Hello, dear teacher! I'm trying to build an App to prepare the data, run predictive models and plot some dashboards. As you said, it seems simple, but very powerful!
The hardest part right now, for me, is how to prepare the csv before running any model, deleting empty rows, for example. I have the traitment code, but i don't know, yet, how to make it work on the server side. Yes, i'm a beginner :)
let's study! Genial and very didatic video!
Please, don't stop this topic! :(
      Regards from Brazil

@Data Professor can you put together a database monitor using horizontal bar charts displaying data over 5 days.....so essentially query a relational db and display in a table the number of covid19 cases of the top 10 countries vs date (within 5 days).....UI should have a search bar and a filter

I would like to make a shiny app that takes a complex dataset as input. I have to sort it and then make a lot of graphs and tables. The goal is that people without any knowledge of R can use the app and get data processing. Do you have an example of a similar shiny app?
    Thank you!

    • @DataProfessor

Hi David, that's a great initiative. One can use ggplot2 to make such visuals from the input data. The layout can be made into a dashboard via shinydashboard (rstudio.github.io/shinydashboard/). There's a gallery that contains a lot of example apps that may serve as inspiration for making your own at the following URL: shiny.rstudio.com/gallery/
      Hope these ideas helps 😊

    • @DataProfessor
      @DataProfessor  Před 4 lety

Hi Mcnamara, thanks for your comment. Errors can arise from many factors: a missing quotation or comma, misspelling of variable names, misspelled case-sensitive characters of variable or function names, the libraries installed on the computer, the version of the installed library, the version of the R 32-bit or 64-bit, the version of R 3.x.x, the operating system of the computer, the presence or absence of operating system dependencies that some R libraries, etc.
Aside from the error message, there are other information prior to the error. Also need to check the code for any syntax error.
To help solve your error, can you also share your code by pasting it to a public Gist at gist.github.com/ (a GitHub service where you can publicly share codes). Finally share the URL here.

I have no control over the marks that the teacher will give you, but if you improvise and build upon what I’ve shown in the videos I can say you have a good chance of getting a good mark. I’ve already used Shiny to make production quality webserver in my work as a researcher/professor and it is published in a scientific journal, please refer to the webserver and article link here: codes.bio/osfp/ and jcheminf.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13321-016-0185-8 Typically an article has to be refereed by 3 independent researchers who have yo arrive at the same conclusion of stringent acceptance criteria. I wish you best of luck on the assignment and let me know if you need any help. Also please post your code so I can take a look.

This could definitely be used as a starting point for crafting your own project, I'd recommend to build on top of it and see if you can use data that interests you and solves your real life problem (helps to show the impact that your project has).

I am getting a timeout on codes.bio/osfp/ so cannot get to the page you display at 6:44. Is this a regional thing? UK here. Other than that, awesome content with excellent teaching style. Thank you.

I'd suggest to go through a very simple example from start till end, the structure of the video is not good, no clear process flow. thanks for the effort though, keep it up!

Thank you Peter for the feedback. I would like to improve this for future video, do you mean the process flow of this video series or only this particular video? Each video in the 5 part series are self-contained and the difficulty level of each part is progressively increased.
