Vietnam Hotel Hunt: Pork O'Clock Sidequest 🇻🇳

- ■ VIETNAM, HANOI: Finding a hotel to stay anywhere in the world is a hit or miss operation. The area, noise level, cleanliness, state of the property vs. the photos you saw online and so on can leave you regretting your choice of accommodation which you may now be locked into for a week as you pre-paid before your travels.
In Vietnam you can add to the hotel equation that walking in to the reception without a booking from Booking.com, Agoda.com or Hotels.com will leave you with a vastly better price for the hotel room than if you had booked from the comfort of your living room before flying to Vietnam.
At least 20 0 30% discount can be had by simply walking in and asking for a room in the reception.
That's not the case in for example USA where the online price for hotels are always better than walking in to the hotel with a reservation.
So when in Vietnam, if time and your patience permits, going on a good old fashioned hotel hunt by foot is always the better and more entertaining option.
Not only do you get a better price, plus to see the state of the hotel and neighbourhood before you decide to put your money down but you also get a free adventure!
So let's kick off this Vietnam holiday by searching for a good hotel in Hanoi the capital of Vietnam.

Vietnamese people are so cool! They had to endure pure hell for nearly the entire 20th century and it seems like they're slowly making their way into having a better nation. But no matter what, they always have a smile on their face. BTW, it's so nice to be able to see a travel video where the narrator is not being harassed by scammers!

Hands down the best country I ever visited. Unreal hospitality and authenticity. The main cities, due to influx of tourism, is starting to get 'pricey' but still cheaper than most Asian nations. Countless times my wife and I didnt pay for drinks or food simply because we were 'guests' by random people or street vendors. Absolutely will be back more and more god willing in future. Thank you to the people of Vietnam!
During the period of your first Vietnam videos I met my wife who is from Vietnam and now after 5 years we are married, time flies . Nice to see you back to my favorite country
I started watching your video's before i went to Vietnam in i think 2019. Here we are, 5 years later. I met my wife there (also dutch, she was traveling too) and we now have a 4mo baby. Still watching every video you make. We have gone full circle. Thanks for the past 5 years of entertainment.

Man, that bike route series from Northern Vietnam was my favorite. I still remember you taking a random swim in the middle of the forest in one of the videos, and crashing a random getty in a theme park. Good times.

vietnamese people are by far my favorite out of any country, they're so humble and kind, from my experience, they give you when they don't have much themselves, love them so much.

I went to Hanoi in August last year after coming home to the UK for two years I was shocked how fast Hanoi is developing, not just the old quarter.
Still love Vietnam though best place with the most hospitable people

Harold is definitely super local 😂 I worked with a Vietnamese man for almost 20 years he came here in the 80s with his family. They turned me onto the PHO and I been a fan since. Also some of the most hospitable people I've ever met. Glad to see your back beautiful country and people.

I am your new subscriber from the philippines, i used to mingle with vietnamese people they are refugees who's been travelling via canoe boat during the height of the war in vietnam and they just landed in my province PALAWAN where they stay there from 1979 to 1985 the UNICEF and the ROMAN CATHOLIC and other good samaritans taking care of them, most of them are in US, AUSTRALLA and other parts of the world now. They are amazing people,❤️

My mom actually went to Vietnam with a friend of hers. Her friend is from Vietnam and she has family that lives there. So my mom learned a lot about Vietnam. She experienced a lot.

What i find unusual coming from working in a safety organization for 15 years is how a train track can be a tourist spot with cafes stools all along the tracks people standing, walking and evrn msking fires on them. All of which is totally entertaining. Vietnam does Vietnam their way. That pork meal looked delicious 😋 omg Noodles at the very end !

Ha Ha the hat vendor said with your beard , you look like Uncle Ho ( Ho Chi Minh ) , not alcohol ( bad English pronunciation ) . FYI during the French colonization , the French people used to live in Ba Dinh district . When he was young , Prince Consort Henrik of Denmark and his parents used to live on Phan Dinh Phung street , not too far from the West Lake . Apparently today their villa is still there . Honestly 80 or100k for that conic hat is a bit expensive . Usually you can get it for 50-60 K . For a kind and rich tourist like you , it doesn't make a big difference but it does help a lot that poor street vendor . She meant her hometown when she said "my country" . Thank you so much for helping the hardworking people . To tell you the truth not many foreign tourists in VN are as kind as you . They always count every Dong ( 1 USD = 25 000 Dong ) when they purchase something . On the other hand there are some scammers in the streets as well like everywhere in the world . Just bargain a bit but not too hard .
