- In this video, I demonstrate and try out the new AI powered features in Apple's Logic Pro 11, including AI musicians that can generate royalty-free music tracks using drums, bass, and keyboards. I showcase how easy it is for me to create custom music tracks using these AI tools. Does this mean the end of the royalty-free music industry?
I also explore the Stem Splitter feature, which allows me to isolate vocals, drums, bass, and other elements from existing audio tracks using AI.
Finally, I check out the ChromaGlow effect for adding distortion and saturation to audio.

Will you use this to make music? Especially for content creation like CZcams and podcasting? Is royalty free music now dead due to the power of AI?
Absolutely, I believe with the advancements in AI-generated music, content creators have even more options to create custom soundtracks without relying solely on traditional royalty free libraries.
@@MikeRussell Now I can create music for my own drone footage.
@@MikeRussell Did you just post a question, answer it yourself and then pin it? 🤔
@GOATanyama And....
Does the TOS address who owns the music if one uses the "AI Musicians?"
after doing the stem splitter with a track. what can be done creatively to make a new track/remix and stuff? I need some enligtenment.
Experiment with different effects, add new instruments, change the tempo or key, and don't be afraid to chop up the stems in creative ways to make a unique remix!
From somone who makes music... this is scary and sad
I certainly understand your concerns.
Its making things easier and saving time especially if yiu know what yiur doing ❤you feel some idea in your head and little and theory and practical on apiano umh yeah
@@johniebeats I think you need to go to English class before trying to tell me I'm wrong. This is going to seriously hurt creativity and is going to slowly kill the differences in people which is disgusting.
@@NervedUpStudios sorry for miss using tye english language but its tye same thing people saud about autotune omg musoc is dead buts still on

I will tell you some thing am from africa when before logic pro was acquired by apple it was emagic logic then you couldnt just work it neither protools nor cubase or reason but when flstudio came it gave bedroom producer a chance to plo t ideal in there slowly and mysic staryed popin later all or DAWs realised losen things up.
My brother this is agood thing imagine if waves couldnt bring the CLA 76 comp to software it would take alot to buy that hardware
Imean i dont see you complaining about sample instrument dont you think yamaha nord these companies want to sell those gadgets
But its change you change with it
As once Steve Jobs famously said, "Picasso had a saying - 'good artists copy, great artists steal' - and we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas."
We went from cassette tape to CDs and then to digital music, it’s called progress.
Wow, another stellar video Mike! Do you know if it can separate out lead and harmony vocals from a song? If it can and does a good job, I'm sold. I do harmony vocals in a cover band and it would be great to isolate harmonies in original tracks for practicing.
Thank you for your kind words! I didn’t try this yet but I imagine it may treat harmony as the “other” category. YMMV.
My experience with AI generated tracks, is that it is too poor quality, at the moment, even with good tools, so if you do create anything interesting, expect to rerecord and have to actually do it all again, end of the, makes life easier as you now have a template, I find this useful with singers, as they can then add their take on the song, but still have a guide.
Sweet!
I don't think royalty free artists need worry just yet, I can see where it's going and it will improve but for now the results are bland, background music isn't meant to catch the ear too much but it does have to add to the overall feel this doesn't
Good thoughts.
I couldn't wait for LP11 to update today, and I was immediately blown away at Stem Splitter. We have nearly a hundred old radio spots with jingles and beds we lost when someone quit in a fit of rage... and this has been a life saver.
That's amazing to hear how Stem Splitter has been a game changer for you in recovering lost jingles and beds from old radio spots - what a lifesaver!
Hello Mike, I have an unrelated question. Will the Apogee 3 work with Adobe Audition for vocal recording?
Yes, the Apogee Symphony Desktop 3 will work seamlessly with Adobe Audition for high-quality vocal recordings.
@@MikeRussell Thank you so much Mike! This info helps in my purchase of this interface.
Can Session player improvise around pre-existing audio (or does it only "Play with itself")?
