    Welcome to Samsung’s Fit E fitness tracker review.
    In short - this is a fitness tracker with monochromic display, barely visible outdoors, with 5-7 days of battery life and not so intuitive and easy to use.
    Quickly about the hardware - because it doesn’t deserve too much of attention - nothing innovative: CPU that is supposed to be power efficient. Battery lasts up to one week, there’s a heart-rate sensor, accelerometer, which helps to count the steps, and pretty basic operating system. I guess the whole thing has a rather good integration with Samsung Smartphones.
    Unboxing experience was right - small and not too shiny cardboard, inside are the band, and the charging thing. Maybe we can call it a dock. Unlike most trackers - instead of being magnet-based, it relies on a click mechanism, which is annoying.
    Once you configure the watch and you use it - it will be fine most of the time.
    My frustrations were primarily caused by the software. First of all - you need to install Galaxy Wear followed by another three apps in order to fully utilize the capabilities.
    The menu navigation - at least this is done the right way - you can easily add o remove the sections and group them based on your preference. This is really good. There’s analysis about sleep quality, estimation about calories burnt, automatic sports detection - didn’t catch my football game, but managed to capture a few walkings. No GPS of course. You may manually start some of the activities from the app.
    There is no feature to control the screen brightness. The other very weird decision - out of the box it was set to wake up on lifting the wrist. So I could see anything on the screen by taping - I had to do this movement in order to activate. There’s an option to enable double tap to wake - which by the way is a good idea, because preserves the battery life - the screen won’t light up on an accidental single touch. Feels like a favorite smartphone feature.
    So there we are - no matter how respectful I always try to be about tech, investments in research and development, brands, and so on - there are more things that are bad, rather than good. And most of them are software-related. And then - adding the weirdly short battery life, and the single colored display… It has no chances against Mi band - not mi Band 4, even Mi Band 3 is so much better. I think it needs to provide more at the price of around $50. Or simply cut the price in half - and cal it a super-budget tracker - no one would complain that much.
    I’ll be happy to see someone enjoying the Fit E - and seeing the good ideas that Samsung had. A little support from your side would be great - is there something that I’ve missed - feel free to add in the comments below the video.

      No update can make it have GPS. I bought it so it seemed more convenient to bring a band instead of my phone while riding a bike or running, but it still needs me to bring my phone for it to work. I had to spend a similar price again to get a Huawei Band 4 Pro because of the GPS. It lacks several Samsung features, but it's better for what I bought it for

    4:30- It's not a weird lift movement- I just rotate my wrist in my direction and it turns on. You can just be resting your arm on the table and flick the band towards you- don't even lift it and it tells me the time.

For me as a basic person this watch charges really fast on a normal charger and stays for almost 4 days in my knowledge...... This is my first smart phone and I set it up very quickly. As you say initially I thought there was something wrong with the phone as it did not respond to tapping until I set that up. Its also possible to change the length of time the screen remains lit up for after a tapping . I like that it vibrates when I receive a message with identity of the sender and also alerts me when I receive a call. This is especially useful when I have my phone on silent. The only thing I am really disappointed with is the fact that it doesn't have a find my phone feature ( at least I cant find it )which my friend has on an even cheaper watch . It is possible to find the watch from the phone which is of no use to me .

    • @TechMishka

    Good review man. I have a few question tho
    1. Is the calorie burnt measurement personalised according to personal info entered in Samsung Health app, or does it have a general equation for everyone?
    2. Does it track steps walked and calories burnt on its own? Or do you have to connect it to your phone every time?

    Really cool watch. The newest firmware updates seems to have addressed the majority of the issues.
    It now goes through just the Wearable app + a health app (in my case, Samsung Health) but I am on a Samsung phone so I am not sure if that's why.
    The heartbeat sensor is automatically set to 10 minutes interval to save battery.
    Same with brightness, it is available now.
    I have the much more high end 46mm samsung smart watch and this is a nice companion watch in case you are going to an attraction park or w.e.
    With Samsung Health, both watches are synced so it will still update the sleeping, heartrate etc.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 3 lety +1

      Are you doing any movements while sitting? That can lead to increased step count;
      Another possibility is the steps that are being added to be older records that get synced with the tracker. SOme fitness bands update the steps counter every several minutes.
      If you sit for 1 hour and the counter remains the same - it's alright.

    • @PennyHerbst
      @PennyHerbst Před 4 lety

      Exactly! I had to return the Mi Band 4 after 1 week because it gradually started to invent heart rate values around 75-90 no matter who was wearing it or what he was doing at the time (like running). Now I own the Samsung product and it simply delivers whats promised.
      Mi Band is compelling, but really if you think about it what is the benefit over the Samsung? Colored display? Who needs that. Downloadable Watchfaces? All of them are ugly with comic or anime figures or simply trash. The only decent one I have seen is the default one. Music control? I can do that with the physical buttons on my cable. Countdown/Stop Watch? Poorly implemented. You cannot leave them in order to see the time/steps/heart rate.
      The only downside is that (unless you rely on autodetection) have to use the Samsung app to start a workout. But if you are doing workouts that regularly that it becomes annoying, you will probably be willing to spend around two to three times as much money in order to get a device that allows you to do that.
