    Love this design!!! I thought I would share a tip for holding the stone while bending the wire- I use a silicon pot holder. It really helps me keep the stone steady while bending the wires.

    What type of silver are you using plz? silver-filled, sterling I'm new at this and I'm not sure what to buy

    • @KellyJonesJewellery
      @KellyJonesJewellery  Před 3 lety +1

      I use sterling and fine silver. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, the sterling is really quite tough on your hands. Silver filled is good but the copper does show through after a while... I would stick with bare soft copper for practicing.

  • @jessicaharrison1448
    @jessicaharrison1448 Před 4 lety +2

    Beautiful pendant and great tutorial! I’ve learnt and progressed so much since watching you. Please can I ask were you get your wire from? I’m finding sterling silver hard to get hold of and I’m wanting to move away from silver plated copper as the plating comes off easily and tarnishes 😅 I’d you don’t want to say I understand just wanted to ask x

    • @KellyJonesJewellery
      @KellyJonesJewellery  Před 4 lety

      Aw thank you. I buy my sterling silver from Cooksongold (as I'm in the uk). I have bought sterling from Rio grand in America before and that's nice quality too.

      Thank you, I've bought from them too 👍❤️

  • @icedms
    @icedms Před 3 lety +3

    I’m finding getting wire in the UK a right pain. Soft, half hard, hard! What do you generally use? Lots of US tutorials say half hard but I’ve seen very little advertised half hard in the UK
    I’m doing a project (as a complete newbie, who doesn’t have a clue) and I’ve bought so much wire trying to find the right one.
    I originally used .4mm from a sample pack of different gauges. But I’ve ordered soft, half hard and hard .4mm from the same company but they aren’t the same as the original I used. After ordering .9 and .7 half hard which wouldn’t work I’ve finally settled on .6 soft which I think will do the job.

    • @KellyJonesJewellery
      @KellyJonesJewellery  Před 3 lety +1

      I always use soft, every time. And I generally use 0.8mm and 0.315 I find the finer weaving wire nicer to work with and the soft 0.8 base wire is nice to handle too. Also I buy from metalclays4u and cooksongold.
      Hope that helps ❤
