    I love how this one turned out. The grey color showing through gives it a totally different feel from normal grains. My house has grey walls which can coordinate with just about any color so I really do love this.

    This wood looks like Chinese Elm to me. I have one in my front yard that looses branches every year during the monsoon. It is one of my favorite woods. It is also allegedly the hardest of the elm woods. Did it have a pepery smell?

    • @IanMacWoodturning
      @IanMacWoodturning  Před 2 lety

      Hmm I wouldn’t say peppery, maybe more floral than anything

    Is the wood spalted pine?
    These looks nice.

    • @IanMacWoodturning
      @IanMacWoodturning  Před 2 lety +1

      I think it might be some type of fir, it doesn’t have a particularly piney smell

    Persimmon is the type of wood

    questions.
    1 how did you come up with this design
    2 was it hard
    3 what kind of wood is it
    4 can any block of wood look like that like say from a pican tree branch that fell on the ground?

    • @IanMacWoodturning
      @IanMacWoodturning  Před 2 lety

      1. I just made it up as I went
      2. In terms of wood, I’d say average.
      3. Unsure, maybe some type of Camphor but I couldn’t be 100%
      4. Lots of wood can come out nice, you just have to find out when you turn it really.
