It was hard for me to believe in Magidim (angels), but once i started reading his books its hard for me to believe that a "human" wrote that.

You said that the Dutch gave the land back to Portugal as a part of a treaty. While that's true, the Dutches also lost a war against Brazilians, who were furious by their presence and were united against them in a way that rarely happens in Brazil.
By rarely, I mean that freed slaves and natives of South America united with the Portuguese also fought the Dutches.
I hope you find that interesting.

That's the Jewish idea of immortality, to be remembered by the sefer you wrote.

Great lecture. A lot of fascinating historical info. One comment, if I may add it, regarding the dialog version of mesilat yesharim...a large number of his works fall into a 3 fold style of a) short "notes" version, b) standard version, c) conversation/vikuach version. So, I'm not sure that he "scratched" the conversation version. It was probably just part of the publishing selection process (perhaps partially for the reason you referred to). Ultimately, publishers select and edit all the time, due to both monetary consideration and protection of the one whose works they are publishing (and protection of themselves).
