Same, I started last night and finally got my clay to roll out the moulds without breaking. I attached them to my ornaments , woke up this morning with cracks just about everywhere. I made a slurry and tried my best to fix. They aren’t perfect but now it’s a waiting game again.
thank you so much that was one of the best tutorials; clear, quick and understandable.
Thanks so much! I am so glad it was helpful!

❤❤❤thank you ❤❤❤
Hi, can you advise how to clean the furniture with the air dry clay embellishments? If I wanted to add them to some kitchen furniture. I know initially you would use a sealer but for day to day maintenance?
I’m looking for mold to decorate Christmas ornaments to make with my grandkids!
Hi, you can try Iron Orchid Designs or Prima moulds. They both have moulds that might work for decorating ornaments. Hope that helps :)
Thank you! Appreciate you making this. Looking to re do some furniture w/ 🌷🌺🌸. How long does it take to dry? And is E 6000 glue alright to use or wood glue better? Open question to anyone who can answer, thank you in advance.
You are most welcome ;) You can use some E600 but I usually use wood glue. I think both work well though. The wood glue is usually dry fairly quickly. I use the tacky one so there is an initial stick to it. The air dry clay usually dries within a day or so depending on where you live and the humidity. Hope that helps :)
Hi Lisa! ❤️ur video on molds! I want to cast a bee using a metal bee. (The bee protrudes out on the front. I’ll be using clay or hot glue to fill the backside of my bee.) Do you think cornstarch will help release the cast once it cures/dries? I was also told to use oil since this is a huge metal bee. Thank you again for your informative video!❤️❤️❤️
Hi Sandy, I would definitely try the cornstarch. If you dust it first the clay should have no problem releasing from the mould :) Sounds like a fun project!!
@@Recreateddesigns aww, thank you so very much. I’ll send you a pic when I finish👏👏👏👏
Thank you for making it seem simple and straightforward. What was the name of your white air dry clay?
You are welcome! I'm glad it helped. The air dry clay I use is the IOD air dry clay. Here is a link so that you can see what it looked like... recreateddesigns.ca/collections/iod-decor-moulds/products/new-iod-air-dry-clay
Hope that helps.
How do you get the clay out if you didn’t put powder in first? Sorry just starting out!
Thanks so you used wood glue to stick it on bottles an canvas also?
I typically use tacky glue (craft glue that is extra tacky) to stick it onto those types of surfaces. The bottles would depend on what it is made out of but the tacky glue usually works as well :)
Thank you so much! What glue do you recommend to attach this clay to jesmonite please if possible I'm a complete newbie here 😁
Hi Isabel. Jesmonite can be a little tricky since it is a composite material. If you are adding the paper clay to the Jesmonite you would need to let it cure and then use a 2 part epoxy to bond the two together. You can find the epoxy at home improvement stores or even the dollar store sometimes depending on where you live. Hope that help and have fun :)
@@Recreateddesigns thank you so much! I was thinking to use the polymer clay like small flowers made to attach to the jesmonite tray ☺️ will I need the 2 epoxy for it or can I use a piece of clay to "stick" sort to speak to the tray 😅 sorry so many questions
@@isasmakeup No worries at all... I'm happy to help if I can. I would think that you will still need the epoxy. The clay will likely not just stick to the jesmonite. As the clay dries it becomes hard and I don't think it will stick. That begin said I haven't tried it yet lol.
I found this helpful. Thank you.
Although I played the section where you say the name of the brand of clay that you favor, I still don't know. ????
Hi Moira,
I am so glad you found it helpful. The name of the clay I was using is the Iron Orchic Designs (IOD) air dry clay. Hope that helps :)
Yes! I'll see if I can find it. Thanks again.
What kind of glue would you use to adhere air dry clay to a canvas?
Hmm, that is a good question. I would likely use something that has come tack to it so maybe something like E6000. I have done it with wood glue before as well. It will really depend on how large the piece you are trying to attach is (a larger piece will have more weight so will need something stronger to keep it attached).
What is the brand and name of the mold used please.
And where can I get one?
Hi! The mould I used in the video is by Iron Orchid Designs. It is called He LOVES me. I am not sure where you are located but here is a link to purchase it in Canada. (she also ships to the US although you might be able to find it closer depending on where you are located). Hope that info helps :) malenkaoriginals.com/collections/iod-decor-moulds/products/he-loves-me
Can u please tell me where to buy silicone molds and air dry clay?
