    It's funny how Suzaku gets so much flak for essentially doing to Lelouch what Lelouch had just done to Villetta in using someone they care about against them, but almost no one complains about Lelouch doing it. Villetta's shooting Ohgi takes much of the sting off what Lelouch did, while Nunnally's complete innocence makes what Suzaku does seem worse.
    Suzaku has really changed. In season 1 he was trying to stop another war from breaking out and restore peace when Britannia had already won, hoping once he ended the resistance to Britannia's control Brittania would change how it treated the Japanese. In season 2 he's actively helping Britannia invade and conquer free nations the way they did to Japan when he was a child, all so he can have complete control of Japan. He's willing to subject the entire world to the same hell Japan has lived under for the last 8 years to free Japan from it.

      @Lanternman2814 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I think the reason the reactions to these two similar actions are so different is because of Suzaku and Lelouch's different moral stances. Suzaku still sees his overall goal as the morally right choice, while Lelouch doesn't really care about morality compared to his own personal wants.

    • @LilienNacht
      @LilienNacht Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@Lanternman2814 i totally agree. the reasons why people hate suzaku is because he is doing these things while coming from the morally high position (which he claims to be). He says he want to do the morally right thing,( he doesnt resort to terrorism to change japan) . thats why he is more crtiticized. Lelouch on the other hand has clearly stated that results matter more than methodes. so he is at least true to his words. So Suzaku is a hyprocrite and people usually hate hypocrites.

    Suzaku gunning for being "Knight of One" finally, _finally_ gives credence to his philosophy of "changing the nation from within". Get power, get Japan, change it for the better _using_ his Britanian rank.
    Now of course, that was _not_ an option in Season 1 (mainly because lets be honest, the Knights of the Round hadn't beem invented by the writers yet in S1), so his pholosophy was shallow and foolish back then... suddenly now, it's validated.

    • @mahpell7173
      @mahpell7173 Před 8 dny

      It doesn't really matter were Rounds invented or not. First season Suzaku was shallow because he didn't have a resolve to act what he wanted, so being someone so big wasn't even in his plans. His objective was not "get power" but "get the person in power listen to him". The death of Euphemia pushed him to the limit, essentially making him as ruthless as Zero, and V.V. gave him vital piece of information, that allowed him to meet with Emperor as an important person and take his chance. Without all things in place, there would be no shot that honorary Britannian will even get an audience with an Emperor, much less becoming a Knight of the Round.

    • @frenchynoob
      @frenchynoob Před 8 dny

      @@mahpell7173 well let's be honest, this _actual_ objective in season 1 is "get killed in combat as redemption"... Euphemia actually _gives him_ the opportunity to really, honestly give the whole "change from within" objective _actual_ validity...

    • @mahpell7173
      @mahpell7173 Před 8 dny

      @@frenchynoob I would say he had two conflicting objectives, one is half-lie spoken aloud, and the other is half-conscious true reason. Every event of the 1st season challenged Suzaku on what he will pursue, and in the end his vengeance for Euphemia outweighs self-hatred, setting him on the final path.

    Just a note on Geass that you might find interesting to think about; all Geass powers are mental based. For instance, you wouldn't find someone who got Geass super-strength or Geass laser-eyes.

    R2 seems to have cut down on the racism.

      Now you mention it, the racism is toned down and the fan service ramped up. Such as the Chinese Confederacy is being treated ok by he Britannia despite the conquering nature of Britannia and like you say Gino and others are not just one note "I HATE THE ELEVENS!"

    Oooh boy, just let me say one thing, this season makes the previous one look sane and normal.
    Edit: I've just thought about something, this arc quickly but effectively shows in my opinion cult dynamics. Todo and Ougi immediately defending zero without a need for him to even say anything in his defense speaks vastly to how the upper ranking cult members lay down their life for their leader.

      Or how a military hierarchy needs to be obeyed if it's to get anything done? Not even considering it is wartime during an open rebellion with guerilla tactics and cell-based organisation going on; they know just how important it is to keep information close at hand and on a need to know basis.

    There's actually a reason there's more fan service this time around if you don't mind a bit of info on it.
    The fan service increased due to Season 2 having its time slot on TV moved earlier when it was airing. If you remember during Season 1, there was explicit nudity throughout the show such as Kallen's breast being exposed which was only really allowed on shows aired later at night (think Cartoon network/Adult swim) but in turn of getting an earlier slot to premiere the episodes, they had to remove that form of content in favor of fanservice scenes such as breast/butt shots.

    Honestly I think Suzaku is such a bum character. He thinks his morals and actions are more just than others but condemns Zero for doing the same. He literally thinks he's right and everyone else is wrong. Which Lelouch does too but at least Lelouch isn't a hypocrite about it.
