There’s a big rumour right now about something called “legends mode” or something like that, it’ll be in the extras menu as a free/cheap extra and turn everything into grunts and old death sounds as opposed to the characters talking

The spaceman was added into the mobile version of the complete saga as a character you can create in the character customizer, I believe the burnt Anakin as well
@@AidenPremium the burnt anakin is purchasable, plus it has the burnt clothes as well, and a red lightsaber. It's called Anakin (darkside) I think

My personal theory is that any of the set pieces with major animation has a "character tag" just to make coding easier
I was thinking the same thing, maybe it was also easier to position the camera in the proper place when you're supposed to be near them in cutscenes by making you first person "As" the set piece?
You can technically play as half burned Anakin. Because after you played the Anakin vs. Kenobi level, that head is available for your custom character.

@Seth Blair I believe it’s called extra toggle, in some levels on free play mode if you turn it on it will add characters that can’t be played typically. I know the buzz droid is one of them, I believe the training droid is another one and so is a skeleton

@@velcro4836 Okay iirc you gotta go to the level Jabba’s Palace and play it normally up until the part where you see a black circle on the ground that’s glowing red. That means you can only lift it up with a Sith character. If you lift it up it reveals a bottomless pit. Find one of those spider things and ride it over to the pit and fall down with it. When you respawn you’ll respawn as the spider character.

I think it makes sense why the crane would be a playable character. My guess would be that whenever you get into a crane cockpit, there's a trigger that automatically switches you to play as the crane. So instead of trying to make a controllable entity, they just made it a playable character that you otherwise wouldn't be able to access. The same thing goes for stuff like Taun tauns and Banthas.

a lot of the "characters" such as the curtain and magnet are probably playable as they are classes as sprites which are what playable characters are as it is easier to program them to move in the cutscenes.
The duvet was used in a Bounty Hunter Pursuit cutscene, when Anakin saved Padmé from Zam Wesell’s murder centipedes.
4:55 the thing was used in the 1st cutscene of episode 2, for when padme was attacked by them worm creatures, also if this was already commented i didnt know
Actually, some of these are the level’s secret characters.
The buzz droid is playable as an extra toggle, available during the general grevious fight, and the brain spider thingy is rideable when you’re at Jabba’s palace, pretty hard to miss
Now I cannot wait to beat Palpatine as a curtain.

Fun fact: Some of the characters (that are mini figures or the droid from the beginning of the video) shown here are in the final game only in the custom character creator in the game, they were put in to test if they should or shouldn't be fully in the game. And the buzz droid is a extra toggle character.
Some interesting facts: The curtains were considered to be characters since they move I guess. Other characters were just copied and pasted from the original Lego Star Wars video game before making the new models. The space man is a playable character for the mobile version? (note that I have only played the mobile port *once* and played the first 2 levels when I was younger, its at least cheaper than the PS4 port by $93)
I remember there is a way to play as the car in the hub area. You need to turn on extra toggle, then when someone is riding the car, go next to it and use the transform button

I know I'm like a year late, but I attempted something similar a while ago and it doesn't work. Not because it can't be done, but because the posing and elements of a lot of characters will completely obstruct your view. Think of those giant "Rock Raiders" style blasters the clones, et al. use, those are the biggest problems with that kind of camera mod.

I've messed with the files for this game myself, and I remember that there were traces of Darth Plagueis being there. IIRC there was no model or anything, so definitely not playable but he has his own character file. He had access to every panel type as well

I remember Womp Rats and other characters being playable in Lego Star Wars the Original Saga via cheats.
I also remember playing as Gonk and MSE droids BEFORE they became actually officaly playable.

The Buzz Droid is available under extra toggle, and I'm pretty sure the Rebel Friend is too (the "Rebel Trooper" you can unlock has a red shirt, while the "Rebel Friend" has a blue one, and I definitely remember playing with both at some point)

The "spaceman" in the Cantina is just someone wearing a style of armour. It's old (seeing as Rum Sleg used a similar style in Ep 1), but presumably that makes it cheap, and it's still somewhat effective. It's by no means what we'd think of as a "space suit".
Imagine if the Lego space man was a playable character as a joke. Oh wait I need to mod my PS3 in order to do that.
Could the duvet / blanket have possibly been from episode 2 when Padme gets attacked by the worms from Zam in her room? the only theory I've heard about it is Anakin waking up from his nightmare but I don't think TT ever would've set up that particular scene (as its mostly a talking scene anyway).

I do have a memory of being able to play as buzz droid in free play, I think it was when I had my custom character equipped. You could also play as a womp Rat some cleaner droid and some of the droids that were in the level where you have to go and save c3po and r2 from the Jawas

I play the Buzz Droid a lot in the levels of this game. Here’s how: I turn on “Extra Toggle” and play “Chancellor In Peril.” It also works on other levels, but this level works the best.

I'm pretty sure it's a mount because in the version of lego star wars, the complete saga I have, you can sometimes find it in a certain area in the level where you save han solo from being frozen, and sometimes you can ride it around but it kicks you off after about 20 seconds

I'm pretty sure that the 21B Surgical Droid shares at least the walking animation with Droid 3 from the extra toggle, the B'ommar Monk is a rideable character in the Jabba's palace level, and I'm pretty sure the Buzz Droid is part of the extra toggle in some levels. Besides that, your video was pretty well made and I enjoyed it.
It amazes me that this game is over 13 years old, and people are still finding all sorts of crazy secrets and enjoying the game.
I also think its crazy that these character models are playable, have animations and can interact with the environment. I also think its funny how things have evolved from being an extra toggle/secret character to being purchasable (remember Gryffindor boy/girl?)
I understand what people are saying about the 'Extra Toggle', but before this video I thought they were only playable in a specific level (eg. The Buzz Droid was only available in the 'Chancellor in Peril' level).
I would have loved to be a dev in one of these games, where it was all about the fanservice and the creativity and the story and not just the in-app purchases.

Fun fact. Me and linterni found a yellow LEGO Jedi from an early build I provided on 360. I believe it was Anakin or Obiwan. The yellow character concept was scrapped very early and it was rare to even have our minds in the right place to look at this copy of the game.
I vaguely remember that in the first Lego Star wars the one that was just the prequel trilogy you actually ride Yoda's chair when you play as yoda. When you put away your lightsaber and jump once he jumps into his chair so he can move around faster since he moves so slow with just his cane. They took it out in the complete saga for some reason but they made him move faster so I guess that was the fix.
