Well done on outdoor kitchen, love Omar's sexy look displaying top 😂. Simon is doing an incredible job on the building.Just for you, garden, you literally need ten times amount of hay maybe 5 inches. Make a compose box using pallets broken up, then make lit .. dirt, ash, branches, hay. Then put food scraps and a shovel of dirt on top each time, layering. And in twelve mths youll have the best soil for garden.😊
Thanks! I just recently got a compost bin which will be used soon! ❤️❤️
@TheIndigoEscape it's important to add ash, banana peels as it high in potassium and natural trace elements and can help with acidic soils 🙂
Congratulations on getting your braces off! Your smile looks beautiful!
Thank you so much!! 😁❤️❤️
Hi, what a beautiful place and project! About the counter top getting more smooth, take an electric sander with wetting the counter top, that should do the trick. Maybe use some natural beewax for furniture to finish it off. 👍👍👍 And you're so lucky with the help from your mother and Simon🍀❤️
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully they can be done later!
Don’t worry about the washing machine drawer just use a ball supplied by the detergent company and put it directly into the washer. I have done this for years. It works just the same.
Im definitely getting one of those balls!
I love the cover cloth on your couch. Looks fabulous in that setting against the timber background. Maybe you can use it on top of your new cover as a throw.
I love it too! We bought it in Mexico and its well loved.I think the cover with it on top would look lovely
Your Zinnias are beautiful, mine did not like where they were growing and something ate them and all died. Last year I had no problems when I grew them in a pot, so next year guess what, I'll put them in a pot and hope for the best, but my Calendulas are beautiful. The outside wash area is going to be such a game changer and it is beautifully finished. The idea of putting cupboard doors on is a great idea will stop any snakes and mice making a home under the sink. On your chopping board use olive oil to feed it. Omar safe travels back to work.
Absolutely love calendulas. They have an odd but very pleasant smell as well. I’m not sure why the zinnias took off this year but we have been lucky. Ours last years were also quite small
Hope you can purchase at least a small wood chipper in the near future. This way you can chip old or broken branches&twigs to make your own
That's the plan! I believe Carissa and Iwan bought a cheap one last year. I’m going to ask them how they are getting on with it after a year
LMAO! "I'M BORN!" And, doors, "CHU, CHU!" I LOVE Y'all's sound affects!! I was going to ask about your Mum, but I saw her in the background! And your right about the seeds! I did the same thing to some peas I peeled for Mom. And we have Okra seeds that have been in the family for over 100yrs. Mom gave me some to put in my freezer for next spring!! She'll be 83 on the 25th. She said it will probably be her last birthday. We've been talking all this stuff for 2yrs, but now it's getting like more final. I can see it in her eye's and the way she walks and her energy level. She wants to do as much as she can, but her back gives out. And now instead of wanting me a couple of days a week, she wants me everyday during the week. My sister is there at night. Enjoy your Mom while she's there with you dear!!!✝️🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸🇵🇹👣☘🍍🤗 SICILY!!!,,
I’m glad you mum has you both so she can enjoy as much. I remember you today while watching Celine Dion! Wow she was amazing!!! I’m sure you really enjoyed that.
Yes. I think I’m going to be saving as many seeds as possible!! Hopefully we are able to! That’s amazing you have seeds for over 100 years!! That’s a blessing, a real family heirloom! Blessing to you and your family.
@TheIndigoEscape OH MY!!! THANKS ABOUT MY MIM! CELIENE.....WOW!!! I KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO SING FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHEN AND WHERE UNTIL SHE SHOWED UP IN PARIS WITH RC, HER OLDEST SON!!! I'M ECSTATIC!! SHE'S GOING TO BE DOING ANOTHER LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY. NOT SURE WHEN. I HOPE I CAN STILL GET THE SEATS I HAD PURCHASED BACK IN 2021 AT THE NEW (I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME) I HAD FRONT ROW SEATS AND BOOKED A ROOM IN THE HOTEL!!!! THAT SONG SHE SANG TONIGHT IS ON ONE OF HER FRENCH ALBUMS!! I just realized I was typing in all caps.....sorry.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😉❤️❤️
Hahaha 😂😂😂 I thought you were typing all in caps due to excitement!! Brilliant show by her. I hope you get to see her at Las Vegas! Sounds like a show to go!
@TheIndigoEscape Well I was Excited and started in all Caps. But I didn't realize I did the whole thing until the end! LOL
Nice to see the transplanted olive tree in the background still alive and getting very green again. 😁
Yes it is! I’m so glad it survived. It’s going to take it time to get full again bur it’s getting there at least ❤️
It’s looking so good the counter top! Congratulations guys! The washing machine in case you don’t know, the draw comes out or change to pods that’s cheaper and preserve better the machine. ❤
Thanks for the tips!
