    Thank you for this usefull tutorial!. I'm from Argentina. I recently purchase an Atem Mini. I couldn't make de DVE Push and Squeeze transitions work. Neither the buttons in the device nor the button in de Control Software respond. When I press them in the device they blink twice and do nothing. When I click de DVE Button in the sofware It doesn't turn yellow like the other buttons. It looks like my device doesn't support the function. Could it be possible or I have something missconfigured? I have a routing question. Let's say I'm bringing in someone for a podcast on video via an HDMI output from a computer into the ATEM Mini. Also, I have a separate input via another HDMI to show video. How could I show that video back to the remote guest? The USB-C in theory is the way to go cause it can be set up as the video "webcam" input back to the remote guest( let's say on Skype). I don't seem to be able to find a way to split that USB-C output, so I'd have to, I think, have the instance of Skype on the same PC as the ATEM software(cause of the USB-C) AND use the same PC for OBS to a Facebook live stream or whatever. Is this correct? Is there another way to go? I hope this made sense, and thanks for any advice.

    So talking with Blackmagic support I've found this to be a bit disturbing.
    Whenever the media is removed from the ATEM Mini xxx the drive is still mounted.
    Meaning the data could possibly become corrupt or even damage the drive. I haven't
    used the unit long enough to determine that this could be a problem but I'm sure it would be.
    I've only been in the computer business for 30 years but I do see this as a problem.

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety

      @@1SourceVideo I wouldn't say "any mic" unless the ATEM provides phantom power via 3.5 jack. Your best bet is to run your high end mics through your camera's xlr inputs which travel along with video through hdmi to the switcher. Or if you're needing more than 2 mics, add an audio mixer before going into the cam.

      @1SourceVideo  Před 4 lety +2

      If you aren't using the "HDMI Out" to send to a streaming device, then you can change it to output your preview source. Aside from that, you would have to purchase a quad multiview that supports HDMI inputs, run your cameras to that device first, and then to the Mini.

    Alright, so here's the question I cant find the answer to anywhere. Is the connection to the PC bidirectional? or maybe a better question is can run an entire Zoom Meeting using just 1 PC? I spend a lot of time on Zoom doing training seminars and other presentations often using Power Point and Video Files. Would I need to run PPT on single PC and Bring it in through and HDMI input with my camera on another input and then send it over to my Zoom Meeting on a 2nd PC through USB as a Webcam source or could I somehow pull all of this off on a single PC? My guts are telling me that what I'm asking will require 2 PCs but I'd love a definitive answer. Thanks!

    • @1SourceVideo
      @1SourceVideo  Před 3 lety

      2 PCs is an easy way out but if you use OBS or a similar program you should be able to do everything with 1 computer. You can do a window capture on the powerpoint and you can bring media files directly into obs and play them as well. You'll output from OBS as a "virtual camera" which is basically a webcam source. In zoom you'll select the virtual cam as your video source in the settings.

      Make sure you have the most recent ATEM Switchers update from www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/atem-live-production-switchers
      The ATEM Software Control should detect your Mini automatically when connected to same network via ethernet. It should also detect it automatically when connected to your computer with the USB. If you need to adjust the network settings of your ATEM mini, connect it to your computer via USB and open the "ATEM Setup" application.

      There are AFV (audio follow video) buttons above every channel on the Mini's surface. If you have these selected, then the audio will follow your cuts....and yes, you can connect microphones directly to audio input, but the mini does not provide any type of phantom power.

    So far, the ATEM Mini is nothing more than a mere, expensive paperweight. I’ve spent many, many hours watching tutorial videos trying to mate my supposed V-logging video camera to the Mini and then the Mini to Windows OBS, then the computer to a wide screen TV. When I bought the Mini, I thought I could display different views of a demonstration to a crowd of people and record the video using OBS to post later to CZcams. I was wrong so far. So an expensive lesson to me.

      In case someone is still wondering, I think you can open the settings for audio and set the input for a particular mic to "line" not "mic" if you want to use the output from an audio mixer board. A "mic" input signal would come in too loud.
