  • The ATEM Mini Pro is the next level in Blackmagic Design's revolutionary line of compact video switchers!
    Similar to its predecessor, the ATEM Mini, the ATEM Mini Pro from Blackmagic Design is a four-input live production switcher with an integrated control panel designed for multicamera live streaming up to HD video to the internet or broadcast applications from gaming consoles, corporate computer streams, or HD cameras. Along with the software control update, the Mini Pro builds on the Mini with features such as live stream data rate and status information, a built-in hardware encoder, simultaneous recording to USB drives, drive hot swapping with the Blackmagic MultiDock, added record and stream buttons, stream caching, a timecode generator, program preview multiview, tally support, and support for Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K and 4K to utilize as your broadcast sources.

    Thanks for the informative video. One question: do you know if there is an inherent latency built into the ATEM Mini Pro? And either way, what are some of the best practices that you use with the Mini Pro to ensure the shortest latency / lag? And with those practices, what has been your lowest latency time? I'm thinking about buying this product but am hoping to do so in order to get as close to a LIVE feed as possible on CZcams. Thank you.

    So talking with Blackmagic support I've found this to be a bit disturbing.
    Whenever the media is removed from the ATEM Mini xxx the drive is still mounted.
    Meaning the data could possibly become corrupt or even damage the drive. I haven't
    used the unit long enough to determine that this could be a problem but I'm sure it would be.
    I've only been in the computer business for 30 years but I do see this as a problem.

    so if someone could help clarify for me. Does the minipro allow streaming to CZcams by itself, or does it still require a computer for its network connection? Can a user simply connect it to an internet connection then enter the stream key to connect and then stream?

    • @gcavy1

      I want to clarify my question. I know you need a computer connected to setup the ATEM Mini Pro and make changes to the settings, cameras etc. But once its setup, can I stream without a computer connected? (just the ATEM, cameras, ethernet connection, monitor, power?) Going to use this for a house of worship, and was hoping to not buy a dedicated laptop to go with it.
      thanks!

    What is the longest distance you can have for an HDMI cable, to control these cameras? Are you able to convert to SDI, and still control? I haven't been able to find much information regarding this.

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety +1

      HDMI can only go 50ft at most without being boosted, but I don't know if I would I trust it at this distance. You should be able to control your cameras as long as you are getting a video signal. You can't convert to SDI...this was one of the first things I tried.

    • @albaprime

      1SourceVideo why couldn’t you convert to SDI? What was your setup to try this?

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety

      @@albaprime Let me rephrase that. Of course you can convert to sdi and get video signals. I had my pocket camera, converted it to SDI, then converted back to HDMI at the ATEM. While I still got my video signal just fine, I was unable to make changes to my camera from the Software control or get tally, etc.

    • @albaprime
      @albaprime Před 4 lety

      1SourceVideo Okay. Perhaps this product wasn’t designed for tally and talkback since it’s targeted at the consumer/prosumer market? I didn’t think that camera control commands could be transmitted down HDMI. Also, data is flowing from the camera to the switcher in one direction anyway right?

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety

    Looks like a great product. However, I'm a little confused on the Ethernet/WiFi portion. So, is this unit able to directly connect to a router via Ethernet, or does it have to get routed through a computer? And if it does have to go through a computer, is the computer just giving the unit internet via WiFi direct? And if that's the case, is there any loss in quality/delay in having to do that? Thank-you.

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety

      The Pro can stream directly to your destination without being connected to a computer. If you do connect your switcher to a computer the Pro can share the computer's internet connection. This can be either a wired connection or the computer's wifi. A wired connection (instead of wifi) for streaming is always ideal!

      Nope! Thats the beauty of the ATEM Mini Pro. Unlike the regular ATEM Mini, it has a built-in encoder that does all the heavy lifting. You can actually use the ATEM Mini Pro and stream to the web without a computer at all.

      @triumphantlifechristianchurch Před 3 lety

      @@1SourceVideo Great thanks for answering that question. Now this brings me to another question. Don't we need a computer to access the controls to send the stream to youtube or facebook? I thought we needed to connect this via LAN line so we can access that. Also, is the blackmagic ATEM mini Pro encoder reliable? I've heard that the RESI Ray encoder is one of the best but it costs a lot of money. Can you shed some light on that? Thanks team really appreciate the time.

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 3 lety +1

      @@triumphantlifechristianchurch Yes the ATEM encoder is incredibly reliable. To adjust all of the setting of the ATEM Mini Pro you will need to connect it to a computer. This can be done by connecting your comp to the USB C port or by using the ethernet. If you use ethernet, you can connect the ATEM Mini Pro directly to your computer and share your computer's wifi....or you can create a network using a cheap ethernet switch. If you need help with this, I can help walk you through this process.