I have used a heavy pot plant ir old CAE battery to sit in new sinks overnight to adhere the glue. It works a treat! No clamps needed. 😊
That's a great idea!
Your outdoor bench can be polished with a sanding machine and will look like marble 👍
Thanks for the tip! Something to think about!
I was thinking it would be nice if somehow the front edge of the cement counter could be polished down to show the layers - it was so pretty where Simon made the cut out for the tap, it would be lovely if the whole front edge looked like that!
Yeah! I think so too. It’s really nice blend of two colours, even unintentionally!
Wow you look so beautiful and tomboyish in those overalls! 😊 your an amazing gardener and hardworker in them! ☺️ awesome job on this video! 😊
Ahhh! Haha thanks! 🥰🥰 I do like my overalls. The garden is looking so nice at the moment! Can’t wait for next year! Though we have plenty of time this year as well 🥰🥰
@@TheIndigoEscape Your welcome! 😊 your such a sweet and pretty overalls gardener And very nice too with the loving response! 😍 I’m glad the garden is coming together! 😊
Tip: place washing detergent inside the drum, or buy pods ;)
Flat stones, or even those roof tiles can be used as a much too. Obviously it will do nothing to improve the soil, but will help keep the soil cool, and preserve moisture that way. The larger spaces between plants can be covered as a temporary fix until you get more mulch. I live in Australia, and use this around plants like Clematis which want a cool root run. Also when mulching, don't put the mulch against the stems of plants, as they tend to rot.
Your Zinnias look wonderful, BTW.
Thank you for the tip! At the moment the mulch is doing much better than I thought. I have done the finger test and the soil is moist and a good temperature ☺️
@@TheIndigoEscape That's great! : )
Wow your laundry area looks great. Your flowers are always so beautiful, thank you for sharing your journey, and have a blessed week. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you so much Patricia.Have a joyful and blessed week as well 😊
Lovely shorts your wearing Andrea😁
Thanks! 🥰
Maybe weigh the sink down with heavy cinder blocks instead of “clamps” to adhere sink better?
Great minds... I was thinking they could use big rocks, but cinder blocks are a much better idea, cleaner and easier to handle.
I’ll look to see how we can do that! Thanks
we love our roasted chestnuts, very Portuguese.
Jabali com castanha e uma delicia. Gostei muito.
I did think as Omar was pushing back the washing machine under the counter, he’s gonna go too far back 🤭🤣 The outdoor kitchen looks amazing though 👏🏾👏🏾🥳
Haha yes! I think it may need to come a bit toward because of the little drawer for the soap.
Definitely, getting bruised knuckles trying to get the cleaning products into the drawer would get old very quickly!
@@TheIndigoEscape, just get one of those little funnels with a flexible straw tube at the auto parts store for like 3 bucks. That will give you enough room for the bleach/peroxide and the fabric softener/vinegar without having to move the machine out.
Your laundry area is very nice!
Thank you! 😊
sugar cane mulch is the best i have come across for all parts of the garden - even fruit and veg.
Wow that’s interesting. Unfortunately it’s probably quite hard for us to come across sugar cane. Maybe in the tropics
Hello all of you beautiful people and fur babies.
I can't believe just how different your land looks with every video you do, especially the new building (the stone work part)
Your outdoor sink/washing machine storage area is really beginning to look Verrry nice!, another beautiful area on the Indigo Escape homestead.
I can't believe Omar's short homecoming is over, Safe travels back to work (he will be back before we know it) Love to you all ❤😊
I know Sonya! He already left 🫤 I’m thinking in a quick visit to the U.K. maybe. But yeah! I think our progress is fantastic. Maybe a little too quick sometimes! 😂
Happy days. Well done x
Such great work every video. Well done team
Thanks a ton
Your homestead is taking a beautiful shape little by little.
Thank you!
I am surprised you have not gotten a walk behind tractor yet. They are power units with attachments for rototilling, chipping, brush cutting, wheelbarrowing, etc. I understand they are common in Europe, some of the models are BCS & Grillo. I would look into it, could be a something to help with your gardening and land management. And hauling wet cement around.
We do wish to have one day but they are quite expensive and we rather use those funds for other projects at the moment. Once we start to landscape the land a bit more, we are like to get something like that
In the states used go for $2K US. At one time I had 3 BCS's, then when retired into apartment sold them all.
