Billy is hands down one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time.

That sounds like the "World Tour of Australia" series, where he played several shows in quite a few towns as wall as the usual big cities.
During the days, he would get on the trike with his TV crew in tow, and collect "local colour" both for the TV show and for each night's performances.
I worked on one of those "series" in Brisbane.
No two shows were alike, but his real party trick was i his story=-telling. He would start a yarn about something he had seen whilst out on teh trikem and a few minutes into it, He would be haranguing a latecomer, or commenting on the theatre decor. This cycle would repeat but, by the end of the show, he would have six or seven stories "in the air , maybe interspersed with a bit of music on the Banjo, or whatever..
The extended finale was finishing ALL of the stories, picking up from where he had dropped off, perhaps an hour before, or more, in order and interspersed with more wise-cracks. Talk about "Zen Comedy". A true master of his craft!!
Billy Connolly is the best story teller. He is a comedic genius. Aussies love Billy, He has graced our shores many many times. I have seen him live & always come away with a sore face from laughing so hard.
Saw him 2 nights in a row back in about 89/90ish. Both shows were hilarious and about the day he had had, SO BOTH WERE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. "So this is Canberra, welcome to f***in' LegoLand!"

Well, my house cupboards are full of redbacks and black house spiders but I have no snakes, so it holds true.
This is absolutely correct up in port Douglas northern Queensland of course you don’t have to worry about the sharks because the crocodiles have cleaned them all out
I’ve always believed that all Australians, male or female and whatever color are bad a$$es. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t have survived childhood with the wildlife in Australia. And that’s coming from an American where we have a few dangerous animals too and know what it means to live around them.❤️🤗🐝

Years ago Robin Williams won a very prestigious award & the custom was that the winner could choose his own presenter & Robin chose Billy Connolly, stating that Billy was the funniest man he ever knew, & the most intelligent. He is in poor health at moment & Australians wish him well.

Billy is one of the best comedians ever and he has a 50+ year career you can check out. Unfortunately had to retire a couple of years ago due to Parkinson’s disease.

Yes, it's a shame but we & his family are grateful for all the good years that Billy has had. I know that doesn't include his childhood which terrible, bless him. He's in Malibu now with a private jetty happily fishing his days away,

A Story that might interest you NEAL A 60 year old grandma Alicea Sorohan risked her life during a camping trip in the remote far north of tropical Queensland state in October 2004.
Then the grandma jumped on the 14-foot crocodile's back and started to gouge the croc's eyes. Risking her life to save a 34 year old friend who was dragged from his tent by the crocodile .
The crocodile released the man then turned on the grandma and almost tore off her arm before her son shot and killed it.🤔🤔😚😚😚 Grandmas are brave out here......lol

I went swimming in Cairns with my ex-husband, in a netted area, so we thought we were safe, but the blue bottles (stingers) tentacles were so long they went through the net & got my ex… he screamed so loud & threw up from the pain.
I told him, I’d pee on him to help the pain, but that just pissed him off, because he thought I was making fun of him when he was suffering so much 😂 oh yeah, he was English, so he didn’t know 😄
Billy is married to an Australian Comedian. After she had there 3 daughters she went back to school and became a Psychologist. She also writes books and she cares for Billy now he is unwell. She knows how stubborn Parkinson’s can make him so she sold their house, told Billy she was moving and did he want to come. She is very good with him.

My favourite comedian of all time. I was brought up watching him. My dad said he remembers hearing me belly laughing in my room watching him. I can recite most of his stuff word for word. Such an amazing wonderful man ❤

Was lucky enough to be walking with a friend by the Avon river in Christchurch, NZ, and who should be walking toward us was Billy Connelly. He stopped and chatted with us for a bit, even had a joke for us. I still have the photo with him. That was back in 1986.
It's great that you can understand him, as many struggle with his strong Scottish accent.
I went to see Billy Connolly years ago. I started laughing as soon as he walked on stage. I kayged so much I was in actual pain by the time he finished. He is an absolute legend💖💖💖
Yep, I live in Australia. I was on a video call with an American warning me about the rattle snakes and cactus spikes in Arizona. Come on, I have at least three types of snakes not 20 feet from my front door that would happily kill you, as well as those ‘annoyed’ spiders. At least the rattle snakes warn you they are there and the cactus doesn’t chase you down like the brown snakes! Want to know why Aussies always seem so chilled about danger, we have to be!

i'll never forget being in the car as a kid and hearing the radio announcer say a woman was bitten on the funnel by a fanny web spider. we lost it, i still laugh at that.