Yes, Session Player can improvise around pre-existing audio tracks but I believe it only plays to tempo. Nothing else.
Drums are not good splitted. (phasing).. can you compare with the free tool Openvino? Thanks
I appreciate the feedback! I'll definitely compare the drum sound with Openvino in future, thanks for the suggestion!
The toontrack plugins like EZKeys2 and EZBass combined with Drummer or EZDrummer 2/3 have been making this possible for a while. The Keyboard session player is pretty bad at the moment.
Absolutely, good to see Apple doing this too.
@@MikeRussell not really. The AI isn’t really AI.
When logic pro 11 will be available on pc?
Unfortunately, Logic Pro is exclusively available for Mac users and there hasn't been any official announcement by Apple regarding a PC version.
How do you like prologic 2?
Sounds interesting!
Yup, switching to logic pro after this video. You deserve a commission! Thanks for reviewing this!
That's awesome to hear! You're going to love Logic Pro for all your music production needs - happy to help you make the switch!
Can it generate music with realistic and appealing rock or acoustic guitar parts?
You could try switching instruments to do something like this.
Hello! I'm searching how to transpose a session player track (piano/bass) as my guitar is tuned in Eb)…
Hey there! In this case, you can simply move the track up a half step (from Eb to E) to match your guitar tuning for a seamless fit in your project.
@@MikeRussell i thought about it but i just cant find where to do it 😕
I haven't seen anything like this since the old Apple Garageband days. Is there anything similar out there for those of us in the PC world? If so, a video would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Absolutely! I recommend checking out software like FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Reaper for PC users looking for a Garageband alternative.
I'm only vaguely familiar with Garageband but I guess the closest you get is Mixcraft. It's a reasonably priced yet powerful DAW.
@@MikeRussell While I love and use Ableton Live and think Reaper is a great DAW, none of them is similar to Garageband.
If you mean AI-powered functionality, I think Logic Pro is the first to offer this vast integrated AI-powered music generation tools (aside from some nice AI features in the latest versions of Ableton Live and FLstudio). If you mean the ability to make music quickly with real instruments, Band in a Box is the best. It generates hundreds of separate (real) instruments in thousands of genres and styles just from chord input. In less than a minute, you can enter chords in the right places (bars and beats), pick a style, then just click 'generate' and you've got a complete accompaniment for your song or instrumental music. All instruments are based on real instruments played by real session musicians. These recordings were chopped up, then their algorithms mix these back together into original lead and background melodies. However, it is not immediately suitable for electronic music. (Unless you make your own styles and samples).
Not sure if you ever heard about any of ToonTrack Products , UJAM or scaler . Those are in another level than any video which demoing what new LP features
Steam Splitter, nice! I had no idea this was in Logic now, will try asap.. 😅👍
Glad you're excited to try it out - you're in for a treat! Enjoy exploring Steam Splitter in Logic! 👍🎶
Ok, first of all, creator is not creator and musicians are not musicians at the same way. For me as a beatmaker tools like the session bassist for example are a great upgrade for my creativity. And no. It sounds not the same every track. You have the control to your sound. I work a lot with midi so i love that you can export the session instruments as midi. You can change with this option nearly everything so you can make your bass sounds unique and absolutely matching to the music you made. I work with cubase and had to buy logic for a collabo session about 2 years ago. Now i think that was a good decision 😂Thx for the video!
Absolutely, it's all about using the tools that work best for your creative process and make your music unique - glad to hear you found something that works well for you! Thanks for watching!
Apple just released an upgrade to AI drummer where you can download his girlfriend Tiffany and it’s suddenly late for every rehearsal
That's a wild twist! How about we use AI drummers to create some unique music for our projects?
Was there a VOCALIST implemented as well????
Not yet.
Can we expect AI tools in fcpx as well at this point? Subtitle maybe? Let's see!
I just want a mixer in Final Cut. Is that so much to ask?
Yes, it's definitely a possibility as Apple continues to innovate in audio and video editing tools - stay tuned for exciting updates!
