Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa is strangely perfect.

@@WhatisReal11I didn’t even notice that was Hugh Grant playing as Oompa Loompa
Only to Helen Keller.
the CG was awful. I really expected a little better work, but hopefully they fix it.
Oompa loompas were actually originally African pygmies that Wonka took for the factory...so I think it doesn't really matter how their smallness is portrayed lol
I was actually referring to the idea of them NOT being played by dwarves. Then again, we only see Hugh Grant so who knows.
In the original drafts of the first book, the only white people were the four bratty children and their parents - and as far as I know, the oompa-loompas' choice to come work for Wonka was always voluntary, albeit primarily made to escape rough conditions in their homeland. But yes, I'll be curious to see how the movie handles the book's less-than-stellar portrayal of tribal cultures.
@@hidoradaikaiju4205 he did say "it's a normal size" so is he lying to not feel bad in a funny way and others are taller? My theory
@@drakemelee4135 That’s the vibe I got, too. Lol. Either way, I’m loving Hugh Grant in these kinds of roles. Between this and D&D, he seems to be having a lot of fun.

Gene Wilder will always be my Wonka, but I'm interested to see what this movie has in store.
I believe this a prequel to the Wilder movie. The Oompa Loompa design is closer to the 71’ version & so is Wonka’s costume.
The book & the 2005 movie also explicitly state that Wonka meets the Oompa Loompas in the jungle. The 71’ film doesn’t state how Wonka meets them.
We know and we don’t care.
@@InuYasha2276 you clearly do if you had to comment that
Depp is amazing as well. He gave more back story and just gave such an amazing vibe. Gene of course is the goat.

The fact that the film is written by King and Farnaby, writers of Paddington 2 and directed by King is a hopeful sign.
Also Sally Hawkins ( Mrs Brown from the Paddington films) is in it ( apparently playing Wonka's mother)
😊😊😊

I dont know how many of you have actually seen the original Willy Wonka but that would be a great movie reaction.
When it comes to Wonka, the more unhinged the better, hence why Gene is the best
The books are also good. Not as good as merry poppins, but pretty good.
@@laurenc0261I’m almost certain Johnny Depp is the most unhinged Wonka
As a big fan of Horrible Histories, BBC Ghosts and Yonderland was quite happily suprised when Matthew Baynton appeared.
I appreciate this comment! Loved him in Horrible Histories & The Wrong Mans.
And Deano
I look forward to the day that Blind Wave responds to his appearance on screen with the same joy they currently reserve for others. He's a delight. (Also, assuming their plans for a new website go ahead, maybe we can get Ghosts on the poll sometime.)
Shame we didn't have more of the 6 idiots in the cast, but I am fine with Matt in it.
Who's Matthew baynton?
I grew up with Johnny Depp's Wonka so that is my Wonka, but I'm really happy that they're kinda fusing the two versions of Wonka with this, making it accessible for people who grew up with or prefer either of them. This seems like a genuine fun and magical experience and I can't wait to see it!^^
The actor playing wonka has insane charisma
I wanna watch it just cause of him and ive never seen him before
really? He is actually pretty famous already. Main Charakter of Dune
he is a really good actor
He's insanely famous 😭
@@kadegetslaid634 idk about insanely lol. Alot of people over 40 have no clue who this dude is, unless they've seen Dune. I never heard of this guy until I saw The King and forgot about him until Dune hit.
@JoshuaDay0550 OK true, some people in different circles of media, thanks for telling me I appreciate it
Fun fact: although the Burton/Depp take on the Wonka character was........ _different_ the film DID use the songs from the book
(as opposed to the 'Doopity Doo', 'Wuuurrld of pure imagination' and 'I want it now!' showtunes of the 70s film).
Burton only had the book rights.
I think this crew only has the rights to Gene Wilder movie.
@@Carabas72his is forming into an interesting adaptational quirk
@@Carabas72 You say Burton only had them like he wanted more. He was just making a new adaptation. He didn't need to make it like the 70s film
@@joevictor53
No, I said Burton only had the book rights like he only had the book rights. As an explanation for the OP's remark that Burton's version was very different. Anything else is you reading things into it that aren't there.
