That's a good idea, asking designers to add a light on the filter/color knob to show which one is active.
This! Man, as a visually challenged individual i really need more light coming thru on the board when im in dark settings
I’m pretty sure NS7Iii had that. I still have mine in storage. Maybe I should fire it up to check lol
@@seansaca yeah def let me know. Or if you know of any other good controllers with more lighting around the knobs & faders..in addition to the pads.
omg hi professor :D
@@Jekoza hi!
Stoked for this! Thanks for the review Cleveland.
The fact that you can turn this into a stationary jog is pretty sweet. I'll likely always use the motorized function but it's dope to have the option.
But do they work the same as static jogs when the motor is turned off? I don't think so...
@@isaiahfurrow7414 No, they do not work as a normal stationary jog wheel, so beware of that upon purchasing
Awesome awesome video, thank you for always showing up and showing out , you-da-man
Much love my boy forgot to comment after the video. Best review yet, to the point, clear and concise.
Appreciate that
I really like that idea of installing a light on the effects knobs. I HAVE accidentally brought a track in on deck 2 not knowing the filter was engaged. Great stuff, Mr. T.
Nice piece of equipment, glad Rane brought back the motorize platters, so much magic to be done on this. Great review CT.
Great video! Just picked up one today! Amazing piece of equipment!
Is there a way to have the BPM show two decimals?
Great Video and information, been waiting on this! 2thumbsUp, CT!
appreciate that
My boy CT doing a Rane review with a Technics shirt 😎
I was thinking the same thing. 😂
I see no issue here. 😀
@@ClevelandTerry I concur😅
Nothing wrong with giving technics props original old school 😊

Absolutely phenomenal review Cleveland! With all the options and incredible built in features, this controller will become a major staple in the DJ community! As someone who was a longterm user of the Numark NS7ii this feels like everything we've wanted with a futuristic feel!
Thanks again for the detailed review! Cheers
Great vid, CT!!
Thanks you covered all my Questions perfect review.
Glad it was helpful!
It’s about time!!!!! Let’s go!!!!!
Great review. As a DJ who rarely scratches but working on it. I think I'll stick to my rane four since most of the new software features were added to the four in firmware update. Rane did a great job on this controller and the pricing is aggressive. Do you think we will see a price drop on the rev7?
I just purchased it after seeing this! Finally!! I've been waiting for this! I've had the NS7II for a long time and when Serato quit supporting it, I was bummed that I wasn't able to use Stem Separation! Now I'll be able to do so much more! Can't wait to start practicing!
The NS7 iii is still supported, cause its class compliant. The Performer adds more functions, but you still will be able to use the NS7 iii. Prices on any plattforms should go down for the III now. I am going to sell my 2 III's now. Should be around 500 - 600 Euros.
Disgruntled Rane One user here - I've had the Rane One since launch and used it as my main controller for almost 3 years now and all we've been asking Inmusic for is a 2-channel MK2 edition with adjustable upfaders, LED screens, and onboard stems controls. (Along with some other shit but thats another issue).
I also would have suggested to Inmusic to stop copying the Pioneer FLX series and switch to the REV layout if you want to attract the Turntablists give them a battle styled layout. Turntablists don't want the 4-channel club layout that you see on the Pioneer FLX series... at least copy the REV layout if you're gonna copy Pioneer. It's meant for turntablists.
Overall, it looks like a good controller but I already have a Pioneer FLX-10 and it's not repalcing it. What we wanted was a Rane One Mk2 edition not a 4-channel club controller.
Just my opinion after years of owning a rane One, don't mean i'm right or wrong... just my first thoughts after watchin the demos by craze, perly, bastid and kswizz.
Great review/walk-through CT. What an incredible controller. If it were stand-alone (no laptop needed), then it would be perfect. I think I'll hold off until then.
Been waiting on this
Looks very dope!
Thanks for the review sir. I am glad they did something about that tinny microphone on the Rane4 this time around
Absolutely!
Great Review Cleveland, and $1999.00 is a doable price and reachable. Thanks for sharing.
I will be upgrading from my ns7iii. This is what I've been waiting for.
Nice!! I'll be upgrading from my NS7II
I have theN7, NS7III and Rev 7. I want this. I consider it the NS7IV.
I only have the REV 1, i'm so glad i waited until this rather than RANE FOUR
I'll wait for NS7 4
Thats a thing ? @4wrestlingfans
I love your videos! I'm a 60 year old rookie DJ and I'm learning so much from you!