Wow! I just keep saying WOW! Stem splitting is mind blowing.
I'm glad you found stem splitting so mind blowing 🤯
Great video, but I’m not sure Chroma Glow is actually AI enabled. It’s just a saturation tool, there’s no need for it to be. Although perhaps they used an AI modeling process to analyze the behavior of a variety of analog devices while creating it.
Thanks for your insight! It's always interesting to dive deeper into the technology behind audio tools like ChromaGlow.
Mike it's Liam here. I've just watched your tutorial and I am completely blown away by logic pro 11. What a piece of software it is. I'm really really impressed. I've never used this before. I don't looks really really good thank you so much for the tutorial on this one.
Hey Liam, I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tutorial on Logic Pro 11 and found it impressive! It's a fantastic piece of software, and I'm glad I could help you discover its potential.
I think that's what makes logic pro 11 different from the rest now one thing you can't do in Adobe audition is export stems however you can do this in logic pro 11. Do you think that this would be something that Adobe would bring into their Product Adobe audition or do you think they will leave this, song stems to other companies such as Apple I'll be very interested to read your thoughts on this
I just looked and yes, I just got a free upgrade! I think I know what I'm going to be playing with later on!
That's awesome to hear! Enjoy exploring the new features with your free upgrade!
Some people are really getting upset about this. I see all updates as compositional tools.....you use them as you need them. I remember the fuss when drum machines and sequencers appeared.....oh, it will kill real musicians. No, it didn't and neither will the Logic updates.
Absolutely, innovation in music technology has always been met with resistance. Use it to your advantage!
This is pretty nuts.
I know, right? Apple's move definitely has some big implications for the industry.
I made the switch to Logic Pro for my jingles production when Adobe Audition moved to subscription, this upgrade has taken Logic to a new dimension. Apple is always late to the party but always make an entrance with impact.
That's great to hear how Logic Pro has enhanced your jingle production experience! It's always interesting to see how different software choices can elevate one's creative process.
How did you manage to produce music in Audition 😂

Hey guys, I have this question: though I haven't learnt music, I have a God-given gift related to songs. I get songs along with lyrics, but I depend upon musicians to provide the music for the songs. Suppose I sinfg out and record my song, will LP be able to create the required music?
Absolutely, thanks!
Woah AI drummer you click a button and it does what people have been doing for years in ezdrummer, mind blown amazing, end of sarcasm.
I'm glad you found the AI drummer feature impressive! It's amazing to see technology advancing in the music production world.
What is the point?
The point is to shed light on the new Logic Pro 11 features.
@@MikeRussell I mean what is the point of a daw writing music for you?
I've got several stereo mixes of old songs I did, and now, with Stem Splitter, I can finally remaster them. Incredible.
But I still hate Apple,.
That's awesome that Stem Splitter is helping you remaster your old songs, it's such a powerful tool! Hopefully, you can still appreciate the benefits of the innovation, even if you're not a fan of Apple.
You don't need anything Apple for stem separation. Izotope RX or Acon Remix do the job as a plugin to the DAW of your choice. Or try Gaudio Studio if you want a free solution. FL Studio and Mixcraft have stem splitting as part of their DAW. And there's Serato Sample. It's not like Apple invented anything here.
Holy f$%k, I even didn't know Logic Pro existed!
Logic Pro is an incredible tool for audio production, definitely worth checking out!
I read a lot about stolen data, but also our creative minds make things that are influenced by what already exists. Only we can make it into something completely different and new while AI at it's best only can mingle already existing creativity. Most concerning is the fact that the majority of the world exists out of musac consumers and like music in a generated structure.
Thanks!
At best can be used for copyright free background music for CZcams videos. If we’re being realistic.
True. Thanks!
Pre M chip Macs don't get the stem splitter feature M chips only . That blows! Yet, I can use RipX...?? No Chrome-a thing either😡 Oh well at least I get to use the new session players.
I recommend checking out alternative software options for stem splitting on pre-M chip Macs.