This one seemingly combines the 1971 movie elements with the 2005 setting
Bro I never expected I needed Hugh Grant as an oompa loompa 😂
I am honestly so happy that this film will give Mathew Baynton the audience he deserves!! Every British person my age essentially has grown up with him (and the rest of the HH/ghosts gang) and he has such a place in my heart ♥️ and the fact Simon wrote it too, really looking forward to this film
We could've done with more of the 6 idiots being cast in this
Both Wonka’s movie has special place in my heart. This one will be too.
I instantly knew "the mom song" lmao it was Charlie's mom singing, "good luck, Charlie."
Thpought it was cheer up Charlie
Either way I would always press fast forward at that point.
This is something I genuinely am interested in, especially because I know when this movie comes out we're gonna be getting some special Wonka Branded Chcolate or candies when this comes out, just imagine it, the return of the Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar maybe some new types of Wonka chocolate from the movie who the heck knows
The 2005 Tim Burton movie is actually great and much closer to Dahl's book. It's not necessarily better or worse compared to the Gene Wilder movie. It's just a different take. And it's a classic to a lot of people who grew up watching it like me. In fact, you could react to it before Wonka comes out.
Hmm, the "oddness" is closer to the dark tint that Dahl put in his stories but the portrayal of Wonka was not like the books at all.
I agree that the world I imagined as a kid reading the book felt more reflected in the Burton film, which was a bit darker, but that's just my opinion.
His widow said he would of enjoyed the Burton version more, he wasn’t big on the original.
i totally agree!! this is the third wonka trailer reaction ive watched so far and its such a surprise to me that so many people (the reactors and commenters) have such dislike for it. i grew up on dahl's books and never watched the gene version. naturally, the burton version was quite satisfying as it was pretty close to the book. i get that wonka in it is a bit too strange at times but i feel he was always eccentric. which timothee dsnt seem so here and im having a hard time relating him to the book wonka that i knw and love. the oompa loompa is great here tho, the burton one was kinda hit or miss.
It’s definitely worse then wilders.
The original movie was one of my all time favorites and the remake with Johnny Depp was pretty good too. This looks like it'll be somewhere in between those two in terms of quality, and I can't wait for it.
Agreed
Might as well put this out there, Depp’s movie is not a remake, just another adaptation of the same book, separate to the first movie
6:00 the Mom's song was "Cheer up Charlie" and reason nobody remembers it is cause it's normally the part kids Fast Fwd through... cause it's INCREDIBLY out of place with the tone of the rest of the movie!!!
not really out of place at all when you look at the themes of the movie
Honestly this movie looks like it will be kinda wholesome
as wholesome as a film based on the work of an antisemite can be I guess
I love both Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So I can’t wait to see this!
You have my utmost respect
I've had this fan-fiction in my head for years (I should just write it already) about an adult psych horror sequel to Willy Wonka where grown-up Augustus, Veruca, Mike, and Violet are in an asylum suffering hallucinations, body dysmorphia, and various traumas related to the events that happened in the first film. One day a mysterious Dr. Bucket appears to "correct the mistakes made by his predecessor". It would be very much like a Wonka themed "It Chapter 2" where its never quite clear what is and isn't real, and all 4 main characters are deeply unreliable and confronting their childhood demons head on. I was going to call the story "Dark Chocolate".
I'd read it. 🙂 Go for it!
To me this looks so whimsical and charming, kind of a love letter to the original
This is so happy and uplifting. It makes me wonder how it all went so horribly wrong he ends up alone and crazy for years in the factory before sending out the five golden tickets.
2003. The oldman mcconaughey joint was done 2003 , tip toes.
How can anyone say with a straight face, that the original Willy Wonka movie "didn't feel like a musical"?! There's 15 freaking songs that take up almost 40 minutes of the runtime.
thats our Aaron
I remember reading a book when Wonka took his guests on a space elevator ride, magic schoolbus style.
This feels like the perfect sweet family film for Christmas. I'm excited!
WHY DOES THE OOMPA LOOMPA PART LOOK SO FAMILY GUY ISH 🤣I love it !!