My brother and I had that same conversation when the rumors about the Performer hit and we said $2K would be the perfect figure as well. It's a good price. Thank you Rane and thanks for another great video C.T.
its a very nice piece but I love my rev 7 very nice demo and video of the performer though Cleveland Terry thanks
awesome review✌🏿
Good Job My Brother!🔥
light on the color knob...YES!
Thank you.Questions...
When it comes to me getting a controller, I want great sound, great build, great fader, great motorized platters...Would you recommend this Rane or a Pioneer controller of the same qualities and why?
Oh I have used the older Pioneers before when I spun with someone else, yet I am coming from being trained on turntables, namely Mt Technics decks and original Rane DJ mixer..yes,I still have tons of records..
Excellent review... I have been a rane user for many years, actually I own the rane 4 and look in the near future to get this one! The weight is not a big deal for me, I prefer something that is made of metal that plastic/toys controllers (pioneer controllers)
Great video. One small thing I noticed (not related to the device but the video), the front on camera seemed to be constantly refocusing (especially for the background, orr is it just me?). Also, do you know if there is any way to get the master output in the headphones as cue? Does the split cue incorporate that or no?
Turn your mix knob from cue to main on the front panel.
Hi @ClevelandTerry,
Currently, I own a Pioneer DDJ SZ, a Rane One, and two Rane Twelves with a Pioneer S11 Mixer. Today, I sold my DDJ SZ and purchased the Rane Performer. When I DJ weddings, I use a controller at the ceremony, another setup at the cocktail hour, and a third setup at the reception (I know it's overkill, but it works for me). I'll be using the Rane Performer as my main gear at the reception, and my Rane Twelves will be used at the cocktail hour instead of the other way around, lol.
You did a fantastic review; it answered almost everything I needed to know except for one thing. You didn't mention that Rane took away the Touch Strip/search strip (only seen on the Rane One). So, my question is: how do you skip through a song or scroll through the track to find a specific part in a song like on the Rane One, but on the Rane Performer without using your laptop?
No controller is perfect or will appeal to every DJ-we always find something to gripe about, lol. Personally, I prefer a large-sized controller like the Rane Performer, which is why I held onto my DDJ SZ for so long. I can't wait to take this new bad boy out for a spin. BTW, I also DJ at clubs, bars, events, etc., but here in Canada, I use my best equipment only at weddings.
Anyways, keep doing what you do, you are obviously one of the top CZcams review DJ's in my opinion, so the words you say during your reviews matter a lot to us lessor known DJ's. Thank you for putting in the work that it takes to create these videos.
I'm definitely getting the Rane Performer.
Sup...ns7iii user....been debating on a performer...I mix video....question...when mixing 4 tracks and switching between decks deck 1and 3 for example...on ns7iii the video audio would drop out and the other deck is master. With RP...would thus be the same or will audio video play depending on which up fader is engaged?
as u know I BEeN WAITING FOR THIS FOR A VERY LONG TIME : FINALY MY TIME TO BUY.
Here we go
Great review. Random Question. Did you purposefully wear a technics shirt to make a Rane review?
It was clean and didn’t say pioneer dj or some retailer. I didn’t even think about it. 😂
@@ClevelandTerry oh I’ve been there! 😂😂😂
Rane coming in the clutch! If I didn't have the Rev7 I would be all over this thing... IMMEDIATELY!!! Thorough review, CT!
Hey Terry, do you see a Rane One MK2, with these amazing updates like onboard fx, tension adjust on cross fader, etc; make a run at taking down the Pioneer Rev 7. The Rane 4 had some sound issues that made it sound tinny. I hope they got this figured out on this controller. Great review!!!
I think an update is inevitable
i guess i need to put my rane four up for sale and put my order in lol. Great review
Big up Bro good review. I really need a new controller. I think its time to pull the trigger
There's some great things i like about this controller... now to decide if the differences warrant the additional cost over the Four... I'm hoping to see a bumch of emd users report back , and hoping this is rock solid , as im hesitant to get a Four after seeing a lot of people with issues early on with the Four.
Motorized jogs are a big difference, and i use stop time knob on my current deck often. The screens look amazing on the jogs, and I like how they implimented the magnetic mechanism.
The faders being updated i hope is a big improvement in long term use, as a piece of gear meant for professional use it neeeds to be solid and for this cost it shluld last a good long time.