Nice laundry area.
I love it!
When you use silicone, have a little dish with washing up liquid in, dip your finger in it, then drag your finger along it. Doesn't stick to your finger because of the washing up liquid and gives a nice e finish. Especially helpful around the tap, where your card trick wouldn't work. Hope it helps. Great job
Thanks. I’ll try next time. I also find using plenty of tissue helps as well by wipe off finger right after smudging it straight
New skills learned again 😀, the whole area looks great.
Fun fact about corn - each of the silks (messy bit on top of the cob) is connected to and ‘feeds’ an individual corn kernel which is why each silk needs to be pollinated by the tassel (top of the plant) or the particular kernel it is connected to inside the cob won’t grow. That’s why sometimes, there’s a missing kernel (or dried up one) inside the cob - its silk didn’t get pollinated, so it didn’t grow. 😉 So, it helps to gently tap or shake the tassels at the right time to make sure the pollen drops down on to the tassels, in order to help pollination.
What a fantastic comment and it came right in time because I was wondering if those tassel looking flowers need to be shaken somewhat! I’m pleased!! Will be looking at this asap as the cons are growing!!
Thank you! ❤️❤️
When the AC is on all that heat feom those fans is going to make the area very hot.
The area is mostly on shade and also we don’t have the AC permanently on, they take a lot of energy.
Good job guys❤❤❤
Everything is looking amazing Andrea and Omar. The garden is so pretty with all the colours. The outdoor kitchen is going to be stunning 😍 Omar you will need to pull your washing machine out a touch, to give easier access to the washing detergent, it'll irritate you very quickly otherwise. I really don't think you should put doors infront of the washing machine. Everything is coming on so nicely and taking shape quickly. Looking very forward to your next video Andrea. You've got such a lovely smile now without those braces, I'm sure you feel wonderful without them too. 😊 Have a great week everyone 🙏🏻
Yeah, maybe we don’t need doors for the washing machine but just for everyone thing so it looks tidier! Good for thought! Thanks Louise, I do feel much more comfortable without the braces!
Just remember that you need to be able to access the drawer for laundry detergent - you can't move the washing machine any further back without creating more issues - just a thought!
Someone commented that I can buy a plastic sort of ball to add detergent inside! Which would be a good solution. Another thing is to render the front of the bricks a bit thicker
I love how your outdoor patio looks❤ very relaxing and cool. The laundry room is looking lovely, too. ❣️ Your building skills are amazing!👍😊✌️
Thank you! 🤗 it’s been 2 years now in the making and getting better. It’s lovely place to watch the sunset
As an alternative idea, I would have tiled the bench-top and even mounted the washing machine on top of it or on a wall so it's more convenient to access. Of course, it's fine where it is for youngsters like yourselves but for oldies like me with back problems..... You're all doing a great job. DIY is a very rewarding thing to undertake.
That’s a great alternative idea.
You two are just beautiful together ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐨🐨
Thank you very much Lorraine! 🥰
The cutting board looks like an old painters pallet. 🎨
Great job on that caulk!!!
🥳🥳❤️
Awesome video again. Great progress and it is look very nice. Thoughts and Prayers.Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Thank you so much Doris! ❤️❤️
The laundry area looks nice and will look much better when is done. I wonder what will happened with the air c units, enclosed area is not good for them and the area will be hot with them inside.
The are will not be enclosed and there will be enough circulation for it the units. There will be something just blocking at around 3 metres away from them and the top of the laundry area will not be covered completely but only enough for the worktop to be covered
The laundry room area looks great, good job!
Thank you!! 😊
Yahoo guys. Another thing done to make your life easier.
Nice work! If you push the washing machine even further back to add doors, won't you have more difficultly opening the detergent drawer? Also, could you explain why you fill the sink with water before caulking the edges? Thanks.
We have difficulty already haha! Not too much but I think im going to get one of those balls that you can add detergent to and chuck it in the drum with the clothes.
After years of strimming the property with a string trimmer, the weeds have become thicker in the stems and the string won't cut them. I finally ordered a strimmer with the metal blades. I finally decided to work smarter, not harder!!! Lol! The definition of stupid is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different outcome. I finally got smarter!
BTW...your smile looks wonderful! Nice to get the braces off huh?
Your outdoor utility room looks very professional. If you want to smooth the grout around the sink, you can also use the back of a teaspoon. You can't move the washer back more for doors or you won't be able to put the soap in the dispenser.
Yeah we can get a metal trimmer but can’t use it by law after May so we can only use the string one as the metal one during the hot season could spark a fire. Maybe the strimmer we already have can be modify to add a metal blade as well. Something to look into!