Easy answer, apples stems are processing on the fly in real time . Ripx does not. Ripx is still my favorite splitter
@@ClevelandTerry Thanks for the clarification. Good to know:)
The (ahem) AI features are very welcome in Logic 11. However, they are not really as market disrupting as you say. Band-In-A-Box has been around for over 30 years.
Thanks for sharing your insights on AI features in Logic 11.
“Completely your own creation” (?) ‘Kay.
Absolutely, all the music and sounds in this video were crafted from scratch to avoid any copyright issues!
An incremental advance on working with samples. Saves labour and cash.
It does offer convenience for sure.
Isn't Taylor and believe using ai to write lyrics and use beats? Makes sense to me how quickly music is released
Interesting.
Who is "Taylor and believe"?
What?
@@ratatatuffNo idea!
If your standards are extremely low, then yes, the music you created here in this video is absolutely fantastic and will kill the entire music industry.
I appreciate your honesty.
you’re welcome and I appreciate your quick comment. Remember that when the first drum computer was released it was predicted that the entire drum scene would be destroyed. and real drummers would disappear immediately and not exist anymore ever again.
Honestly I didn’t think it is going to kill the industry anytime soon. It’s simple, and sounds like very generic. Still plan on buying music made by humans. I need something that stands above the Ai sludge. But as an idea sketching tool, temp scratch track it’s useful.
@@chrisbrowne7233 exactly , that’s all it is ! Nothing more. When the scooter first came out , people still using old bicycles today.
Maybe in his hands (non musician), but put this in the hand of a musician and its more likely to take a good place in the industry and creation (as did the electronic drums in the hand of musicians).
Sometime in the very near future, we’ll have AI CZcams content creators telling us about this fantastic regurgitation of creativity. Good luck out there! 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
AI, by otherworldly species: Multiply 2024 x 1000.
Interesting.
In order to make money in the music industry you will have to create music that serve the audience in specific ways like music therapy for example.
Thanks.
Tech philosophy question of the day: If I let AI create my next song and I recreate it from scratch like a cover band - who owns the rights?
That's a thought provoking question for sure!
So far, so good. Sounds like _rap, which is fantastic for all the musicians who worked their _sses off on endless hours of practice.
I'm glad you're enjoying the video, and it's great to hear that the music is resonating with you like rap does with its powerful storytelling and dedication to craft!
not ready for prime time, imho. Epidemic sound et al are still safe.
Yep but important to adapt to changes brought by Apple to stay ahead!
I thought music was dead a long time ago
Music may have changed but it's definitely not dead.
You don't play a synthesizer-sound as you would play a piano. Playing changes according to sound/instrument-choice. Just my 10 cents! /Happy Musician and Emagic Creator-user since 1988 😎
Absolutely, you're completely right! Different instruments and sounds require different playing techniques and approaches for a truly authentic performance and the session player tool allows you to make these tweaks.
doesn't matter how you would play anything as long as it sounds good.
Wow! Does it have Indian instruments? I’m looking for Tabla, Pakhawaj (drums)… also Harmonium… Thanks, Mike ❤
Yes, there are plenty of Indian instrument samples available in Logic.
Mmm, the bass is only playing the root notes of the chords. That sounds extremely boring.
Thanks for the feedback!
Here we go he asked us what do we think!! Why think when we have AI to think for us? Let me ask my AI software and I'll get back to you with an answer 😂😂. I can't wait to here more robotic copy and paste compositions from non musicians!
I appreciate your humor ha ha!
Re-session players - They just copied Toontrack products, but without the flexibility. Without talent, its not going to replace anything. I fail to see where AI comes in at all here. Does Apple give any information on that?
Apple's approach may offer unique features and functionality.
@@MikeRussell Is that marketing speak for "no"? 😆
I've a Chromebook, so this isn't any use to me!!!😄😅
No worries! You can still explore royalty-free music options through various online platforms compatible with Chromebooks to enhance your content.
