Auto cut off 6V/12V battery charger

  • Hello friends, today in this video i have shown how to make a simple automatic battery charger circuit for any 6V /12V battery. This circuit needs to be connected between your existing charger and battery. Normally the relay is OFF but when battery voltage increases to the selected voltage the relay energized by the transistor which now disconnect the battery from the charger.
    Parts used :-
    1. Relay 6V or 12V( as the battery to be charged)
    2. Any general purpose NPN transistor
    3. 3.3k resistor
    4. 10K pot
    5. Red led (optional)
    6. Resistor for led

    In the output from the NC pin of the relay there shoul be a diode to prevent the back current from the battery to the relay coil. Rest is ok, well done

    قمت بتنفيذها وهي عملية وذلك بعد معاناة حيث لم يكن لدي ريليه 12 فولت وقمت بفك ريليه 24 فولت وقمت بفك 1000 لفة حتى عملت على 12 فولت ولم يكن لدي نفس الترانزستور لكن قمت بنزع ترانزستورNBN من دارة مستعملة وطبقت الدارة ونجحت أشكرك على هذه الدارة ⚘

    Max charging voltage is 13.8 volts for the 12 Volt AGM SLA Battery.

    Esta muy bien, lo he construido y corta la corriente perfectamente al llegar al voltaje, pero solo tiene un pero, si baja el voltaje de la batería no se rearma automáticamente, hay que reconectar la alimentacion y vuelve a cargar. Igualmente gracias, me ha sido de gran utilidad 😉👍

    If the Transformer is only putting out 12 Volts on the Input to your device and a battery requires 14 - 14.4 Volts when charging, does your device resolve this problem? Do I need to insure 14.4 Volts on the Input to your device? And most AGM SLA Batteries cannot charge above 13.8 Volts, but 14.4 Volts is required to get there. Does your device fix this problem? Should I just set the output to 13.8 and be done with it? Let me know. Thanks.

    Bro, is this circuit turns the phone charger automatically off from charging when a 5v phone charger gets over voltage ? How much values of this transistor and if this transistor not available in my local market so will here can be used another transistor and if can then have to change the others parts values at the same time ? Can I use d882 transistor here ? If can then have to change others parts values at the same time ?

    What is the purpose of the Diode? Is that for the Transistor? Other videos do not show the use of a Diode. The very next Video after yours has two LED's Red-Green and no Diode. Can you explain this? Thanks.

      It absorbs the back EMF voltage produced by the relay's coil when the relay is switching off.
      And the transistor is saved from sudden reverse voltage.

    I have replicated this circuit and still no luck. I get the red LED on for battery charging but no matter what resistance I set on the variable resistor I can not get the relay to switch from NC to NO. PLEASE HELP, I AM GOING CRAZY trying to make this work.

    I constructed a 2nd Device and seems to work OK, but I still have questions. I thought the diode was there to prevent the battery from backfeeding current in the opposite direction. I have a volt meter on the Input side of your device. At one point, I forgot to disconnect from the battery first and instead disconnected my power supply from the wall outlet. The battery fed current through your device and gave me a volt reading on the Input side of your device. Keep in mind that the LED light on your device never goes on when connected to the battery. It only goes on when I manually turn the screw on the 10k Pot counter-clockwise. Your comments please.

    sorry to say you did not show how to adjust 14.8 volt. supply voltage to the circuit should be from a variable power supply or from from 12 volt transformer through bridge rectifier. please kindly explain clearly so that a non electronic person can understand. Your circuit is simple and compact but it should work properly.

    For a 12V Battery, how many volts goes into this device to make it work - 14.4V ? My batteries can take up to 13.8 Volts, but 14.4 Volts is used to charge them.

    I'm feeding 13.96 volts into the device. When I turn the screw on the 10k Pot, I can hear the Relay click inside. I measure 13.96 volts on the Input side. I have 0.00 Volts on the Output. What's wrong? On the Output negative side, it is soldered at the point where the resistor, transistor and (-) Output come together. Is that OK?

    I've tried every one of these auto cut off circuits and none of them work like shown on the video. This one came close but doesn't cut off until 16 volts. Potentiometer had no effect.

    Gostaria que vocês postassem esse vídeo de vocês era ligando a bateria quando ele tá carregado desliga e mostrar também ele acionando quando ela está descarregada que é isso Problema ele não aciona a bateria chega a 87 volts e ele não liga fazer Ligar fácil demais moço coisa mais simples do mundo eu quero ver ligar e quando ela está descarregada não liga de jeito nenhum

      Use 47k pot instead of 10k and 10k in place of 3.3k resistor.
      And use a 48v relay.
