of anyone that has a 2015 or newer with low hours to sell, I would be so grateful if you could let me know.
    What a very gracious lady. I have wanted to get my private pilot's license for planes but now, I am rethinking that.

    Kathy I flew for American for 17 years based at DCA with a short stint at DFW as a 727 CA, before AA I was an Army helicopter pilot and instructor in Huey’s. After AA I flew 3 years as a medivac pilot in a Bell 206L4. I have 3500 hours of RW flying. I would recommend that going cross country at 1200 agl just to give you some more choices if you have to autorotate. Never get complacent those helicopters can get out of hand quickly and all ways assume that all roads have wires. You and your partners should consider getting wire cutters installed on your Robinson they’ve saved the lives of quite a few people including several of my Army buddies an medivac friends. And never fly on marginal weather days or at night in any weather. . Wearing a helmet can help you survive a crash an nomex suit. I know that’s a lot but like they say a helicopter in made of thousands of parts that want to be somewhere else. Take care and enjoy those grandkids.

    I flew on a lot of Black hawks in the military, as a combat guy, not a pilot, but took a fascination to helicopters. After the military, took fixed wing flight lessons, but a few years later my Wife surprised me with first 5 hours with a helicopter flight school as a Christmas gift. Only because of me joking around, every time she asked what I wanted for Christmas, I responded with "a helicopter". Of course, she couldn't get me a helicopter but she gave me a reason to take the time to get started. Started training in a R22, then stepped up to a R44. It's awesome, but not a cheap hobby!

    I am a Cessna 172 pilot. I looked into transitioning to a Rotorcraft. The CFI I met with told me to not think that just because I was a fixed wing pilot, that Rotorcraft would be easy. He said, "it's like trying to stay balanced on a greased beach ball"!

    • @mountainflyhigh
      @mountainflyhigh Před rokem +2

      I was a 20,000 hour fixed wing pilot when I took heli lessons. Fixed-wing knowledge is actually a detriment. As I struggled more than I thought I should be, I read in a training manual why. A fixed-wing aircraft is inherently STABLE. A rotor-wing is inherently UN-stable. While hovering, you can't even take your hand off the stick long enough to switch radio frequencies.

    • @FlyMIfYouGotM
      @FlyMIfYouGotM Před rokem

      Don't know about full size helicopters, but RC helicopters are a hand full compared to fixed wing. The best way to get a bit of a feel for what it involves is to start with a 1' square piece of plate glass. Hold the plate of glass parallel to the ground and put a smooth glass marble in the center of the glass pane. Go outside in a 10 or 20mph wind and try to keep the marble balanced in the middle of the plate glass! Good luck.

I'm not a pilot, but I've always had an interest in aviation, taking my first helicopter ride in a small Hughes 269A at age 13, from a parking lot near my home in 1965: I think it was $5 for 10 minutes, so I raced home on my bicycle to empty my piggy bank, then raced back. Thanks for this flight! (this video popped up after viewing a Micah Muzio helicopter trip up the CA coast).

    Kathy's comment about seeing things in backyards that weren't intended to be seen reminded me of an experience 30+ years ago. I was working as a telecom field engineer and one of my customers had a couple of helicopters to support their field operations and travel between two facilities 65 miles apart. The company CFO I interacted with ran the numbers and decided it was cheaper to fly me by helicopter between facilities than to pay travel time by car so every time I visited I had a helicopter ride. The flight was VFR and navigation was by following an Interstate so the pilots got bored and started flying a few miles either side of the prescribed route. While flying "off route" and following the shore of a nearby lake, a company pilot discovered a nude beach. Needless to say, that became the regular route of choice. By the time I was riding along, the beach goers were so used to the flyover they would look up and wave!
    Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! 🚁❤️😷

    I wonder how you get the helo in the hangar with no wheels on the skids? Nice bird and nice pilot. Great video.

    I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve flown a Robinson 44 for years now and it is a superb helicopter.