I'd love for it to have been a few hundred cheaper, but you're right, it could be a bit more and wouldnt be overpriced for some people.
The booth options in thenmenu, allowing mic to go to the booth is nice... that is what i think makes it also "zone" , so output can be adjusted independently for a second area or room, or...maybe used as a stage monitor if working with a singer, etc...
My current board is in a flight case, wirh a DBX unit, wireless mic unit, etc... its heavy... im hoping to find a lighter case when/if i do end up with this unit...
Good to hear you're happy with the mic inputs, i use the mic inputs on my current Denon unit a LOT and haven't felt the need for an external mixer for most occasions. For 2k$ it should have great mic implimentation.
Excited to have access to the library of internal effects and the channel effects...
Thanks for the great video, a hamdful of things have me really wanting this unit over the Four....now to start stuffing cash into a mason jar for a few months...
Nice review bro, but does the unit have to be connected to a computer? No internal ssd’s , thumbdrive etc…vs standalone?
It's not standalone. It requires Serato etc
I have Rane12s mk2s can I use HiD Mode? Looks like it only has line input for DVS.
I adopted the Rane 4 at release and returned it due to an issue with the left deck. I waited five weeks for a replacement just to return it for a similar issue. Because of this, I've been renting a Pioneer S11 for the past seven months and I don't think I can ever do pads under the jogs anymore.I also moved away from battle mode and now reverted back to a regular setup (Phase) and I've found my groove again. 4ch is intriguing though...
Another great review.. is it the same size as the Four? Just made a custom case for my Four and would love to be able to use it for the Performer (if I decide to upgrade)..
It should fit
@@ClevelandTerry yes.. thank you.. I probably should have checked the specs before asking the question..
(Four: 30.8 x 15.9 x 4.2
Performer: 30.84 x 15.84 x 4.32)
love your videos.
Hail !!!!..... the long awaited. RANE PERFOURMER........ Thanks for the review and all the hints up to this day..... I am simply in love with this controller.... However you pointed out the indicator lights above the filter knobs, its a little let down...... Can you demonstrate by hooking up the rane 12 mk 2 or denon lc6000 or both to this controller? 😏🙌👌
Hi Terry, Virtual DJ work or mapped to work on rane performer ? great channel, thx
I have not tested virtual dj on it yet so I’m honestly not sure. Knowing VDJ if it’s not out it will be soon.
To be able to view your library on the jog wheel is amazing . Would have been nice to have a USB input . That would have made it almost a stand alone controller as well. #LoveIt
you're a GEM Cleveland!
💎
As a techno fan never knew Andrea would actually pull of a good mix but here I am. Good shit!
Question, I don’t recall seeing the Talk Over button, does it have one?
love it upgraded from Rane Four
Finally!
i wish they would move the pitch into battle mode still not getting it right but i like the few upgrades that they have to offer its just some little things like the headphones can go in the middle that would be awesome just little things would be cool
Love my four, no need for moving platters. However, for those who want it, this is awesome
I had the ns7 III how does it compare to?
Hey CT, great video as always. Maybe try setting your camera on manual focus next time, it was in and out the whole video. Talking about the performer, i'm just really sad that i bought a four some months ago :(
Focus was fine from my end
Camera has been acting strange. Might have to reinstall the firmware. It keeps trying to look past me.
@@ClevelandTerry it's a tiny detract from a great content, keep it coming man. I'm a fan here from Brazil!
Are the screen's on the platters oled?
11:45 Cleveland you sold me
dang it. i just got the rane one and the hercules T7. now i gotta save up for this! was planning on the Rev7 but nope i want the Rane Performer!
Im gonna stay with the rane one. I modified it to play 45’s and also It is heavy enough.
So, CT, The Main Question Here is ....... If you had to take a controller out to a gig, would you take this one over the REV 7? Definitely has a lot of bells and Whistles ! Perfect Review FAM!
Check my versus video tomorrow fam. 7am.
One question. How do you strip search to skim through your track?? No strip search like on Rane One?
I actually didn’t test that but my thought is holding shift and rotating the jog. That’s how others have worked.
you're making me desire products I don't need Terry ! 😎
I'm upgrading from the NS6😮 Always a 4 channel guy👍🏾
Great review. It's very obvious you know what you're talking about ✌🏿
I appreciate that. Check my versus video that goes up Friday at 7am.
I am in love with my RANE One, but this things makes me wanna throw more money at RANE
Rane One for the win. Hopefully comes down in price with the new release.
