I'm really just starting my excavating career ( late in life), but I live being outdoors. I've been using my Kubota tractor doing driveways and parking lots ,extensions, etc.
I'm going to get a mini excavator later this year.

Nice work on the house seat. Some neat little tricks in there. I use the measure app on my iPhone and set it to my side. So I can check for level front to back and left to right all at the same time.
Awesome instruction man. I'm waiting to get a mini ex, as a homeowner land owner. I may do some weekend jobs to get fuel mo ey etc... and this could be one of them once I get some time in seat.

Get a laser. You can rent them for pretty cheap and they aren't that expensive to buy. An entry level laser set up will run about $700 or so. If you can't get a laser, get a transit. Cheaper and much more accurate then how Todd is doing it. You will need a second person though.

First time I’ve watched a House Seat cut in from start to finish. Great job explaining how you did it too Todd! Some day I’ll add a mini-ex to my little tractor business and get to put these pointers into action. I have dug a house seat and footers for a 30x30 shop before with my 1025r. Looks much easier with an excavator.

If using Rustoleum paint some times you have to twist the can ever so slightly for the paint to spray, also check the piece that make contact with the tip on the can sometimes it can build up with dried paint causing the paint not to spray correctly. Depends on the batch some times it’s perfect then sometimes you just wanna throw the can. Love the videos keep it up.
