@@friedtofus3705 Lol like we don't see examples of that with men x) Newsflash, every person in society is essentially a carbon copy of everyone else in their self-identified category, with slight differences that make them "unique" lol. If you men think you're standing out as individual one-of-a-kind, break-the-mold trail breakers among a landscape of sheep, you're delusional. @@shelenmarton1061 They still are. Ozark trail Knockoffs at least. They're 15$ but come with the ozark trail embedded into the steel logo, which doesn't honestly look bad imho.
Temu does have factory identical 5-6$ cups, i tried one and it's literally identical to the generation 2 stanley cups (cloudy lid vs clear lid, silicon handle thumb grip vs choppy pure plastic corners)
Actually.. Temu might have had the generation 2 "stanleys" before stanley had the "generation 2 stanleys".. Literally it might be a cup sold in china, resold with a stanley stamp marked up 5$ to 45$ here.
Still a good cup though. You only really need like 2-3x cups and having everything ice cold is worth 5-45$ sometimes.
Could be worth looking into a knock off or going to walmart, holding the 15$ ozark trail in your hands! 15$ isn't bad either, then if you want to get 1-3x stanley dupes for 5-6$ each on temu, you can get 50 cent boots to cover the lead, 1$ for 10 more straws (easier wash + rotations).
Sip coffee in one, soda/iced tea/ lemonade /lemon water / ice water in the other. Third to wash/rotate.
Great deal for 5-15$! But if you're ordering overseas, from temu, get some junk item like 60 cents 12 pack sponges/towels to act as "cushioning".
The meme of things being thrown like gorillas during fedex is real. And having 24 sponges cushino the temu cup inside it's overseas box can be nice.
Sponges can still be decent too, i prefer the yellow/green kitchen style 12 for 60 cent ones over the 1$ for 30 magic eraser foam style pack.
It would make good cushioning, but the magic eraser white sponges style make terrible sponges. They rip and tear easily. And you want kitchen sponges anyways.
Of course it's a cup, you don't really need it and i love the 1$ dollar tree 24 oz mugs as well. Glass is perfect and if you wanted to be super thrift(hobo).
I used to re use mason jars from Classico pasta sauce sometimes.
They seal, they're easy to shake and froth things up like coffee/cappucinos. The problem is there's no grip so they fall out of your hands easily and shatter super easily, potentially causing water damage to computers (home) or glass shards in public (walking).
Otherwise, 20 oz glass mason jar is a 20 oz glass mason jar. Just be sure to soak the lid with soapy hot water for a full day or two to get tomato out.
I'd still recommend just spending 1-5$ on a dollar tree glass mug or temu factory dupe though. Hype is overdone, but it's a good cup and 15$ for 3 felt well worth it for me.
Though i use them regularly as a computer/driving/work/camping /coffee/soda/ice water / right side up travel/ casual use cup.
They have a geniune problem, real or not where they leak if tipped over 45 degrees. Straw is fine.. But some designer flaw made so the silicon cover is a milimeter too high to make it sealproof..
And they probably cheaped out on 10$/lb lead free solder vs 1$ /lb solder to seal the cups. Hence the lead concerns over stanley while hydroflasks are lead free.. it'd probably cost them 2-5 cents a cup to be lead free and use lead free solder or a tin bb..
But lead's cheap for a reason, it's poisonous if it comes in contact with acid/bioavailable.
Capitalism would sell us 2$ cigarettes that caused 40,000$ in lung damages/death if it made a 1$ profit. Sad. Abestos still got used as well. Why lead isn't banned from 80% of lead drinking pipes when pvc exists beyond $$$ is beyond me.

Yup, Thermos is a thermos. They've existed for years. Stanley just put a sippie cup lid and handle on it.
      - At the same time, good luck driving a car taking both hands off the road to unscrew a traditional thermos. XD
      - You might kill someone.
Yeah, it's a basic idea. Thermos + sippie lid + handle.. + fit in cupholder. But it's a dumb idea executed well. Very good computer/camping/ coffee/soda/ice water / upright cup.
Just don't tip it over 45 degrees or crowbar the lead pellet protector at the bottom and lick it. (real lead poisoning chance).
The cup is well designed, the handle seems superglued sturdily on with hidden metal brackets underneath the handle.
But the fact they could make it lead free by using a lead free 1.4$-10$ tin/zinc solder instead of a 1$/lb lead solder is just sad.
Like for the amounts used, it'd literally only cost like 2-5 cents (or less wholesale) to make the cup lead free, material wise anyways.

