  • TalkTV’s Alex Phillips has described the moment she was the victim of a mugging at 11.30am on London’s main shopping street - and how she suffered a panic attack as a result.
Speaking to Jeremy Kyle and Rosie Wright on Talk Today, Phillips explained how her assailant tried to rob her in broad daylight on Oxford Street.
She said: “Before I know it, a kid on a push bike has zoomed off. I have no doubt he was trying to go for the phone… Nobody batted an eyelid.”

I was chased by 4 guys with samurai swords and a bottle of acid on Oxford St cos I smacked someone for grabbing my armani bag. This was ab 8pm there were hundreds of people watching, noone even called the police. I ran into a shop and the lady working there saw the boys and locked the door. Police arrived 40 mins later, the guys were loitering outside flashing their swords for a solid 10 mins. My black coat turned purple from where they sprayed me with the acid. These guys were literally trynna kill me and in the end police couldn't identify them even though I told them the name of 1 of them and the specific estate they lived at. The police also tried to victim blame me, they said it wouldn't have happened if i didn't hit 1 of them, focusing on that rather than the fact I nearly got murdered. They were talking to me like a naughty child while the acid was still burning my coat. I also have friends that have been mugged n had weapons pulled on them at busy train stations and even inside the cinema.

When the kid started mouthing off, one of the officers tapped his gun in the holster, and the gobby little git immediately became compliant.
I have a question. If Oxford Street is a hotspot for crime, why aren't there more police foot patrols?

Firstly, people will become more aware of their surroundings, particularly in busy areas, so will be more careful when holding their phone in a busy area.

A Birmingham judge decided to make an example of a 16 year old and sentenced him to life. There was a huge out cry about it. After some time it was quashed and a lesser sentence imposed. But it did the trick muggings dropped drastically.

@jaimez23 Say What bad things about scousers? My Mum was a Scouser born and bred ( Scotty road). She married and moved to Scotland with her Scottish hubby ( my Dad) in the 60's. She never lost her accent , which is good as I don't believe folk should lose their accent of where they come from in the UK. In my opinion , folk who move elsewhere and lose their accents , it's deliberate and false . No one truly loses their accent unless it's intentional . Anyway, back to the subject in hand. I never ever heard anyone have anything negative to say about Scousers . They're down to earth , the salt of the earth and all that . Good sense of humour just like we Scots folk . My Mum sadly died last year of Parkinson's disease ( God rest her soul ) but as I say I never heard anyone having anything negative to say about Scousers . My Mum lived here in Scotland for 57 years . Her sister and brother in law still live down there in Liverpool . I've Visited down there many , many times throughout my 55 years on this earth . Anyway , I didn't and don't see anyone bad mouthing Scousers anywhere in the UK ever, even on the TV or internet.

The sight of an indiginous actual born and bred Scouser whilst walking around many parts of Liverpool nowadays is a rare sight indeed . Any robberies that get through to the CPS, they will no doubt water down the charges. In 2000/2001 there was a robbery street crime initiative that covered 6 of the worst forces in England and Wales with robbery offences. (The usual suspects were taken to task, ie the Met, West. Midlands, Nottinghamshire, Great Manchester etc) We need exactly the same approach NOW but with all crime. Put the Chief Constables under personal pressure and then and only then do they act!

Just think how differently these events would turn out if the perpretators knew the citizens were armed and would be rewarded for removing each predator. The ONLY way you stop predators is by making "victims" too dangerous to attack. That is why lions NEVER attack a full grown elephant or Hippo -- they have learned such activity is a death sentence. Every citizen can be made too dangerous to attack; all one needs to do is arm them AND reward them for each predator "pelt". IF you do NOT have the guts to do so; stop whining -- Lions never give a damn about how the herds of antelopes cry. So choose to become a predator or shut up.

Nobody batted an eyelid, no wonder.
Remember the man driving home from work, he saw a woman being punched on a bridge, stopped his car and came to her defense.
Of course, the attacker turned on the Good Samaritan, thus the Good Samaritan threw one punch. Unfortunately, the attacker died from said punch. The Crown Attorney's Office assessed the Good Samaritan didn't have to punch so hard (easy to 2nd guess when he wasn't at the scene) and charged the man with manslaughter.
Good Samaritan was convicted and is now serving a 7 year sentence in a British jail.
So when she says "no one batted an eyelid" this is one powerful reason why. Get involved and you may end up incarcerated and whether you think it's wrong is immaterial. If Crown Attorney wants to charge you, you're out of luck.
I will step in and defend a woman if she's a relative or family friend. But a stranger? If the laws don't change the risks are simply too high. CHANGE THE LAWS!!!!!!!