Thanx
Hi, there are several great companies that make moulds including Iron Orchid Designs (IOD). I am not sure where you are located but you can look at the IOD website and they have a locater to find someone near you that sells them. I am in Canada and have them on my site here... www.recreateddesigns.ca
So its wood glue to stick it on can i used woid glue on bottlesor a different glue
It would really depend on what the bottle is made out of. If it is glass you may want to use a different glue. I use the wood glue for furniture and home decor pieces that are wood generally.
Hi Lisa, I'm having a little trouble finding the class on your website. Could you kindly direct me?
Hi. Here is a link to the virtual class... recreateddesigns.ca/collections/workshops/products/decorative-moulds-101-class
Who makes your daisy mold?
The Daisy mould is an IOD (Iron Orchid Designs) mould called He Loves Me. You can find it here... recreateddesigns.ca/collections/iod-decor-moulds/products/he-loves-me
I tried using fimo air dry, they just fell apart when i took them out the next day, plus they were full of cracks like the clay set to fast as i was adding small amounts
Hi, which airdry clay did you use? They are definitely not all created equal :) I always release the clay right away as well - never leaving it to dry in the mould.
@@Recreateddesigns fimo 1st time 2nd was soft stuff used to make flowers
Where do I buy the molds?
Hi, you can purchase IOD here... recreateddesigns.ca/collections/iod-decor-moulds You can also try looking in your area for IOD or Prima moulds.
What about a deeper mold??
I would use the same process for a deeper mould. If you are having trouble releasing the clay from a deeper mould, try placing it in the freezer for 15 minutes, and then it should come out well.
But ceramic / air dry clay tend to shrink after drying... say, if I'm making a frame it shrinks and gives way in the parts that was linked
Hi, it can shrink a little bit for sure. If you need a tight seal, you can always add in a little clay once the initial has dried to fill in any areas. Generally I have not found it ever to shrink so much that I needed to do that though.
Link to the clay?
I'm in Canada so here is a link to the clay but not sure where you are located... recreateddesigns.ca/collections/iod-decor-moulds/products/new-iod-air-dry-clay Hope that helps.
Sous-titres français svp
Hi Ingrid, try it now, they should be there so let me know if you are still having trouble. Thanks for alerting me that they were not working properly.
Glue them on wet? They don’t shrink and crack? Interesting
They will shrink and crack a bit (any air dry/paper clay will). By gluing them on wet the clay will not shrink on the glued surface. If you dry them first the bottom will not be flat enough to glue it to the furniture piece.
Les sous-titres sont que en anglais manque le français ou italien….
The lady should explain she is using IOD moulds and she mentions she is using IOD
air dry clay:
These 2 products: -
1: the grey/black mould pad and the
2: white air-dry-clay, in my opinion are the two best products on the market:
Firstly the clay doesn't stick to yr finger nor leave leave yr hands with residue of
the colour of the clay on yr hand... so you don't have to wash yr hand to remove the
the white residue left on yr hand:
The mould pad itself seems to
be made of a superior quality where the clay doesn't
stick to the mould and you have to pry the clay out with yr fingers or an instrument:
this clay eliminates all that:
The moulds have a raised
edge on all their individual
designs on every mould.
Meaning its like a lip and
it's a safety catch, NO
OVER FLOW OF THE
CLAY ONTO OTHER
AREAS: THAT LIP
KEEPS ALL THE CLAY
IN THE DUG OUT
DESIGN:
I HAVEN'T SEEN OTHER
PRODUCTS WITH THIS
SAFETY CATCHMENT:
THAT'S WHY IOD PRODUCTS
ARE MORE EXPENSIVE:
What would you like explained? I am happy to explain something further if there wasn't enough clarification.
i triedyoir way and it doesn't work.
I'm very sorry to hear that. I use this method every time I use moulds and I have never had an issue. If your moulds have small pieces, you can also try leaving them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and then popping them out.
Corn starch and
Corn flour are
BOTH THE SAME THING:
They are both made from corn but cornstarch is a thickener and cornflour can be used like traditional flour. I am in Canada and we have both. I use cornstarch in the moulds as I said in the video. You can use whatever works for you though if you find something that works well for you.
My Dear, your intro is way to long. Js
I have lovely flowers moulds that great when I make the impression can I make then an after dry can I attached to bottles or canvas later on if so what glue do I used to attach it
You can :) Once they dry they won't be as pliable but you can still attach them to different things. I either typically use wood glue or tacky glue (craft glue that is extra sticky). One or the other should help to adhere it all for you. Have fun!
@@Recreateddesigns the wood glue is strong I get a good hold on the bottles
Thanks I did try it an it's stronsh what type of vanish can I used to seal the art job from getting water or moist
@@devbachu7072 I would try a water-based sealer. An oil-based one usually yellows over time so you may get an amber look to it.
Thanks
