    I haven’t removed my leg hair in 2 years, i love it, my skin is very soft, I save lots of money and time, it’s honestly great. If anyone is so superficial that leg hair keeps them from being interested, i don’t want to have anything to do with them anyways. I will never stop dismantling patriarchy and the societal norms coming with it. Every body is beautiful just the way it is, and no one should change their body in any way if it isn’t out of sincere personal interest.

      That is so amazing. I also recently decided to stop waxing and removing my hair from anywhere around my body except for purely for convenience and I. Feel. So. Liberated. I also decided to not wear any clothes that men are not expected to wear and I honestly was never a feminine dresser anyway but getting rid of the bra has been great. My posture's great now and I feel much more confident.

      I don't shave my legs either. I tried it once and felt my skin felt weird. The only thing I shave are my armpits from time to time. Pubic hair I just trim when I need to, and shave the bikini area if I plan to go swimming. Then of course, head hair I trim the split ends. Apart from that I don't touch any other hair on my body. Body hair has always been explained to me as hair with a purpose (either to protect us or an indication of our growth) , so I don't pay it much attention.

    About the redness in the bikini area: make sure you showered for about 10 minutes before so your pores can open up, I use a generous olive oil to make it smooth and then NEVER go up (only if you really need to, you can usually get rid of most of your hair down there by going downwards and then side to side a few times). After that, close your pores with cold water for about a minute(start lukewarm and then slowly find your way to really cold), its not fun, but your pores will close and this is very essential to prevent infections. After that, only pat dry, never rub! Protect the skin with a bit more olive oil and put on your comfiest paar of cotton panties 😀 this was a complete gamechanger for me! I sometimes still get bumps here and there, but much much less than before!

    • @HollyGabrielle
      @HollyGabrielle  Před 4 lety +3

      i really should take this advice, and em always tells me to never go up . . . but when it come to it i'm always just like wellllllllllllll let's get this done in 2 minutes 😂😂😂 thank you though, i will try and step up my game 😉🙈

    I dont shave my underarms and legs during winters because I dont find it necessary and because I don't wear anything short during the winters i find it useful to not shave during winters.
    The most i actually shave is probably during summers and i completely agree with you. One shouldn't find it necessary to do it just because somebody outside is gonna judge you. I have very fine hair on my hands. And tbh I havent even once shaved or removed my hair on the hands and I find it completely okay to not do so.
    I have friends who go shaving their hands,legs and underarms and eveythng and then there's me who just does it during summers and I'm okay with it. I think it's time we normalize body hair. I dnt think its smthng that anyone shld be ashamed of.

    I've actually never shaved the top of my legs....am I the only one? The hair on my thighs is so fine and light, I have never felt it necessary. I do shave the bottoms of my legs regularly though and I epilate my armpits.
    The bikini area is a whole other issue which I think I need professional help for 😂

    • @Lea-dq2uy
      @Lea-dq2uy Před 4 lety +6

      Same. The hair I have above my knees is blonde and so thin that I don't bother to shave it. That's what my whole leg hair used to look like, but after I shaved it for the first time it grew back way darker and thicker...I deeply regret ever shaving it😂

    When I was a teenager, my body hair was so thick and coarse. I remember that it was always other teenage girls that would be the first to point it out on me. I was more scared about what these girls would say and think of me, I was always judged more by the girls than the boys over my body hair.
    Can we touch young women that supporting other women includes allowing them to make their own choices about their body hair rather than being their harshest critics?

      Some tips that made it sooo much easier for me - don’t do it straight after coffee, don’t do it on ur period, best time to do it just after a shower - even still wet is good. And make sure to hold ur skin tight! Upper thighs are hardest for me because it’s not as tight as the lower legs but holding the skin tight helps!

I was lucky enough to be able to afford laser on my leg/armpits/entire bikini as well as electrolysis to get right of what the laser couldn’t get rid off. Can 100% relate. I’d shave my legs and an hour later there is stubble. Shaving was the death of me in all areas so I started waxing at a salon and that was a game changer except I hated waited for it to grow long enough to wax again. Eventually have saved up and doing laser now and THAT is a game changer. My hair life has forever been changed.

    I've just realized how similar our "hair removal habits" are haha, and yes the down there as you called it is still the most complicated thing to do for me as I epilate my legs and underarms but I just find it way toooo painful to epilate there (even though i actually have a high pain tolerance). I tried waxing but i can't do it propoerly myself and it costs too much to have it done all the time since my hair grows super fast so i just end up shaving but even then i can still see black dots which is very annoying

Wet your skin really well,Try to shave after end of the shower ❤ use body scrub before shaving and use Aloevera gel or coconut oil as shaving cream, make your skin as lubricated as possible so that the razor glides really well, after shaving moisturize with Aloevera gel and don't wear tight clothes for at least 24 to 48 hours ❤ no panties I mean 😂 Just wear loose Pajamas ☺ I hope it helps ❤

    same girl, its intresting because as an Arabian girl i always saw foreigners lucky turns out we are the same hhhhh , i'd say wax down there once a month after ur period is the best option , but do it at a salon because it's hard and it'll thin out and get better

