I'm assuming that they chose to pitch down because it has less of an impact on sound quality. When you pitch up you essential have to create data that wasn't there. You have to fill the gaps between the audio samples. When you pitch down you essentially are removing some information. Hard to explain it through text lol.

I’ve been pitching up on all regular edits & it’s not every song just some so not sure it actually helps or not. Doesn’t seem to change anything significantly. I try to get out in a min & a half/mix in pretty quickly to existing track to make a mini mash up to combat it & that’s been working more consistently.

Been pitching down on Serato for months.... it’s works....
The fingerprinting algorithm doesn't care about pitch. If the notes and frequencies are following each other in the same ratios it's recognised as the same song.
Just in my experience so far, I have had different results streaming my sets in different ways.
I've never been booted off youtube or twitch, so this is just facebook that I'm going off of.
I've been able to quick mix (only playing 1 verse or even half a verse before transitioning) and got for a little over an hour on facebook.
I've done sets that I let a little more of the songs play out and transitioned at the 2nd verse and those last for about 20-30 min.
I've also done sets that I let the songs play out a bit more but I use alot of effects and filters and went for about 45 min.
I guess the only way I could more accurately test this would be to play the same exact set and make these changes, but people don't want hear me to do 5 sets of the same songs.
But this is just my experience and I cant say that any of the things I did had an effect or not.

He is either using a green screen or a program that removes the background. Based on the quality, id say he is using a green screen.

it sounded like the dolby was on, which i don't like dolby. I like the bare clean sound.
I’ll still use it but without the stream security turned on. That pitched down sound won’t work for me. Thanks for sharing your test results. Great job as always.
Hey Terry just a heads up. I tried Spinstream and I just made a private stream for me and three friends on Facebook and played for twenty minutes or so. I played old stuff at first like Crystal Waters and such. I played Blinding Lights by Weeknd and here goes the notification. It just said it was going to mute the recording of it so I guess in a Live stream it might give you a couple of seconds before muting or kicking you off. So technically it doesnt work. I wish it did but the pitching down really sucks. Pitching up couldve been better. If it worked. Just some info to pass your way.
I'm still hung up on the software, while I too would have pitched up instead of down I did get muted too. I'm really thinking to just stay with Periscopetv and Mixcloud so I can focus more on djing instead of pitching.

i may play some tunes faster ,rarely slower but the key will remain the same.Having the key affected even with your speaking voice is not a good sound.Ithink that some fiddling will be required but as it stands this will not be a feature i would use should i adopt Spinstream at some point.
I am just using Mixcloud for now and it's working fine (had some issues a few weeks ago) but last 2 weeks had 2 hour sets with no issues :)

@@ClevelandTerry streaming on Mixcloud has been pretty good, no copyright issues. I just wish that there was a bigger audience
Noel, you wouldn’t have copyright issues. It’s the nature of Mixcloud. They have agreements with the labels.

Agreed. This goes against the most basic reason why we dj : to share a sound that inspires us. Don’t mess with the sound!!!
You should try Mixlr.com. That's what I use when I do my sets.
I listened to your entire set live, the change in pitch was barely negligible . What I will say is in the beginning of your set you played a song I had not heard in a long time so I hit shazam , no results. I did every song in your set afterwards and only two songs registered and they were ( Xzbit and Big Punisher). I waited until you posted about Spinstream to share it with you. Hope it clarifies a little. I stream on mixcloud , twitch, also facebook . Facebook always knocks me off after 45-55 minute mark, but I am not really concerned I tell people it is going to happen , find me on mixcloud or twitch.

Same here.. I attempted to Shazam a song during his livestream and it couldn’t detect... I tried a couple more blatantly obvious popular songs and Shazam still couldn’t detect 🤷🏽♂️.. For a Live set, the sound was more than acceptable and didn’t know it was being altered until this video lol.. but I did have a suspicion! Good stuff C.T.

P4boot because it does! Been using it for months with just Serato ... pitching down ... but u have to remember to do it for every track! Pls can someone post on how to hook up this software with a Rane 72 and 2 laptops?
