    We added one to a whitewater kayak we found for £40…it was, as you can imagine, hopeless on a river before…the results were absolutely incredible! It’s fast tracks, still steers fine and was so good…I’m adding a small one to my sundance 9 footer this year for coastal Brittany paddling..

    Exactly what I've been searching for. Thank you

    I believe you would have been better off placing it further back to the rear! All my windsurfers design them to the back and they were more efficient! Placing it in the center makes it perform like a centerboard instead of a skeg. Mounting to the back stops the kayak from spinning or turning left to right!

      This is a two person kayak, unfortunately this was as far back as I could get the fin and get it to sit flat. Still was a big improvement over not having it

      Thank you I’ve been kayaking around 2 years not long just upgraded to a piranha mountain was second hand but great condition I’m struggling with kayak keep turning left so putting one of these on will help control the kayak from drifting left

    Is it quite a big improvement? I brought an old fibreglass kayak and it washes out so easily, been thinking about doing exactly this. Cheers for the video exactly what I was looking for

    • @lewtube1136
      @lewtube1136  Před 3 lety

      Yes it helped. Before our kayak would move side to side allot whilst paddling, by applying the fin this was reduced quite significantly

    Is it easy to remove and will the glue damage the boat if you want to remove the attachment in the future ?

    • @lewtube1136
      @lewtube1136  Před 3 lety +2

      The itself just slides out of the base when you remove the pin holding it. As for the glue, i never took it off sorry so i wouldnt know. Hope this helps

  • @yesmate4530
    @yesmate4530 Před 3 lety

    hey man, thanks for the information. how come you needed to attach/glue it on a flat area rather than further back with a bit more of a contour?

    • @lewtube1136
      @lewtube1136  Před 3 lety +3

      I put it as far back as i could but the base of the fin was not very flexible so i just applied it to where it would have the most contact with the kayak and as far back as i could. It worked though..... Thankfully 🙂

      Where the bottom started going flat, so as far back as i could get it and get as much of the skegs surface area attached to the kayak. Hope this makes sense lol
