You know styles make fights and its the same scenario where McGregor got his easiest lw fight without even being ranked at lw in Eddie alvarez when khabib Tony Justin Edson even Kevin Lee wouldve been harder challenges for him, and all were top lw back then.
Thats why rankings (if respected) have a direct impact on being able to reach the top or not. But lets face it, rankings is just another tool to play with the matchmakings and have the fighter you want where you need him.
Just another reason why the business is killing the sport. It would sell a lot less but I would respect it way more if the fighters were legit champs.
After all, by definition, champion means "the best among all competitors" and its kind of hard to pretend beying the best among all when you skipped the line and havent fought most of the competition.

Cowboy was stopped in the first round of his previous fight & in the 2nd round in the fight before that. Last night seals 3 fight loss streak. I don't consider this win a big statement when Conor beat a guy on the down slide of his career who last his last 2 fights in a combined 3 rounds or less.
