Hey, this isn't only for cosplay. I've been looking into making some silicon molds to construct pieces for sculptural objects and possibly using foam clay as an alternative to resin. It was good timing to come across this video that goes through the foam clay do's and don'ts. Very helpful. Thanks.

Mold it, freeze it, remove it, and go on to the next one. Much faster than waiting for it to dry enough to remove, especially if you live in a humid area.

In case no one has asked. I make headdresses. Im making filigree (ive used metal in the past. But most is not able to be soldered as its aluminum or aluminum alloy). I have silicone molds for filigree. Similar to yours. When I do press, it has tiny pin holes or air bubbles after drying. Ive tried adding drops of water to smooth the surface before kneading. Ive pressed harder. Weighted it down to keep the pressure. Ive also increased the drying time. But air bubbles all 3 times... Any advice? Thanks 😊
I just found your channel and I love it! I learned the freezer trick with foam clay from another creator but they glossed over the instructions pretty quickly so you filled in lots of gaps! I do have a question about the finished pieces. A lot of mine, after I demold them, are misshaping slightly as they dry outside of the freezer. They come out of the mold perfectly and very crisp but, at room temp, they start to soften around the edges. Do you have any tips for keeping the finished pieces crisp and sharp as they airdry?
So I don't do the freezer thing, but maybe I should? Several people have brought it up to me though. I'm just patient and let them cure. It probably has something to do with the depth of the mold, so if it's really thick maybe the freezer doesn't work as well? I would say that if it's an important piece like the front of a chest piece armor for example I would just let it cure naturally to get the most perfect finish and maybe save pieces you're having trouble with for parts of your look that get less visibility. Oh! Sorry. One more questions. If im adhereing moldable foam clay to a metal handband (think filigree halo) what would you think would be the best adhesive? I used to use gem tac when doing metal on metal or plastic on metal. But metal is finnicky in my experience. Any opinions?

I like used Cast N Craft Mold Putty and make my own Silacone presss Molds
It's such a good mold! I think I want to make a necklace from a resin pull from it!

You can also place your molds with cos clay into the freezer to speed up demolding time

Why don't you use a releasing agent?
wax, dish soap, Pam cooking spray
can you attach the mold on to a tumbler
Can you coatbthe Foam Clay
With Modge Podge or flex seal Brush on
chuck it in the freezer, pops out no sweat after a short time no need to wait for hours
