I've accidentally met him at The Whiskey a go go one night. Great guy. Hey drove a U Haul van with his equipment and used a band of 17,18 year old little Metal Heads.
He's highly under rated, that's for sure. I've went back and looked over his back albums and there's a lot of good shit! 1Hes on my playlist now. 💯😎

We all agree that it is not old school Lizzy, but the new album is pretty decent. I will always support METAL and especially 80s metal bands. I can definitely appreciate the bands that are trying new things, reinvent their sound and keeping up with the times. Support these bands because that's all we have and quit bitching and enjoy the music \,,/

I agree with you guys. I love all of Lizzy's albums and that each one has a different style and sound based on what he is feeling at the time. It's not the old Lizzy we are used to but still a good one. I was a little iffy at Master of Disguise when it came out and then it grew on me. This one has started to do the same. Whether people agree or not, just the fact of his voice being incredible and his multiple octives is enough that I will always support them.
That's exactly why it's good it's different and unique and doesn't repeat himself, and I love all of his release's.
@@MG-ze3lf Agreed. Though as Master of disguise is, in my opinion, one the best metal albums ever it is pretty dang difficult top. Even for Lizzy. The only other band that have been able to keep a very high and consistent level, my opinion again, is Elvenking.

im not sure what i think of this. this is the 1st listen, its for sure catchy, but im not sure how i feel about that. like i said this is the 1st time ive listened to the album. im up to run away with me and ive noticed that several songs sound very familiar to me, not like sounding like other lizzy borden stuff, like there are sections of songs that sound like other songs to me. the effect he's using on his vocals is interesting i actually really dig that. think im gonna have to listen to it a few times. its in no way the old Lizzy Borden that alot of the die hard fans want. i just dont know what i make of this. there are some really cool little things i dig and then there isnt a song with real bite to it, the closest is our love is god. like i said gonna have to listen to it a few times. just got to silent night it was cool, but really what the fuck was that on here for. that was a hard left turn

I kind of saw this direction coming considering their last album(while good) seemed sort of appealing to goth angst vibes. This one doesn’t go deeper in that direction but veers into more ballad territory. But hey if I heard somebody listen to this I’d give them way more music taste respect than if they were listening to nu metal. The vocals though are still unmistakably Lizzy Borden awesomeness
Appointment With Death was very more in the metal direction. This album is more in the rock direction

I will support new metal music to keep the genre alive. After almost 10 years without recording I am actually very impressed. We the fans that had listened to the old Borden for long, need to seat down an listen to it with an open mind. I listened to it almost 2 times but, the quality will made me like it. Awesome work!!

I 100% agree. Lizzy has found ways to remain fresh and relevant sounding since his comeback in 2000. He really outdid himself on Deal with the Devil and Appointment with Death, if you looked at him in the 80s you would never think that same guy could pull off such relevant, modern, powerful albums as those. And on this album, I haven't listened to the whole thing yet because I want to buy it and support him, but so far Obsessed with You is going to go down as one of his best, that track could easily find a spot on Deal with the Devil or Appointment with Death and IMO much better than the majority of Master of Disguise. But people who complain that Lizzy is sounding radio-friendly and blah blah blah apparently skipped out on Visual Lies. And Master of Disguise. And Deal with the Devil...
There are great melodies on this album,just misses that punch from older albums.but his voice is brilliant as always!

I love the vocal melodies and performance here, but they really should have hired session musicians for this, especially some young and hungry guitarist with great chops (like Judas Priest did with Faulkner) or maybe even some formidable guitar veterans like Carlos Cavazo and Warren DeMartini who don't seem to have gigs at the moment... This album screams "find me a a supergroup" where the foundations of the songs are actually good but there's lots of room for improvement... I hope this is the beginning of a comeback, though...
Oh snap. I thought u were starting to speak nonsense until you mentioned Richie Faulkner. Your right. And God dam. You mentioned Carlos Cavazo. Carlos was great. He wasn't an MIT graduate but he was perfect for the music Quiet Riot was putting out. Alot of times bookworms suck and a guy that plays with heart is the right choice.
LIizzy Borden is God and this album is not their best,even it could be the best one and is perfect to visit Benidorm and intimate or catch some girls up!!!! Yeah with Lizzy Borden all seems great again!!!! Hahaha ...Hahaha.Seriosly I think I have all of his 80s stuff like Visual Lies and Master Of Disguise and Deal With The Devil plus Apointment With Death too,bit I don't have money right buy mor Metal CDs including this My Midnight Things