I personally loved the Tim Burton Charlie and the Cholate Factory, not without its flaws, and I'm probably partial having grown up during its era, but I do think overall its a very interesting take on those characters. Very different from the original, but I think that's a good thing.
The Tim Burton film, as far as I can tell, was a LOT more faithful to the source material than the Gene Wilder film. That being said, the Gene Wilder film was iconic and amazing; no wonder they brought back that aesthetic for this.
Mom had the song 'Cheer up Charlie'
Some of the outdoor scenes are filmed in my home city of Oxford!!!!!
I very much came away from this with a desire to rewatch Muppet Treasure Island 😆
I think I stand by my initial "...but WHY" reaction to a Wonka prequel movie, but this does look very charming. It'll probably be a good Christmas movie!
Christmas maybe. Not so much Hanukkah given what a bigot Roald Dahl was to the Jewish people.
It’s really cool how you guys invited Nick, Ricks twin brother to do the reactions with you guys. Surprisingly, I’m getting a really cool vibe from Nick.
The mom's song is Cheer Up Charlie. The worst LOL
Favourite CZcams Reacting group!
Looks so fun!
Eric’s “bored now” cracked me up
6:00 cheer up Charlie? I need to rewatch it, but I think that's what it is
Sally Hawkins is going to make us cry again.
Since Oompa Loompa's are completely fictional, I don't see how anyone could complain that it should only be played by "Little People". I mean would someone argue that Tinkerbell should be played by a dwarf or a physically natural little person. This is a fantasy character.
The original Gene Wilder Willy Wonka film is one of my favorite movies ever but this looks like a sweet, charming, feel good family film as well and we need more of those so I’m excited to watch this!!
Can we have new family films not based on the work of an unashamed antisemite?
"In an interview with the New Statesman in 1983, he said: “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere. Even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.”"
"I mean, if you and I were in a line moving towards what we knew were gas chambers, I’d rather have a go at taking one of the guards with me; but they [the Jews] were always submissive.”"
OMG TIP TOES!!!!!!! you can actually see him walking around on his knees in some scenes.
Hey there's also a new Godzilla Minous One teaser thats been released!
Mom Song in the original movie was "Cheer up, Charlie" but that probably was already said
Charlie's mum's song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is "Cheer Up Charlie".
The mom song was the one, when she's doing the laundry and Charlie stops by being sad and stuff...uhh "Cheer Up Charlie" I think was the name.
The Kwisach Haderach is also Wonka.
Fun.
Honestly still in enjoyable shock that two of the Six Idiots (Horrible Histories) is in this! If any of you gets the chance, definitely check it out
Ever since i saw Chalamet in The King, he has totally impressed me with his acting ability.
Very underrated film. One of the best OSTs of the last decade imo
The song that the mother sang in the original Willy Wonka was something like Good luck Charlie or don't give up. Something along those lines, I can picture the scene of her singing it. But I believe it was more don't give up Charlie
im hyped for it, looks really pretty
🎶cheer up charlieeee......🎶
It’s clear that there needs to b a, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” movie reaction, sooner rather than later. 🤣👏
This looks charming, but I'm a little unsure about it based on just this trailer. Also, you didn't react to the newest Dune 2 trailer with Timothee. It's a really impressive trailer.
They likely won’t in order to avoid spoilers because they saw the first trailer and have already decided to react to the movie when it comes out.
As a huge fan of the original movie and the books, I legit teared up at this trailer. Pitch-perfect. As if they bottled the magic of Paddington and then poured it into a chocolate bar. Cannot wait for this movie.
7:18 I worked at a movie theater when the Depp movie came out and we had Wanka bars available. I don't think I've seen them any other time.
They were good. They were chocolate and graham crackers if I'm remembering right.
I dont care what anyone says, Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa is amazing casting.
If only Hugh Grant were capable of playing characters instead of just himself in every single role
Rick looking like vayne from league of legends in this one
This was a surprise
I think you’ll find the movie’s actually called Jonka.
(Shout out to those who understand this reference)
Aaron wants to try a snozzberry, eh? hehe it would be a HARD pill for him to SWALLOW when he finds out.