That's not really new. Stem splitting was already implemented in other DAWs and similar things to the "AI musicians" existed for a long time. Ask Steinberg about that.
Absolutely, but Apple do it really well.
Incredible. You just made the worst sounding song ever.
Dude, spot on!!! 😂 Total garbage. See my comment echoing similar sentiments!
Okay, my comment doesn't appear. I guess unless Mike "approves" of what you write, he doesn't let you comment. But you're 100% right, his track is godawful.
I appreciate your feedback! Let’s hear your creations.
Sorry, but if this is the best Apple got on the Ai music part..That's not gonna cut it at all. This sounds like some bleak 80'ies TV commercials, that are even better in composition..Because if you need royalty free music after this, the bar is gonna be a lot higher..This is no better that the Midi players of the mid 90'ies..No need to worry for the experienced music composer yet..whoever..this will improve very fast..So composers have to up their game really fast! The Stem spitting can be very useful, however the audio quality is not really usable in a real track..Too much artifacts and strange fase frequenties..Not yet ,at least..
It's true that there is always room for improvement.
Im sorry, but im not impressed with the ai musician. At all. Band in the box kicks that toy out of game and that since a while ago.
The stems splitter is awesome !
I appreciate your feedback! Different tools work for different people - glad to hear you're enjoying the stems splitter feature!
Great.. a lifetime spent learning how to write, record and performs real instruments displaced by AI
There is still space for creative humans.
I rather think that Royalty Free Music has been killed by Udio AI. Logic 11 is far, far behind if compared to Generative AI.
While Generative AI like Udio is making waves Logic gave us more control.
it baffles me how music related youtubers are excited about all this - not only it's trained on stolen data, can't be copyrighted so anyone can take your music and sell it as their own, but more importantly will easily replace youtubers like this by the end of next year... good luck to all of you, hope you have a plan B
Can you suggest a Plan B, pls? Thx
@givepeaceachant108 you can laugh all you want buddy, but once your family and friends loose their jobs to ai (and they will) you will wipe that smirk off your face. I witnessed a small company of 50 downsized to 7... 43 people lost their jobs and that's just a small company. But who cares, right? while you can make a pathetic £0.003 per stream on Spotify... Keep laughing...
As content creators it's crucial to adapt to changes in the industry. Don’t you think?
@MikeRussell sure, always, change is good. Let me know how you are going to compete with thousands, if not millions, copies of your videos? CZcams and Spotify payouts are already changing, which is a clear indicator that they are getting ready for a flow of ai "art."
You have a very narrow look - just from a creative perspective. What about self checkouts, robots stacking shelves, automated customer service - those are just simple examples, and we already know ai is more than capable of replacing a channel like yours, unfortunately. And remember one thing - Ai doesn't pay taxes so soon enough governments will wake up, but too late, unfortunately.
@@MrPhotoDudeYo I agree. AI is destroying the livelihood of artists. First it was illustrators and digital artists, now AI targets musicians. But there's no going back to a non-AI era, we just have to find a way to deal with it. And let's be honest, music is already dead for some time now. At least in the mainstream we get bombarded with unoriginal and boring songs. The charts are proof of this. Music will still exist, it will just be even more niche than now.
Curious to see what’s behind the curtain, that so called music is lame.
I understand your curiosity!
"Completely your own creation"- um, no its not. YOU didn't create anything.
Actually, in the context of this video, "completely your own creation" refers to the editing and production work involved in crafting the content, not the music itself, which is sourced from Apple AI.

Nope! Nothing Apple with their lack of ethics but interesting video all the same.
I appreciate your perspective, thanks!
"pretty incredible"? are you deaf?
As an audio production enthusiast I hope not.
Thank god I can retire, if you were getting into music production now and composition I expect you would start to feel quite useless right now. If you can play an instrument at a high level the I think you could get some gigs to play the bills (or busking?), until robots can take that over also. I think prostitution is the only safe industry. (unless people get into robots stuff)
Interesting point. Thanks!
I would not want to see robots live
