Thank God Tom Cruise didn't join the MCU to play an alternate Tony Stark in the last Doctor Strange movie, this was a MUCH better choice to deliver us a standard summer blockbuster that is what we've been waiting for all along. Action, soundtrack, and a happy ending has everything we've been wanting to see for about 3 years now. Thanks for this film!

@@F22raptor46 yh I saw two pilots discussing the sequence on the film an when they confirmed it can be done I found the whole thing even cooler! Even if the tomcat would have been totally squashed within a minute.
Deserves an Oscar or whatever rewards! They all did an outstanding job and saddens me that it wasn't honored the way they deserve.

5:08 can we all agree Rooster’s laugh here is adorable and the prefect reaction for the scene. I like the “father-son” dynamic between him and Maverick. Great casting.

So like, obviously this is a god damn masterpiece and it's hard to pick favourites, but thise scene 7:25 has to be in the top 3 for this movie. The chaos of each pilot frantically trying to relay their situation to their wingman and all fighting for their lives, voices overlapping and then that BEAUTIFUL shot at 7:32 mixed with the music is absolutely perfect.

I think after the pilot did the manuver he immediately shut the engines off cause aren't they using heat seeking missiles and what not. He then turns them back on when he is safely behind mav to pursue them.

I just saw this damn movie. Goddammit, this fool, this dreamer, this frigging actor that I don't like has made an INSPIRING incredible movie. Thank you Mr. Cruise, it galls me to say it, you are wonderful, your kind is headed for extinction, but not today. A hell of a movie. Hope you get a goddam Oscar for it.
Mavricks strategy is brilliant..."smoke in the air" then he cuts off the SU's wingman so the missile hits and kills him... 😅 brilliant move. I love this movie.

It is clear that any 5th generation aircraft has no chance against the "film`s plot" armor. But su-57 are still shown very beautifully.

There were a couple of lines said by Rooster that his dad said in the first movie, such a cool idea of the father/son thing if you ask me

This is by far the coolest fucking pilot scenes ever! Only Topper Harley could outperform them.
This enemy pilot would have to return in another Top Gun movie to get revenge. He was calm and cold as ice throughout the fight, plus that crazy maneuver (I know it would be useless in real combat) A worthy opponent for Maverick and a good supporting character for the movie (better than the enemy pilot at the end, who absolutely does not notice that Hangman fires a missile at him. He must have turned off the sound of the missile warning 😂)

first SU he destroyed with surprise, ok ... second one was pure nonsense :) SU would outmaneuver him by far, also after cobra maneuver, that pilot would not spin in the air that long, he would immediately go for their tail, lock them and shot them down before them even realizing it ... when rooster was saying "what the hell was that" in reality rocket would be flying at them already at that point

I cried when he said "I'm sorry Goose", they were practically dead. How emotional when Hangman came out of the burning plane debris!
The fact these actors filmed on the real deal jets showing every bit of the environment a real fighter pilot deals with no CGI can replicate.
None of those dogfights were filmed in or with real jets. In particular not the one with the F-14A against the Sukhois. People do not seem to get tired of repeating the marketing nonsense for this garbage.

Only modern fighters I have seen extremely low are blue angels and thunder birds and they don't go that go 30 to 50 feet AGL except when taking off and landing.
Ask the top gun pilots who flew all the scenes that the vast vast majority of the FA-18E/F scenes were real and they had permission from navy.
Let's see been to airventure about 50 times. Fun and sun many times copper state. Chippewa Valley air show many times to see blue angels.
Reno air races multiple times and tons of smaller shows.
Have time as PIC of L39, P51, Pitts, Giles 202 (roll rate was extreme) and others

The navy gave them a lot of leeway as the pilots were all former top gun grads.
I like how they use the modern vernacular, "Dagger X defending." You hear the same thing multiple times on the video where the pilot dodges 5 SAMs, "Stroke X defending."

i was stuck taking my sisters kids and their friends to this show. had the 80s version in my mind and wasnt stoked about 2hrs of macho blah. also wasnt happy about driving an hour each way and losing the whole day because food after ect. get the circus seated, show starts. i fully loved this movie. from start to finish it was great. the love story was almost too long but didnt ruin it. i since watched the first one and it was better than i remember but didnt hit like this one. this is a great movie.

That maneuver is actually very dumb. In real life pilots don't do it and I don't believe anyone has actually won a fight by doing that; Physics doesn't work as you would expect in a movie; Cobra is just a stunt, if you do that in a dogfight you are just a sitting goose...

I've flown the Pax simulator and landed. All the alarms going off in the F/A18 are real and I made a couple go off when I flew under the bridge that. Yep wasn't suppose to do that, but "I went away" That was 18 years ago in an E series. I went supersonic too and blew out some windows too. Never forget it either.
