    Wrist vibroknife limits range and and frlexibility of the tool limiting its use in cqc. An actual vibroknife can be wielded more flexibly and is much better overrall. Also easier on the wrists

    Just noticed with this video. The downward facing piece on Crosshairs shoulder, I had always assumed it was some kind of enhanced communications thing like we see on Cody, but at 5:34 it seems like it might be there just to function as a support for his rifle when shooting in a standing position.

    Out of all the other Star Wars I'm subscribed to or just watch, out of all of the data I could get my hands on, I've never knew about Phase 3 Clone Armor until now. Now, both Rex's modifed armor and the Phase 3 armor shown are my favorite.

  • @eclipped

    Safe to say that hunter had an early imperial commando helmet instead of just a phase 3? It looks very similar to the book cover for one of the order 66 commando novels

    • @legoinglegion458
      @legoinglegion458 Před 3 měsíci +3

      I've thought that same thing! Although it seems that in canon they are keeping with the original Republic Commando helmet for the Imperial clone commandos instead of switching to the design shown on the Imperial Commando book. I would love to see that design brought to life on a clone commando who's armor is the standard white.

    Wow, it's great to hear I'm not the only one who studies the Bad Batch armor to try to figure out more about them! Great video! I loved that they included the first person HUD view from the Republic Commando video game in season one when Hunter got shot by Cad Bane.

    • @tk-6967
      @tk-6967 Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah, but the writers ignored what the HUDs actually do and the clones constantly need torches in the show for some reason.

  • @davidhaas3111

    Absolutely awesome video! I find myself analyzing their armor too. I actually assumed that kamino ordered custom tailored sets of katarn armor for them and tech modified the sets from there. I could not for the life of me figure out where tech’s helmet came from. It’s nice to finally know that the base is a scout helmet. I recognize the earpieces are the audio components that would’ve been partially embedded in the sides of stealth trooper helmets (the ones that operate the stealth ship. The ear pieces are inspired by the headphones of sonar technicians on submarines, which makes sense since the stealth ship is a space submarine, but also it makes sense that these would be the highest quality audio equipment the clones would have access to). I’m sure you didn’t miss this, but I think you forgot to mention that echo also wears a kama to symbolize the fact that he is still an arc trooper. I guess since CF 99 is kinda a commando squad that makes him the only known clone to be trained as both an arc and a commando.

    Small detail about Hunter’s armor: the chest piece also received considerable modification since the plate extends and covers up to his neck. Unlike the standard katarn chest play that is more exposed. Just a small detail I wanted to point out

    Small issue with Hunter's helmet: The phase-3 armor you mentioned is no longer canon, since it only appears in The Force Unleashed which is now part of Legends continuity. The Batch meanwhile only exists in the new canon, not Legends.
    The new canon's phase-3 clone armor never left the prototype stage and was never actually worn by any troopers, but the helmet would go on to be used as the helmets worn by TK Troopers. Obviously their helmets do not resemble Hunter's. It seems like the closest match for Hunter is the standard Phase 2 helmet, but with the top fin and the vertical part of the visor removed.

    Also, Hunter got a single holster midway through the first season of Bad Batch. I am curious how he carried his pistol before getting the holster. In s2, Hunter got leather mandalorian-esque holsters on a cross-belt like you see in western films

    Great video - thanks! What type of backpack does Wrecker use? Also, Why do you think their pistol choices are all DC17s and not the pistol version of the DC17M? I'm surprised that Tech never help craft mechanical hand/blaster/vibroknife attachments for Echo's missing hand.

    • @DevotedBard
      @DevotedBard  Před 7 dny +1

      Wrecker appears to have an almost entirely custom backpack. At least custom enough to the point where I can't visually pinpoint a previously seen pack used in star wars media. I would imagine it would be classified as a "Tech" made product, with a focus on explosives. Looks like it has an internal power regulator to some degree.
      When it comes to their blaster choices, I think Hunter, Tech, and Echo elected to use the DC-17s due to the slim profile and reduced weight for their mobile styles of combat. While Wreaker did choose to use the DC-17M commando blaster because his rapid fire bull in a china shop methods pair nicely with the weapon specifications.
      When the bad batch added Echo to the squad, Mentally the new reality of his situation would have been a challenge for the once arc trooper, so it likely came down to a conversation where echo was pushing himself to accept his new reality and fully embraced the scomp link arm. Its later utility only cemented that choice, though we do find out it has the ability to integrate with mechanical hand attachments later.

    It is weird that they stopped giving Hunter the DC-17M that he used in TCW Season 7 and that only Wrecker still uses it in TBB.
    Also, the capabilities of Katarn armour and honestly most armour in TBB has been largely ignored by Filoni and the other writers. Yes, they did do a HUD reference in the episode where Hunter is shot by Cad Bane, but the commandos constantly use torches in TBB even though Katarn armour allowed the wearer to see in the dark anyway.
    Not only that, but Katarn armour's iconic force field is never once shown to work in the show, both on standard Imperial Commandos and on Clone Force 99, with Wrecker easily being injured by standard blaster fire and Commandos being killed.
    Finally, regular stormtroopers are once again shown to not withstand the effects of smoke grenades even though the lore makes it clear that their HUDs allow them to see through smoke.
