  • Ever heard of a Sonker? I hadn’t until now, and I couldn't be more thrilled to dive into this North Carolina gem! There's even a Surry Sonker Trail dedicated to celebrating this one-of-a-kind cobbler, which is definitely going on my travel wishlist. Recipe inspired by the fabulous vintage 1970s community cookbook More Saratoga Secrets, generously donated by Peggy Hardt. Check out the recipe for an amazing Sonker Cobbler below. I can't wait to hear how yours turns out! - RECIPE - Preheat oven to 350° 1/2 c. sugar 2 T. cornstarch 1/2 c. water 4 c. Fruit Whisk cornstarch and water until smooth. Mix with blueberries and sugar. Pour into a 1-1/2 qt. baking dish. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, stirring halfway. Sift together: 1 c. flour 1-1/2 t. baking powder 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 t. salt Gently stir in: 1/2 c. Butter, melted 1/2 c. milk Pour onto bubbling fruit.       4 c. Fruit
      Whisk cornstarch and water until no lumps. Combine with blueberries and sugar. Pour into a 1-1/2 qt. baking dish. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, stirring halfway.

      1/2 t. salt
      Stir in lightly:
      1/2 c. Butter, melted
      1/2 c. milk
      Pour onto hot fruit. Bake at 350° for
      35-40 min., until golden brown.