As a kid, I loved chasing crabs around the rocks and tidal rock-pools at Philip Island (Victoria). I'll never forget the time I overturned a big rock to reveal a blue ringed octopus. I was surprised at how tiny it was (their bodies are about the size of a chicken egg). The octopus appeared to be blue-grey, with dull blue circles, but after a few moments those circles glowed brighter than neon lights. It was beautiful to see, but also terrifying.
The danger is in their prettiness for people unfamiliar with them - tourists.
Back in the 1950s, we as kids would play with them and poke them to see the blue rings. It was not until a scuba diver put one in his wetsuit to bring back that we found out what they coul do. We were all warned by our mothers to leave them alone. I believe there are 2-3 bites a each and that there have only been 3 recorded deaths. We do not really consider them dangerous. They are tiny and easy to leave alone.
@@Donizen1 I knew about their bite, and I wasn't about to poke it - octopuses are very good at grabbing. Also, whilst I'd never seen one, I thought it was an amazing little animal that should be respected. I gently lowered the rock and left the immediate area.

I was born in Townsville. So many people swam in the ocean there. There were sharks, stingers - all kinds of biteys. Now they have rock pools separate from the ocean. Back in my day there were some shark nets, and that's all. Many Australians do, in fact, take vinegar when they go to the beach if it is a known place for jellyfish.
We lived most of my life in Darwin and my grandmother went swimming every day with a bottle of vinegar in her beach bag 😂😂

Stringers is a warning for Box Jellyfish, Blue bottles & the infamous Irukandii...Vinegar is supplied on nearly all far north Queensland beaches free to the public. A bottle is right there underneath the warning sign.

When I lived and worked in tropical northern Australia I thought I’d try my luck at the town beach. That was until I saw the sign beware of box jellyfish, sharks and sea snakes. Underneath was a sign saying that crocodiles had also been seen in the local area. Turned around and saw land based sights instead.
I have a mate of mine wo went to Earl Page College back in the day. And apparently they had to go out collecting these fucking spiders. Well, he said that the used to do it with a stick and a container. And the method of capture was you would use the stick to poke the spider until you pissed it off enough for it to jump at you. Then when it jumped, you'd catch it in the container. I was shocked he would actually go out of his way to antagonise the most deadly spider in the world.
Us Aussies are like our animals if you don't piss us off we will be the best of friends but if you do piss us off we'll you can find out for yourself

He is right about the vinegar . The sign says Careful stinger and box jelly fish in the water if stung pour vinegar on the wounds and get to hospital ASAP. I surprised he didn't mention the salt water crocs in the water ...
I promise you that we are not fearless. When my neighbour dropped over he had a hessian bag and a snake stick. He dropped a 7 foot Taipan out of the bag. He had collected it from the rock garden in our front yard.

Love Billy. I had the pleasure of seeing him in Sydney Australia. He is a genius in that he could say a few words and take you back to a skit he already did and make you laugh while he was doing another. It was one of the best times i ever had. And yes being Australian i can relate to this so well.

There's a reason he's considered a national treasure in Scotland. Quite often his rambling stories veer of in a tangent and you never find out how it ends but no one cares because you've laughed all the way through. The big yin just has a funny way of viewing the world and invites us all along for the journey.
When I was young we use to catch funnel webs for fun and put them in an icecream container and put other spiders in there to fight each other,just recently the police were chasing a man in Rockhampton and he jumped into the river and a crocodile killed him

I lived in Australia when I was a kid, everything is really casual. My relatives had an outdoor toilet and they'd say "check the bowl before you sit down" something was waiting to attack you and kill you, black widow waiting to bite your arse or something.
My great grandmother had an outdoor toilet near the woodpile, nobody warned me about the redback spiders on the seat, only the tiger snakes! 😳

We do actually have bottles of vinegar at the beaches located with the warning signs. Also a natural habit to tap your shoes before you put them on to make sure a spider, funnel web or a red back etc has not gone in there overnight or if you have not worn a particular pair of shoes for a few days.

Billy is my number 1 favourite comedian. Seen him twice in concert and never stopped crying with laughter my sides hurt.
I live in Townsville and stingers are a type of jellyfish. I was born and raised in London so can relate to what he is saying. In London my only wildlife worry was a pigeon pooping on me but here while tending my garden and fruit trees I need to be on the lookout for EVERYTHING 🤣🤣🤣
Gotta love Gilly, an all time great storyteller. A mate had her beach house at Mission Beach, or Missing Weeks as we called it. Had to listen to the Surf lifeguards, real important. I remember that 4 mile beach at Port Douglas used to be closed for months due to box jellyfish.

Laughed my head off all true, and me and my 2 brothers and other neighbours kids back in the sixties used to go in the bush when we were bored and poke a stick in the funnel-web spiders holes till they came out chasing us and we’d scream n laugh our heads off.
All these things we grew up with.