At first glance it reminds me of my NUMARK NS7III
WOW
Thank you FINALLY the NUMARK NS7 IV now I have a replacement for my NUMARK NS7III 😂😂 let’s go!!!!
Price point is great!!!! Very competitive!
How do jogs feel vs rev7? This is certainly a competitor.
Rev7 jogs felt too light like scratching on air. How’s this compared to that?
Change your slip mats. It makes a hell of a difference since I went with a thicker felt.
You need dvs expansion for turntables ?l
Prefer rev 7 still. But this is cool!
Stem split sounds cool
super fun to play with
I miss the click of the Vestax fader
Cut it up bro!! Sounding good man
thank you
Cleavland…. Sometimes you gotta “ZONE OUT” man…😎
I want the ten inch platter for real. If they came out with the 10 inch platter , they could do away with the rane 12.
12inchskins will provide soon
Looks just like the rev7..I’m good on this
Did Rane ever fix their issue with the static/pop in the VDJ timecode. I don't know if they had this issue in the Rane one or four, but it is definitely an issue with the Rane Twelve MK2's
Different platters and components.
@ClevelandTerry ok, understood. Much appreciated brotha. Keep up the great work.
which has better sound quality, the Rev7 or the Performer? Thanks!
Check my versus video Friday at 7am!
on it.. thank fam :p
@@ClevelandTerry
That thing is gonna be heavy with the case. Don't even think about adding inside the case.
Great overview, first controller that’s made me think of swapping out my 1210’s & DVS setup.
not letting use our logo is crazy
Man. I literally just bought the rane 4 maybe I should send it back and get this. I don't like it not having motorized wheels. Damn
Would love an all in one
I want all of this in a standalone with 12" platters, the ability to put efx on stems and all the bells and whistles of the Prime 4+. Yes, all of them lol...
Until then I'm sticking with the Prime 4+. I know no one reading this cares. But a man can dream.
lol holy weight batman. Adding 2 twelves would make your dream machine probably close to 75lbs.
@@atypical_blk_guy I think it would be around 1lb per inch of platter. So it would come out to 10lbs heavier than this. But that is my logic. I wouldn't consider it actual proven theory. 😂 a man can dream.
Я тоже этого хочу
I wish they would sell the screen to upgrade the rane 4. That would be dope.
Not remotely possible. It’s a completely different device.
@ClevelandTerry Thanks for that update. I literally just bought my rane 4 (3 days ago) and contemplating taking it back to get this.
i owns Rane4,😅 and i truthfully must be Honest To Say!!!! REV7 Quality is No Where in the League of The RANE PERFORMER’,🎉…28 Pounds is Great!!!!!, meaning… Not Cheap’…. Thank YOU’…. RANE’…..most definitely Buying this Controller!!!!!🤣👊🏾🔥RANE PERFORMER’….. lets Go!!!!!
Would've been great if it had 4 line ins to match the 4 channels. Pretty nice though..
Nice kit, but I prefer the REV / battle style layout for sure
Rane Ten is next.
Great Video, Rane at the top of the game, Pioneer close second, Numark, Where are you?
Numark is Rane is inmusic. I doubt you’ll see a moving platter on a numark unless the use bands. If they do it will be entry level…as all numark products are now.
They missed the mark for me. Not class compliant! Meaning it cannot be used with an iPad running iOS. For those that haven’t run Algoriddim DJay on an iPad with a Rane one, you are missing out. It is extremely intuitive. I would have upgraded from my Rane one setup (mainly for the screens) if it was class compliant.
I wish Rane would have come out with their own thing instead of biting Pioneer's design with the moving platters . It would have been more refreshing to see some newer innovation. The other thing for me personally it's not necessary to need 4 channels I would be more inclined to purchase if it was a 2 channel .. Rane usually has solid build quality and its very nice that the faders are user accessible with a removable top plate unlike the REV7 that was a huge disappointment I did a full tutorial on that process on my channel . It is sad that not all the faders are MAG4 thats always a let down to me when companies cut corners like this on mixers . Overall this looks like a cool item it's not really giving me that wow factor but looks like a piece of solid gear I will stick with my REV7 great review by the way .
How much is this
I take my ns72 to all my gigs its not really heavy to me and from time to time i use rane 12s mk2 at gigs as well im guess im use to carrying heavy gear since 1200's
That’s exactly it. You’re used to it.
