  • After an about 5 year absence from the fish hobby due to a move from Ohio to New Zealand, I finally have a new tank up and running and stocked with fish!

Thanks, Klaus. I thought you would appreciate seeing some NZ Tropheus! ;-)
I've never kept Duboisi before, but I remember seeing them when I was about 12 years old in the fish store in Germany I always used to go to. Rift Lake cichlids where pretty unusual back then, but that store had an amazing assortment, including stuff like huge Calvus. Still, the cute dotted fry of the Duboisi stood out. Don't know why I never got any in Ohio, but better late than never!

Nice dude should be a good breeding colony I’m guessing? Where did you get yours from.

Wen Chou Fan, goes by Kyle, or Silver_Lance on TradeMe. Nice guy, great fish! I've got 14 Maswa, which is about the minimum number I'd like to start a colony with. My last colony of Tropheus in the US I started with 28 fish. Wanted to buy 25, got 3 freebies and a great price. Everything is cheaper in the US!

No more Frontosa? Not for this tank? THAT old tank was one of the best Frontosa tanks on youtube..right there with the public Cologne aquariums larger exhibit.

Thanks for the compliments! I only have this tank now. So no, no more Frontosa. As they say, a change is as good as a rest. To be frank, even if I still lived in the US, but now I would have converted the Frontosa tank to white sand with Enantiopus sp. "Kilesa" and some cool variety of Cyprichromis. I was thinking hard about it in 2014 before I left the US. Sadly, neither of these fish are on the New Zealand White List, so they are not allowed or available here.

This is a Tanganyika tank - my new one! ;-)
The one with the Frontosa I had to sell. It's a long way from Ohio to New Zealand, and they don't allow 240G tank in the hand luggage on the plane!