    Where I live the most common form of hair removal is waxing and that's what I do almost all the time, on my legs and bikini area! Usually I'll go to a beautician salon and when I can't go I wax at home (although it's harder to do on yourself) 😛 Recently I have tried the waxing method with sugar (sugaring?) which is better for sensitive skin as it uses natural ingredients and is less drying than normal wax. It also thins out the hair after doing it a couple of times, which is great! For my underarms I just can't be bothered and use a razor with some aloe vera or soap 😂 I've always been scared of epilators!! 😂

    I always got rash and it was awful. After I started using COCONUT OIL as I shave it was a game changer especially down there. So important to help each other with these things. ☺️☺️

    Hi holly, first of all, please don't use laser or ipl on your mole! you should use a white pencil to cover them and any dark spots on your skin. it's not recommended at all, please be careful. I decided to get laser done to remove hair on my legs, armpits, and bikini area. I found an amazing place, where you don't have to pay for all the treatment in advance, you pay as you go, 35euro for each "area", and in less than 10 appointments I'm left with 10% or less of hair. amazing. also struggled a lot with red bumps, rushes, my hair grows so fast if I use a razor. it is a lot of money, but for me it was really important, it made me feel good and confident.

    do you epilate in the shower, like when your skin is wet, or dry? I heard it's better to do it in the shower but I feel like I can spot the individual hairs a lot better if my skin is dry...

    Don’t ever feel like you have to shave or remove any of your body hair or hair down there for men. Good guys will not make you feel bad for your natural hair that they have as well. I have never felt more free since I have stopped shaving. I am so much happier in a relationship without awkwardly shaving my hair down there because I felt that guys would think I was gross. Not going to lie men and women will both make comments about your hair saying it’s really weird that you don’t shave, its gross or it’s not pretty or lady like, but dismantling the standards that society and men have put on our bodies is really important for us and the next generation of young woman who have to deal with the amount of beauty standards there are now.

    As someone with pale skin and very dark hair....gosh!I was just thinking the other day on how many things I've missed out because of it: going to the swimming pool on a short time notice?oh no, the body hair is too much to deal with. Joining swimming lessons?oh god, no! How stupid is this? So, thanks Holly for your openness!we need to get this conversation going!

    I watched Emily's video on shaving, and she says she uses the razor head on her epilator to shave her downstairs. Maybe ask her for some tips? I actually got an electric razor for my bikini line after watching Emily's video as, like you, that area is super sensitive and I always have bumps and miss bits. The electric razor isn't as efficient but downstairs does fell less attacked!

    In 6th grade the older girls were so mean to me in the bathroom (no adults around), telling me my legs looked like a forest and why was I so gross for not shaving. I wanted to but wasn’t allowed...and it made me so incredibly self conscious. Side note: I also have horrible bumps in my bikini area with any kind of hair removal and nothing helps. Don’t tell me what to try, I’ve tried it all - laser seems like the way to go!

    Rinse with super cold water after shaving your bikini line, it really works for me. It's not the most pleasant thing in the world, but I get no redness or bumps afterwards. Also use LOTS of shaving cream and just take your time.

    I've had laser hair removal done and it is worth the investment! You will need at least 8 sessions on all body parts for permanent results. If you do try it, I recommend asking the nurse/technician to apply numbing cream on the bikini area and armpits and leaving it on for a while before lasering them (they hurt more than other areas). You can only shave throughout the laser treatment period (no waxing, epilating, plucking, threading, etc.). Aftercare is also important - moisturize with alcohol-free, fragrance-free lotion. I also had my facial, abdominal, and back hair treated by a "soft-light" machine that is lighter than laser and leaves the hair bleached. It is only effective until the next shave, so not really worth it (in my opinion!). Alternatively, IPL machines that can be used at home are also effective for facial, abdominal, and back hair. Otherwise, I just bleach them like most people do with arm hair. Finally, as I don't like to thread or pluck my facial hair, I use a women's facial razor that I get from beauty stores like The Face Shop, The Body Shop, etc. - very hygienic and quick, and the hair does not grow back thicker.
    I hope this helps! Stay safe xx

    I never understood why uk and us (from what I've seen on the internet) seem to gravitate towards shaving. Waxing is way easier, lasts longer and is more efficient. I personally prefer waxing because I sweat less and helps me control body odours better during hight intensity workouts. Also when I use body cream it absorbs better and is less sticky. If you get bumps and ingrown hair, I would suggest scrubbing the area 24-48 hours before doing anything :)

    Have you ever tried the product "Tend Skin"? It really really helped me with razor bumps under my arms and bikini line. It just helps to keep bacteria out of your freshly shaved pores and prevent ingrowns! also waxing isn't that bad once you get over the awk lololol

    Holly you should try using the razor head of the epilator for your bikini area, the clear safety guard comes off and you can just use it like an electric razor, it is wayyy less irritating than a manual razor x

    HOLLY try putting conditioner on your bikini like before shaving it helps smooth it out. AND shave at the end of your shower after cleaning down there