If you listen to it as a fan of Visual Lies oder Menace to society, this is a album hard to get along with. If you listen to it "accidentaly", it is s great, a flowing, a melodic album. Great (again unusual) vocals and vocal lines. The atmosphere is deep and varied.Yes, the album is catchy; but I am fine with that. My problem is the riffing and drumming, that are more alternative/indierock-style than metal. The old Lizzy style died after "Deal with the devil"; but hey ... life changes, bands chance.
I am sure this album will get Lizzy a lot of young fans, that do not know the early albums; he deserves that.
Agree with what you said about it sounding more alternative and indie rock then metal. Still not too bad for 11 years out though. The only Lizzy Borden album I own is Master of Disguise so I kind of dig this.
Last song is killer. He needs to keep that MOD vibe going.
A really good album. Liked the reprises, they had a really haunting feel. Run Away with Me, is a good track maybe that could have been a single release instead of The Scar Across My Heart. Waiting in the Wings, was different, but still prefer the original. Unsure what to make of Silent Night. Overall a good album, would like to hear some of the songs in a more stripped down version.

This is the first Lizzy Borden album I've listened to. And I can see why it's not everybody's cup of tea, so to speak, but it's an acquired taste. The first time I listened to Slayer, I didn't dig the music at all, but I was willing to give them a chance and now I'm one of the biggest fans of Slayer ever! I'm just saying that it takes a minute to get a feel for something new and may require more playthroughs to adjust to it and see things from a different perspective. Just give it a couple more tries before you give your final verdict; and if you still don't like it, then that's fine. But understand that Lizzy is trying something new so that he can find something refreshing for both his fans and a new audience. If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, it will become boring and uncreative, also try to give some constructive criticism to help him fine tune a sound that both old and new fans can enjoy.
Not exactly that classic Lizzy Borden sound, but an exceptional, Judas Priest sounding album for sure.

I like it and all but it was a let down. In my opinion, Appointment With Death was a modern day classic. Not too many bands whose heyday was in the 80s can release an album that awesome. This, however, is too watered down

All these electronic sounds are actually annoying to me. I' ll stick with the previews albums. I miss the uplifting hard rock/metal of Lizzy!
What sucks about this album? ONE thing only: The album cover! Fecking ugly, looks like it was done on someones phone app from a snapshot. Just plain bad!
Other than that? This is the best, most comprehensive, most complete, focused piece of work that Lizzy has done since 1989's Master Of Disguise. Anyone with a pair of ears has ALWAYS been able to hear the 70's power rock, and 80's arena rock layers in his work, and this album crosses every line from his EP til today, and blends them all seamlessly into one cohesive, kick ass, ORIGINAL rock album.
If you can't hear beyond the fact that it doesn't sound like yet another piece of post nu-metal swill (Thank you!!!), but rings with the power of one of the guys who influenced all the Korn-ball crap that came (and ripped him off) afterward, then you either need a Miracle Ear, or to gain some taste.
Lizzy has crafted a lush dark love letter to his fans, and the rock world at large - and it is the best rock record I've heard since 2016's "Light" by Veni Domine.
As for the complaints about "Silent Night", it and "Waiting in The Wings" are just BONUS tracks included with many download versions of the album, NOT extensions of the work on display.

Menuda cagada y ya que suena a eso, a intentar emularlo pero con muchisima menos frescura y gancho.
Sorry, aber die Scheibe ist einfach nur flach. Da fehlt jede Ecke oder Kante. Die Scheibe würde höchstwahrscheinlich sogar meine Oma gut finden, weil man dabei so gut einschlafen kann.

THIS isn't actual METAL!! If you want real METAL, than listen to bands like SLAYER, METALLICA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX & I could still go on!
Metal doesn't have to sound like those 4 bands to be metal. All the bands you named are Thrash Metal. Lizzy Borden is considered more Power Metal and Traditional metal.
Metallica used to be good metal. They changed with times too.
But it's on Metal Blade Records so it has to be metal right? Not the Metal Blade Records I grew up with, that's for sure. They'll sign anyone who dresses in black.
What a waste of my money buying this album was. Its the worst album they've ever done. Lightweight commercial crap with absolutely no bite whatsoever. Named after an ax murdress and now an absolute joke. I will never waste my money on this band ever again. Metal Hammer magazine think it's good? They wouldn't know a metal album if it slapped them in the face. Pathetic!