What I saw this trailer I went oh my God they're making another Wonka movie already and then I remembered that the last one came out in 2005 and I feel like I am entirely too old now
The "Mom Song" was "Cheer Up Charlie"
I was waiting only coz Timmy 😘😘😘
Didnt expect to see Nardole from doctor who lol
Was that Mr. Mosby from Sweet Life of Zack and Cody????!!!
After seeing the trailer I have but one question: Why didn't they cast Hugh Grant as Willy Wonka? He would have been AMAZING!
Well, it *is* about Wonka's life before his factory. So Grant would be out by nature. Besides, Timothy needs more exposure.
@@TikiDragon1 More exposure? For what??
An Oompa Loompa is not a little person, they are a green fictional non-human character and therefor can be played by Hugh Grant. 😁💖
And she’s the queen 😂
Now I need a Wonka bar 🍫
im so onboard with this movie!
How have they still not reacted to Ahsoka trailer 2??
🤯🤯🤯🤯
Right off the bat, a boat amongst mist.
After Timothy Chalamet playing the super serious Paul Atreides in Dune, now he plays the complete opposite, a silly and eccentric Willy Wonka, and he looked great in this trailer. I don't know much at all about Chalamet's resume, but now I'm really interested.
The Johnny Depp version is closer to the book.
As this is written and directed by the people who made the first 2 Paddington movies (they are amazing) I'm hopeful this movie will be good.
i think that the original willy wonka & the chocolate factory was one which a lot of people grew up seeing as kids - and so they have these expectations now of what any wonka-related film should be. the original is a classic, fun, musical and was also intended as a kids movie. charlie and the chocolate factory (johnny depp) was strangely dark and didnt live up to the hype of a remake. i think this film with chalamet as the lead is aimed moreso at children and will no doubt be a hit with them. it's intended to be a prequel about how the young willy wonka became the chocolatier that he is.
if you take it from that perspective, obviously "willy wonka" is going to be very different - because by the time the original wonka was set .. he'd been a chocolatier and his factory had been closed to the public for decades.. and he'd become a recluse.
i think this film serves as an innocent look at how he got into the chocolate business and will be a hit with children, but probably not lovers of the original film. nevertheless, chalamet is a great actor; so i'm interested to see what he does. as you said as well, the director of paddington is directing it - and paddington was excellent (also with children as the target audience).
I gave the Tim Burton one a chance, so I'll give this one a chance too. It looks silly enough to be fun. No idea how it'll review, though.
I can't be the only one who liked the 1st musical AND the Charlie sequel with Johnny Depp😅. I'm optimistic about this one tho
are you gonna do the silo series reaction? it's so awesome...
Mr. Bean is in this one! 😂😂😂
Is there a reason we need a third movie about this?
We don't need it. Roald Dahl has other bangers which haven't made the big screen like The Twits & George's Marvellous Medicine.
It can be a good time capsule, you can see our ignorance.
that cough me fully off guard
Rick the bounty hunter
I love the Johnny depp one
There’s a pole? 👀
Is there a reason they haven’t done an reaction to the new Ashoka trailer drop?
Will there be a movie reaction?
Guys you really need to watch Paddington, both movies are great.
Johnson!
This Willy Wonka seems to be a mix of Depps performance and Wilder' performance. I can actually see Wilder' crazy (not the word I'm looking for) Wonka as this young character before he wants to retire. Also that classic Oompa is wonderful to see, I hated the one guy oompa in Charlie & the Chocolate factory. Hugh Grant is an interestingly great cast, but hope there would be a few different oompas in any future films instead of just one actor.
No reaction to the Ahsoka trailer?
@@supernovasounds thanks man I don't have Twitter
Are you planning on watching the new trailer for Ahsoka on Wave Squadron?
I doubt we’ll get one but I would love to see a Johnny cameo

Fantastic Beasts and Paddington Pooh sums up this trailer.
I know its a little odd seeing Timothee in a quirky role but this looks good on him.
Why does Rick wear those glasses?
Will you’ll be watching “my adventures with superman”?
Have you recognised Connor Mason? xD I knew he's been up to something. We haven't heard of him in a while...
