It's normal that the singers France sends to Eurovision sing in French. It's unimaginable that we should send someone who sings in English, because they represent our country. It's our language, we find it beautiful, and it's considered one of the most beautiful languages in the world. Indeed, behind the traditional love story, in fact he's truly dealing with what France is today, becoming closer to the extreme-right wing by the day and that has been the case for almost two decades. He deals with the rejection he knows, being of Arabic origin, whereas our Republic is / was perceived as something that guaranteed equality. It is truly a very deep song.
The whole song also deals with his career as a singer, meeting his audience, wondering if his success is somehow justified. It's also an appeal, then. It also deals with the fact that whatever France does, that country is systematically evicted from the Eurovision: "Can't you hear the pain in my words?"
There are just so many layers in this song, plus the great voice, that it is indeed a great song.

Slimane is hugely popular in France. He's been a super star for years and years. His voice is impressive. I saw him live during his "Cupidon tour" and he performed "Mon amour" (three weeks ago). Everybody was singing along and we all got the chills.
He will be ready and trained for the Grand Final because he always sings "Mon Amour" on his live tour. This is an official video but he keeps trying new things on stage to choose the best option for the Eurovision.
We are proud of him and we hear his song on the radio every single day in France!

France won Junior Eurovision twice in a row and came second in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. I believe they have the potential to do well this year and honestly, I want France to win with this song, it's my favourite so far. French is such a beautiful language. Thanks to France and sometimes Italy we, classics lovers feel privileged as we are still able to listen to high-class, quality music that has depth and is rich in colors. It's no wonder that in these days of music industry it's like looking for a needle in the haystack to be able to listen to quality music. Today's Eurovision and general industry is full of horrible ear-irritating, heavily mechanised songs having same repetitive chord progressions. No richness, no soul, no meaning. Music is the food of the soul. Just as our bodies want to have healthy food so too our souls need to avoid junk music. If Eurovision is still a contest appreciating true art and real music then this song undoubtedly should be winner.