I grew up 3hrs South of T/ville (still part of nth Qld), I remember that sign on nearly every beach from far nth Qld back down to Rocky. We NEVER went to any beach (70s - 90s) without taking a 2 litre bottle of vinegar. As for Billy, accent may be Scottie, but we adopted him *_many many_* years ago. I think watching you react to Billy..... absolutely made my day, cheers mate!

The matter how many times I come back to Billy Connolly I start laughing my head off, I remember this routine when he done it here in Australia, still funny and still up there with my all time favourite
Billy is the bomb! My Mum is Scottish, she married my Aussie Dad. She can't swim, even after living here all these years. (She old now). But back when we live in the bush, there was a river. Dad jumped in, with his dog, The Great Big Bad Doberman Pinscher. Dad was his Master. Somehow, I have no bloody way how but Mum with her pale blue skin ended up in the river, she was going down for sure. Dad yelled at Terry, the dog & Terry Pis*ed off & swam about Mum's legs until Dad got to Mum to save her. Bloody hell, ya could write a book about it! LOL. But Terry was not one to mess with, everyone in the town (POP-6,300) knew. And one night, Dad went to the Pub- a town of 6,000+ we had 6 Pubs. The neighbours were meant to be looking after the dog. Mum was probably at Bingo! So the neighbours went looking for Terry, they found him outside the Royal Pub, sitting there waiting for his Master!
WARNING- This is true, we don't put vinegar on the jelly fish no more. You gotta run somewhere, anywhere for a hot shower.

It's only a shark. Why panic as long as you're not the last one out of the water, she'll be right, mate. Just don't annoy most animals and things usually will be OK. You gotta remember we humans tamed this earth. We no longer run from the sabre tooth tigers because we got them all. Most of the big predators' spices are gone. We did that. We all are the dangerous ones.
I've always loved Billy Connolly, saw him live once. He doesn't tell jokes, he tells stories.
As a kid growing up in Sydney you would come across a funnel web spider's hole maybe a couple of times a year. You'd get a stick and tickle the web until the spider emerged. Good clean fun.

We used to play with blue ringed octopus when we were kids. We knew not to pick them up, but we would annoy them to get them to make the blue rings glow. We also have small cone shells that can kill and stone fish as well you. Billy is a legend!
I watched this man at the Perth Convention Centre, I couldn't go to work the next day because my ribs hurt so much.

Great story teller, love how he can drift off on a different route and somehow seamlessly come back to the original story. The one were he talks about his dad and the prescription windscreen is really funny.
Rays (stingray) , Sharks 🦈, Stingers. That was the teams for school sports at my nephews school in Queensland 😂. Just the local critters. My daughters school teams names are lame just the local streets around the school.

Im an Aussie. I know these things are around, but we go hiking out in the bush, etc. I personally have seen many poisonous black snakes on walks. You just have to be vigilant. No head down looking at a phone.

- Box Jelly Fish { Stingers} are called that because of the square'ish shape of the body, They have lots of trailing transparent { hard to see} tentacles that can be up to 10 feet long.
- Blue Ringed Octopus are very small, around the size of your hand or smaller. They are found in rock pools - which can be dangerous for children or rock fishers. *Their usual colour is sandy with light tan coloured rings, but when disturbed they flash their rings into a bright neon blue warning colour. Ocean creatures recognise this as a danger sign. Humans have been known to say; "Oh how pretty!" And pick them up! The bite can be lethal to an adult human within 20-30 minutes. Worse, it is usually painless, so by the time the victim notices symptoms { neuro toxins are paralysing the heart muscle and the muscles that allow breathing } the time to reach help is far less.
- Funnel Web Spiders are found around most parts of Australia but the NSW / Northern one is the most lethal. Can be fatal within 15 mins >1 hour, however, since an antivenom was developed in 1980 no deaths have been recorded. Meanwhile; most Australians don't put there hands/ fingers into or under surfaces that they can't see, nor leave shoes or boots outdoors for things to crawl into! And check the one's indoors as well.
As for being Brave ... just like in the USA, there were a hellovalotta people who hesitated to go back into the sea after the JAWS Movies came out!

As an Australian and native of the state of Queensland, we do indeed go to the beach with a couple of 2Lt bottles of vinegar during the summer months if we're swimming at an unpatrolled beach. And if you're ever bitten by a Blue Ring octopus, you will suffer near instant total paralysis... You will live as long as your friends can keep up CPR and the medivac arrives!
Actually as kids my brother and I used to “fish” for trap door spiders (similar to funnel webs but not as venemous) in the backyard. You use a tuft of grass and stick it down their hole in the ground and they come out to attack it. If you go to the beach in cairns or Townsville, under the warning signs Billy mentioned there’s usually a bottle of vinegar… so nothing to worry about aye!
You swim “between the flags”! That is an area patrolled by surf life savers, a volunteer organisation
