When trying to download a game it keeps saying [cli] CRITICAL: Installation cannot proceed, exiting.
Any issue if I installed epic though another method for rdr2, which requires rockstar online and then I installed this ? Will there be a clash if that make any senses

Does the savegame/progress of the game save to the epic account, or only locally?

What would be the advantage using this method compared to using Heroic Launcher which also after the game is installed is also place in the Steam OS?
Junk-Store is extensible, so if you don't like the way stuff is done you can alter the scripts in the backend. if you're able to script and write code you can even add your own store fronts. It's just a different approach, if you're happy with Heroic stick with it.
I eventually found a function for this, my brother uses my epic account in this junk plug and uses his own epic account in herioc. This way he has access to his games and mine

I'll be down once cloud saves work. That's my big gripe with Heroic atm.
The NonSteamLaunchers app supports it perfectly!! It has been the only way I install other launchers after trying it out. And it can do stuff like configure xbox cloud streaming and GeForce now.
Is there a compatibility list ? It seems to work fine. All games can be play ?
Not rly for other launchers like epic and also it would be a moving target. As the deck gets updates sometimes games break and sometimes they work again lol. Just gotta try and experiment. Also its not just is a game works. Which compat layer was needed. That can be diff to. You just gotta get used to experimenting. The Deck is an enthusiast tinkering device as much as it is anything else.
This video is very helpful to me since there are some new free games on Epic. Quick question though, will we still be able to incorporate the CheatDeck plugin here?
Honest nobody has tested this, but give it a try and report back.

The launch options for Epic games are quite sensitive, and we've invested over 100 hours in researching and reverse engineering to reach this point. If CheatDeck is manipulating launch options, we cannot predict the potential consequences, so attempting to implement this feature may lead to unintended issues. Due to the complexity involved, we're hesitant to pursue this feature further.
However, if you're determined to make it work, the extension scripts are open and designed to be more accessible than plugin code. Feel free to experiment and try to implement it yourself. If you submit a suitable pull request, we'll be happy to merge it for general use.

I got everything running and launched a game, all good. You said the download saves weren't working but on that menu I didn't even have the option to download them. Just wondering why would it be different on my end?
There's a lot of reasons to love the steam deck, I totally agree
For me, when I try installing the dependencies I'm just stuck with, "Working... Do not close this screen." It's about 15 mins and nothing has changed.

UPD: unstuck after a couple of minutes. Just got message: "Installing? Installation complete.". Then tap install again and it started installation... Weird.
If you can contact with the developer(s) of the app , I have a great suggestion why don't they install the sutable proton type with the game files this is going to make it more useful 😊
I bought RDR2 a while ago, it was a hassle but eventually got it working until Rockstar came out of nowhere with an update breaking it and i never got it working again

Fallout 3 doesnt seem to download, its probably because it has a launcher before starting the game, im getting a an eof error, eof when reading a line. Any solutions?
That's a bug that is fixed in the next release once it hits the testing store. It has been submited, just waiting on approval.

Is this when you type your login? Sometimes the page will freeze, just continue to type and it will sort itself out. This is not a junk-store bug but a quirk in the login form presented by legendary
Do the kingdom hearts games work?
Heroic does Epic, Gog, Amazon Prime Gaming, why do you need something else now?
It's just an alternative easier to use and integrated to Gaming Mode
I get a lot of stuttering with games installed through Heroic (eg. The Talos Principle, Grime, Ghostrunner), so I'm looking for an alternative that maybe solves the problema

How do you change the artwork for the plugin? It doesn’t show the option on my epic games option
For the plugin itself you'll have to mess around with the database, this is not something that's supported at the moment. Currently it gets the artwork from Epic directly.
The emudeck plugin lets you easily change games art from within games by mode
@@ollybalsom6614 you can change the artwork on the steam shortcut, but it's not supported in the junk-store plugin part. Does that make sense?
Do you know if Hogwarts works this way? Is used the Epic store through the heroic app but I get a runtime.dll error or something. Genshjn through the heroic app worked like a charm however 🤷🏼♂️
Experimental support for Umu Proton fixes is coming, so once the fix for Hogwarts is in that it should work. However, as far as I know there currently isn't a fix for Hogwarts, but it's likely that one will be added soon.
I have logged in but can't seem to view my epic library. Any ideas on what I might be missing?

Nice plugin but cantload all my games on epic. stops after 100 games with no option to go to another group. Guess im still using heroic.

Free epic games just makes steam deck much mkre superior over switch. Rog Ally technically is easier, but I’ve seen QC issues.

No cloud saves? Next time say it at the beginning, because now I installed dependencies and I have a junk on steam deck because I don't know how to remove it since it doesn't work fully.
Was very clear thru the whole video this is “ the beginning and unfinished “ getting in on ground level and included all the info i could. Maybe watch the whole video before deciding of its a method for you lol 😂

I just started testing Cyber today. It won't allow log-in to CDPR yet, but I was able to get the game running. I'll run it again from fresh install in a bit and detail what I do to get there
Download the game from within Junk-Store
You will receive an error at the end of download: "Command produced no output. If you haven't installed the dependencies you can do so from the about menu"
Ignore this. Press B to clear this error. The download will be stuck, click cancel. You'll see an error about "ginger cancelled". Just press install game again. The ginger installation will complete
The "options set" pop-up will appear
Click play game
The steam circle will pop up on the screen, just wait for it while things are put together
When the CDPR sign in screen appears, click "continue without account"
Click the yellow play button. The screen will be black for about 12 seconds, then the Cyberpunk intro will begin
Game on!
Does Fortnite work despite using EAC?
No fortnite on Deck / Linux at all other than cloud gaming.

Gta V doesn’t work for me
As a long-term PC user I tried a Switch and really enjoyed the mobile experience. Wanting to take advantage of my Steam library I got a Steam Deck Oled. Absolutely hate it. The amount of dicking around you have to do to get anything to work is a huge pain in the arse. Even deck verified games don't work!
Over the decades I've built many PCs and done enough fiddling for a lifetime. The Switch really spoiled me - everything just works. I watched lots of reviews of the Deck and none mentioned the absolute hassle to do anything. The hardware is great, etc but it's really only for the enthusiast.
there is still a ton of room for potential for steam to make them more user friendly E.G easier gamespass install, easier windows install etc for sure but honestly?
as someone who is not an extreme enthusiast and casual gamer - for me it's just a better investment then the switch at this point!

What the hell are you talking about?
The funny part is that the Steam Deck replaces the Switch with a simple emulator. You get Steam, Epic, Gamepass, and all the emulators you can dream of ON ONE MACHINE. 😂😂😂
It's such a great time for handhelds, if you don't like the steam deck you can have your pick of so many different shapes and flavours! The deck is certainly not for everyone, hope you find your perfect handheld!

What about offline use? How does that work?
There's a toggle for that, but honestly I've not had the time to test it thoroughly, report any issues you encounter. Basically what ever legendary allows can be done.