Some trimmers come with a tough plastic blade. If you can't use metal check out the plastic!
Omar is really good at the plumbing isn’t he? He makes it look so easy.
He is quite! I think he secretly enjoys it! 😄
@@TheIndigoEscape 😁😁😁
Always enjoy your videos. The music at 26:25 during the installation of the sink is the same as the theme music from Renovation East out of Germany. Great series and I miss it!
Aawww yes! I remember her and loved his videos!
Great job🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 🤗
Cream color sofa cover,,,,black cats,,,,,😉
My sheets are mostly white as well haha. I like a challenge
What about sliding doors on the front ?
Could be!
First class work by all!!!!
Thank tou! 🥳✨
Beautiful!
If you’re coming to Sicily let me know, maybe I can give you some tips (depending on the area you’re planning to visit). I live nearby Cefalù. Cheers!
Hey Felipe! Thats amazing thank you! We are staying in Acireale! I would love any suggestions from a local! Particularly on proper Sicilian food and a nice beach that's easy access with a car but not with many people. Im really looking forward to it, I adore Italian food and seafood. I think I will fall in love with the island. It looks spectacular! What a treat to live there :) Thank you so much for your comment!
@@TheIndigoEscape well, I’ve never seen in Acireale but I know it’s a very beautiful town. I’ve been in Catania, Acicastello and Taormina. Suffice to say Taormina is extremely touristy so will be prepared for loads of Americans. Catania is very interesting even if not my personal favourite. They have restored a Roman amphitheater in the city center and you can try horse meat. There’s a place called “Da Achille” which is great! In all that area you can find really good Granita with brioscia and cream. Excellent for these very hot days. Pasta alla Norma it’s also from that area. If you have time, I would recommend to visit the Siracusan area: Ortigia and Noto are very beautiful cities to visit. I will ask my friends in the area for other more specific recommendations!
Great job! Its all looking fantastic!
Thanks a bunch!
Doing a great job. Keep it up.
Thanks a ton
You will be able to file your nails on the laundry counter - cool
Multiskill counter 🥳
😂😂😂
You need a metal wheel on the grass cutter 😊 great work love the videos
They mentioned in another comment that the metal blades are illegal to use after May because of the risk of sparks starting a fire.
That’s definitely a good addition though you aren’t legally able to use them from May to October due to their ability to spark a fire.
Use one of those internal bbble things for the washing liquid then no need for the drawer opening? Great job!
I knew someone would come up with a solution! Thank you!!!!
I thought it was too obvious, but sometimes these things blindside you. In one of our kitchen the builder forgot to allow for the flooring on the worktop height and initially I though the dishwasher wouldn’t go under until I found it had a removable top, though I then worried about it dying on me and not being able to find a similar one, but we built a new kitchen b4 that ever became an issue. I’ve learned not to over think as I get older 🤪
Where was your mask when sanding 😮 outdoor kitchen looks fab
Sanding was done in wet so it barely lift off any dust.
Well done!🇨🇦👍🏻 Will you be purchasing a Lawn Mower soon? Seems it would be advantageous for your large plot of land.
I think a lawnmower may have trouble with the unevenness of the terrain plus the brambles. It may be much better on the back though!
😊❤
That washing machins is pushed back way too much 😮
It might be!
❤
You are looking fantastic without your braces
Thank you! 😁🥰🥰
When I first started following you there was more building and less gardening and it was great but now it has become ordinary I do hope it improves.
Hi Heather, I understand sometimes content can seem like that. At the moment Omar hasn’t been here much, also the summer is at its height so we work half days and it will get a little bit worse this week as well reaching +40C so we can’t work a much as the spring. I also find it particularly more difficult doing projects without Omar, he does make them more fun and manageable. I do think though making a concrete worktop for the first time isn’t an ordinary diy project, specially for the first time… we are very proud of that as well as the garden which brings a lot of joy and great comments from more experienced gardeners than us.
Projects will go up and down so it should pick up soon
👍
A máquina da roupa fica ao tempo?
Yes, with a future roof
Are you going to affix wood planks or stone to the red brick end that is exposed bc it stands out like a sore (ugly) thumb between the buildings?
Yes, as explained on the video 😁
@@TheIndigoEscape
I was so curious I jumped the gun bc I was hoping for an answer in case it wasn't addressed. I should have known better bc your attention to detail is impeccable. ❤
Don’t worry Joanna! 😄 Even if it had no cement drops on top of it, the brick does clash with everything else.