Ngl, when I saw this I did want one, but only for the practical side of things. I liked the idea of a flask that can keep things cold or hot for a long time, I only ever thought that a flask did one or the other. Also, it's really big, and I like to drink a lot of fluid.
They're so expensive though, it's silly. I soon found that plenty of other brands of the same product existed that were better and _cheaper!_ I went with this totally different brand and spent £17 on a 1.2 litre one that keeps drinks cold for 16 hours, and hot for 12 hours. Still seemed a bit expensive though, but I do enjoy using it.
As for these Stanley cups, forget paying like, £50 for one💀

    • @Notyouraveragename
      @Notyouraveragename Před 3 měsíci

It's probably overhyped but imo i like it. I still got concerned, the lead concerns are real, but it's on the inside exterior of the bottom of the cup.
There's a steel cover for it that's welded on, they use lead solder when they create the vacuum and use a lead pellet to block it + solder i assume.
Using a tin/zinc mixture would be a lead free solution but probably add 2-5 cents a cup. Lead solder is 1$ a lb, tin/zinc solder would be 1.4$-14$ a lb.
But for the tiny ass bb/matchstick amounts used in a cup, you could probably easily fill up 200-500x cups for 2-5 cents a cup with a lead free solder.
That's probably how hydroflask makes lead free cups and it could likely be done in a future generation. If stanley is legitimately corporate dropshipping chinese plant products, it could just be chinese plants doing it for a 2-5 cent profit margin on a $5.02 vs $5.07 cup. Where no one would notice the lead free mark.
For stanley though.. They could probably get more benefit asking them to change or paying to use a lead free solder. They probably do paint work + stamp their logo off a design the chinese factories make though.

      @Notyouraveragename Před 3 měsíci

It's a matchstick / tiny bb amount used to seal up the bottom exterior of the cup, to seal the vacuum. Then solder used.
      - But yeah, i wouldn't drink out of a damaged stanley.
They sell 50 cent silicon covers for the bottom on temu next to 5-6$ dupe knockoffs though.
You can legitimately buy like 18-20 dupes for 70$s with a 30% off 100$ coupon for the same 80-90$ price as 2x branded 40-45$ stanley/hydroflasks.
Usually, knockoffs are legitimately cheaper, Or at least slightly different (like Ozark's trail 15$ cup, with a ozark trail emblazoned upon it).
Stanley legitimately might just be buying cups from the same factory, and just doing branding work with the STANLEY design and more paint jobs. It's all made in china anyways from the same plant.
But i think they could avoid lead problems for 2-5 cents a cup by using a tin/zinc based solder instead of lead.
Like they sell the cups for 45.00$. 2-5 cents to be lead free would not be damaging at all.. But i guess 2-5 cents a cup is 200$-500$ every 10,000 cups..

Normally temu has shittier knockoffs but im starting to wonder if Stanley is just a corporate stamper or if the china just has the same factories.
There's literally carbon identical "knockoff" cups, identical gen 2 "stanley" designs before stanley had gen 2 designs. (Cloudy top vs clear top, silicon handle vs raw plastic).
Even ozark trail has differences on it's 15$ knock brand, with a embossed logo / slightly different mold. 5 below's 5$ plastic knockoff has a plastic looking exterior i've heard to break easier, but it'd be lead free and pretty if people care about fashion over thermos functionality.
Temu's 5-6$ knockoffs are literally carbon identical copies, same body, same handle, and the generation 2 "stanley" design was literally the "knockoff" design before the official cup "copied" the "knockoff"
I wouldn't be surprised if Stanley was literally like the corporate dropshipping equivilent, buy from china, stamp the Stanley logo, mark up 5->45$. It's a good cup, dont' get me wrong.
And people spending 200$ on it? just crazy? I heard about the hype of people spending 200$-800$ on PINK /bedazzled cups.. And ironically.. You can also still order those.. on 1$/hr vs 15$/hr chinese labor for.. 13$. vs 800$.
I hear the glass rhinestones still fall off even on the 800$ glass though. It's just hot glued glass to a cup and it has hygeine/cleaning problems. Smooth is easier to clean, 1000 hot glued edges are safe havens for bacteria and the stones fall out i heard.
