  • Taken from a show celebrating the 40th year of Network Ten, this segment looks at a number the game shows which aired over the 4 decades. Of particular interest is some very early footage of the original "The Price Is Right", in B&W and hosted by Garry Meadows, Larry Emdur's first game show foray with the short-lived "Family Double Dare" and the grand-daddy show of them all, "Blankety Blanks" (Match Game) hosted by the legendary Graham Kennedy.

I actually kinda like the logo for the 1970s "Price" -- Reg Grundy evidently didn't know how to properly enlarge the dollar sign, but I like the uniqueness of it and the show as a whole. (I wouldn't mind seeing a full episode of said version, though.)

1:32 - The Australian version of Greed! :D
It's too bad we didn't get to see any full episodes since there aren't any on CZcams. :(
I just feel a little disappointed...

    Where can I find a
full episode of the 1973-74 version of the price is right? I have searched and the only thing I found is a short clip of that same episode. If anybody knows where I can find
    one please tell me.

Plus it appears there was a version of "Let's Make a Deal", based off the 1990 US version.

Ah, "Casino 10", perhaps best known for its wheel going crazy on one occasion. And way to slip in the 0-10 logo of the time, guys!
Also, the "original" version of "The Price is Right" from 1973--this was actually the first version of the "modern" format, and it debuted only months after "The New Price is Right" debuted on CBS. And speaking of "The New Price is Right", the American version was still using that particular title when the Aussie version debuted (it debuted on the 5th of February, IIRC). And based on that podium, it looks as though the Showcases from that version were valued at less than $10,000, which I find strange, since I found a 1974 Aussie newspaper ad that said contestants could win up to $200,000.

Here's the ad, just for the record.
Oh, and "Blankety Blanks" aired at 7.00 pm, not 5.30 pm (and it aired from 1977 to 1978, as well).
And I'm sure Larry Emdur would like to forget about the time he hosted "Family Double Dare" (which would be much more successful in the United States).

Also, it's sponsored by McDonalds because they want to see one of the families walk away in a brand new car!!!!!!!!!!
